Go Behind the Scenes of FRAME x Ben Gorham’s Capsule Collection

[slider_pro id=”112″]
Images: FRAME x Ben Gorham.

Heritage denim purveyor FRAME has made a name for itself in straddling two distinct realms—American-made product and a European sense of style. Reworking this best-of-both-worlds mentality into a more condensed and refocused vision, the young brand partners with aromatic savant Ben Gorham, of Byredo fame, to bring his first ever ready-to-wear collection to life. A startling metamorphosis, Gorham’s vein of simple composition and quality details attempts a bold translation from stoppered bottle to runway catwalk in this adamant, manifest destiny release. Bearing a not-so-subtle moniker—”Away From His Hands,” a wink at its creator’s ravenous take-it-and-run-wild fanbase—the line is functionally evolved, a rodeo-ready ethos grounded in a reticent youth’s mentality.

Tapping Peruvian-born artist and “Round Whippin'” crooner A.CHAL to lend his ethereal image to the campaign, the Torstensson-lensed prints inherit a similar dissonant space as its artists’ multi-genre, spillover style. The pieces, western in execution with just a hint of Byredo’s memorial nostalgia, cherry-pick the best of the American subculture—reworked cattle branding symbols, bull-riding methodology, solitary seclusion—to transpire cowboy influences into cleverly distressed patchwork denim, aged leather vests, and tees drenched in a hardened vintage.

STAMPD Spring 2017 Lookbook

[slider_pro id=”113″]
Images: STAMPD.

Chris Stamp’s Cali-born STAMPD is having a major moment. From Ikea partnerships to walking NYFWM to collaborating with Barneys New York, the skater staple thrusts itself to the forefront of the fashion collective of its own accord. The next stepping stone in the multi-year plan—a Spring 2017 lookbook that reinvents utilitarian-wear with that ever-popular street urbanity. Dubbed “Against the Grain,” the new looks do not distance themselves from the STAMPD collections of past, rather building upon the foundation for a neutral, brooding body of work that finds its soul in a pavement-pounding passion. With an intentionally androgynous construction and elongated lines that extend the torso, the pieces style a pre-millennium man, one willing to don the repurposed “uniform” for a crisp sartorial uprising that raises hell and softens demeanors all in one clean sweep.

The collection begins with the cream-colored slip-ons, embellished with three unique patterns: a geometric red stripe, a blue and green accent, and nautical horizontal stripes, respectively. A similar color pattern features across sneaker and boat shoe styles, with contrasted soles and sole linings. Bourgeoning into new territory are the camouflage print two-eye boat shoes, available in brown and navy, with yellow outer-stitching. All styles feature an orange innersole and the dependable Sperry grip, ensuring durability through the active summer odysseys that the brand represents.

The Sperry x Jack Spade collection is available in select stores and online now.

Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 Campaign

Gucci Pre-Fall 2017Image: Gucci.

Taking the surreal nature of its Pre-Fall 2017 collection and applying a film of uninhibited masculinity and freeform expressionism overtop, Gucci‘s latest campaign breathes life into a line of joint celebratory and exploratory charm. Feeding off the portraiture of Malick Sidibeì, haunting images that spoke to a post-colonial Mali, the prints are riotous in nature yet profound in execution, choosing to challenge and provoke through a high-intensity dance medium. Featuring Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s decadent touch, the Glen Luchford-shot campaign is an expressive take on England’s quick-tempo Northern Soul movement.

The collection features paintings by five of the most famous artists in history—including Da Vinci, Van Gogh, and Rubens—reproduced on iconic Louis Vuitton bags. Neither Koons nor Louis Vuitton will let you forget the original painters, either; the artists’ names are splashed across the bag in gold, resembling brand logos—a statement straight out of Koons’ gallery.

Tribeca Film Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival announces its jury of filmic and cultural groundbreakers for this year’s festival, including such names as Brendan Fraser and Zachary Quinto. This year, New York designer Rag & Bone will premiere its film “Hair,” a reflection on hairstyling’s effects on personality.
