Woolrich’s Latest Campaign Treks From City to the Woods

The scenic hills on the outskirts of Barcelona served as the idyllic backdrop for the lastest Woolrich campaign. For its Spring/Summer 2020 campaign, shot by Eddie Wrey, the American brand focused on the trans-seasonal aspect of its outerwear by capturing it the way it’s supposed to be experienced. From walking through the woods to battling rainfall to just hanging out on a city rooftop, the image series captures all the external conditions that the latest collection of ready-to-wear pieces is able to handle.

“Our product heritage is rooted in the outdoors, naturally,” Andrea Cané, the brand’s creative director, said in a statement. “But we recognize now that customers are multi-dimensional, that they exist in urban spaces and seek to explore their world in many ways. Our new Spring Summer collection supports their needs, and the campaign is a reflection of both their goals and our values, beliefs, and capabilities as a brand.”

Bottega Veneta’s Spring 2020 Campaign is a Summer Dream

Just like the rest of us, the latest Bottega Veneta campaign longs for summer. In the Italian designer’s Spring 2020 campaign, which was shot by Tyrone Lebon and conceptualized by creative director Daniel Lee, the functional and tropical collection’s series of leather bags, relaxed tailoring, and cross-draped tops is seen on a boat as a sunny day turns into night. The warm splash of colors makes the images pop, while simultaneously providing both a hyper-surreal appearance in some and a warm dreamy feel in others, thanks to a picturesque pastel sunset, plenty of skin, and blurry fireworks. “A day of indulgence draws to an end,” a statement reads. ‘Only to be relived the next.”

MY OWN PRIVATE ANTWERP: Raf Simons’ Spring/Summer 2020 Campaign

For its first campaign of the year, Raf Simons went for a simple and timeless look. Showcasing the Spring/Summer 2020 collection, which debuted last summer in Paris, Willy Vanderperre photographed a group of models against a stark white purgatory-like backdrop that allowed some of the collection’s loud prints and graphics to really pop. One repeated motif that reads MY OWN PRIVATE ANTWERP is a particular highlight that recalls the dreamy grunge style of the 1991 Gus Van Sant film it pulled its inspiration from. Alienation and anti-commercialism remain at the pulse of Simons’ brand since it launched in 1995 and the latest campaign, styled by Olivier Rizzo, evinces these themes for the new decade as the designer embraces his next chapter.

A Look at the Michael Kors Spring 2020 Campaign

Veteran photographers Inez and Vinoodh lent their talents to Michael Kors for the American designer’s newest campaign. Shot in Beverly Hills, the Spring/Summer 2020 campaign perfectly encapsulates the opulence of the famed neighborhood with models Ugbad Abdi and Rianne Van Rompaey posed poolside at a seemingly lush secluded estate. The collection itself — which features well-crafted tailored looks in a neutral yet resonant color palette — echoes this sentiment.

“My spring collection is a celebration of the best of American style,” Michael Kors said in a statement. “The Collection campaign focuses on a mix of ease and glamour that is inherently American, and the layers of sophistication, irreverence, and romance found in the images complement that juxtaposition.”

Exclusive: A First Look at Fendi Men’s Spring/Summer 2020 Campaign

We return to “somewhere in Northern Italy” for the latest Fendi campaign. The Italian designer opted for the lush setting of the Italian countryside to accompany the Spring/Summer 2020 which was heavily inspired by botanical themes. Classic men’s looks, including overalls, cargo pants, other workwear-inspired pieces, and tailored ensembles are reimagined through a fresh and bucolic lens. Overseen by longstanding creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi and with the help of Luca Guadagnino, the Academy Award-nominated visionary behind Call Me By Your Name and Suspiria who shot the images, the visuals are the perfect complement to the pieces that are grounded by an earthy color palette of greens, beiges, and browns.

Take a look at the campaign below and discover more on Fendi.com on January 10.

Check Out Jil Sander’s Cinematic Spring/Summer ’20 Campaign

For its most recent campaign, Jil Sander took the scenic route. Inspired by various textures and architectural cues from two Italian cities, Sicily and Palermo, the German designer aimed to showcase balance in its Spring/Summer 2020 collection — think masculine and feminine, modern with traditional, and fluid and structured forms. The result is a cinematic-like scrapbook, shot by Olivier Kervern, that chronicles brand creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier’s recent road trip. The result is an abstract and visually stimulating series of images, which sometimes looks like more of a moodboard than an actual campaign, that showcases the pieces against a natural backdrop.

“These photographs are both abstract and sensitive; sharp, delicate, and extremely honest,” the designer said in a statement. “In these environments and buildings, in these portraits, Olivier has captured the emotions we intended. It was a true pleasure working with him.” Later this week, Jil Sander will be honored as a Guest Designer at Pitti Uomo.

Versace Takes the Desert for Cruise 2020 Campaign

Let it be known that 2019 was the year of the Yee-Haw Agenda. Whether it was the Southern charm of the longest-running Number 1 song ever or the increasing number of cowboy boots that were spotted at all the major fashion shows, country was the trend no one really saw coming. And to round out the year, Versace is joining the action with its own Western-themed campaign for Cruise 2020.

The campaign comes in the form of a short film, The Heist. In this mini-spaghetti-Western, models sport the decadent Italian designer while wreaking havoc in the desert. At only 30 seconds, the film has everything: fast cars, beautiful women, flawless animation and sound effects, and a non-linear structure that would surely make Tarantino proud. Prada’s Resort 2020 Campaign is Out Now

A break from the holiday campaign overload, Prada has released its newest campaign for its Resort 2020 collection. Photographed throughout the designer’s native Italy by Keizo Kitajima and Drew Vickers — Kitajima is known for his candid street style shots while Vickers is an internationally recognized portrait photographer — the latest visual series is a “celebration of the preciousness of the everyday, an expression of the style of life, a piece of now,” according to a statement.

Models — Freja Beha Erichsen, Lexi Boling, Sara Blomqvist, Stella Jones, Xiao Wen Ju, Xara Maria, Vik Nahishakiye, Ashley Radjarame, Kyla Ramsay, Toni Smith, Qun Y, Freek Men, and Yang Hao — are shot in portrait mode and then restyled for another shot in the city while — in a kinda meta twist — holding a bouquet wrapped in images from the same campaign.

And throughout the month, images from the campaign will be used to wrap floral arrangements at florists around the world, including Paris, Shanghai, London, Milan, Moscow, New York, and Tokyo. The designer further explains: “As with flowers passed between loved ones, the Prada Resort 2020 campaign is an exchange, a discourse, an open conversation.”

Macaulay Culkin is the Face of Happy Socks’ Holiday Campaign

Beloved holiday institution Macaulay Culkin has lent his talents to Happy Socks for its Naughty or Nice campaign. Since its launch in 2008, the Swedish sock giant has become a multi-million dollar business and collaborated with everyone from Havaiana to Wiz Khalifa. Culkin is just the latest to partner with the brand in a quirky holiday campaign.

“Both Happy Socks and I have really good taste in spokesman,” Culkin said in a statement. “But yeah, Christmas is my time of year. I get recognized 10x more between the months of November and January. I have no idea why!”

Culkin is not the first to pivot into the titillating world of sock design (remember Rob Kardashian’s plans of a sock empire?) but he is the perfect face to represent the holiday collection since his role in 1990’s Home Alone launched him into the cultural consciousness and beyond. In the ad, he is seated in his element stroking a pet iguana while wearing an ugly Christmas sweater and three styles of Happy Socks socks. And, of course, he delivers his career-making scream. A merry Christmas indeed.

The Happy Socks Holiday collection is available online now. Watch the video above now.

Redhead Represenation in New Helmut Lang Video

Helmut Lang ventured across the pond to Tilburg, Netherlands during the city’s Redhead Days festival to scout models for its latest campaign. In a series of videos and accompanying pics, a roster of redhead talent was cast in a candid yet tender campaign in support of the New York-based designer’s Fall/Winter 2019 ready-to-wear and denim line. With a diverse age range, the video shows each subject discussing pride in all their gingerness and why they appreciate their fairly unique hair color — apparently only 2% of the global population has red hair. The Y-3 Fall/Winter 2019 Campaign Launches Today

For its latest campaign, Y-3 looks to three of the defining eras of the collaboration between Adidas and Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto. In a sleek and strikingly minimal campaign shot by Yvan Fabing and styled by Marie Chaix, the brand recalls the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s in a collection of classic and technical active pieces.

Some highlights include the black sweaters embellished with white branded detailings of contrasting logos.  The new collection also features a new sneaker style, the Y-3 Kyoi Trail, an updated version of the label’s seminal footwear enhanced with sturdy leather and durable materials primed for winter activity. The collection will launch in stores and online this Thursday, September 19.

Moncler Cast Will Smith in his First Ever Campaign

Will Smith, despite being one of the highest-grossing actors of his generation, has never starred in a fashion campaign. But this changed with the latest Moncler “Genius is Born Crazy” campaign shot by Tim Walker. Remo Ruffini, CEO of Moncler, told WWD that it was “an honor to have Will Smith, in his first advertising fashion campaign, embracing our ‘crazy’ idea to celebrate the genius hidden within everyone.”

The images feature Smith floating in a solid light gray room with only a light bulb dangling above his head. The idea for the campaign comes from the popular saying that there is a difference between genius and crazy, but clearly, Moncler thinks otherwise. Going from a skiing gear company to an extremely popular luxury brand is a textbook example of fusing craziness and genius as one.
