WHAT

Los Angeles’ boutique Ace Hotel knows how to summer—usher in the season’s last remaining moments with the ticklingly sweet Surf City Spritz, mixed by Dan Sabo and Harry May Kline. The perfect companion for late nights on the beach or for hanging ten, this is a cocktail that screams cowabunga.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. Aviation Gin
  • 0.75 oz. St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • 0.5 oz. Plantation Pineapple Rum
  • 0.5 oz. Cocchi Americano
  • 0.25 oz. Honey syrup
  • 1 oz. Coconut water
  • 2 oz. Club soda

THEN

Build in a glass with ice cubes, stir, and top with soda down a bar spoon.

It’s Been a Long Week: Picnic With the Kennedys

WHAT

The sultry summer heat warrants a picnic in the park, as Lower East Side staple The Late Late suggests. Modeled after ’60s Irish tendencies, the bar encapsulates the true meaning of a local establishment as it presents Picnic With The Kennedys, a refreshing concoction of strawberry and lemon that channels your inner JFK.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Avion Silver Tequila
  • 0.5 oz. Ardbeg 10 Year Old Scotch
  • 1 oz. Strawberry shrub
  • 0.5 oz Lemon juice

THEN

Shake ingredients in a shaker tin over ice and then, over fresh ice, strain into a rocks glass. Finish with a dash of salt and pepper and garnish with a fresh strawberry.

It’s Been a Long Week: The Megan

WHAT

Everything is bigger in Texas, and the same can be said for Icenhauer’s The Megan, a cheery cocktail from the bar of Austin’s favorite lounge and eatery. With a sweet tang cut through by bitter silver tequila, the pale-hued refresher is a mainstay for those hot summer nights.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Espolon Silver Tequila
  • 0.5 oz. Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
  • 1 c. Sugar
  • 1 c. Water
  • 1.5 c. Fresh lemon juice
  • JP Chenet Brut Rose

THEN

In a wine glass, combine ingredients over ice and top with JP Chenet Brut Rose.

It’s Been a Long Week: Miss Ada’s Lavender Old Fashioned

WHAT

Named for its Hebrew heritage, Miss Ada, Brooklyn’s Mediterranean hot spot, showcases the Lavender Old Fashioned, a sweet treat that professes the eatery’s relaxed aesthetic. With flowery overtones and a sugary finish the cocktail provides summer’s sippable must.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz. Lavender
  • 2 oz. Four Roses bourbon
  • 2 qt. Water
  • 4 c. Sugar
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters

THEN

Combine lavender, water, and sugar in a sauce pan and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes. Let the mixture steep overnight. Then, take two bar spoons of simple syrup and stir with bourbon and bitters in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice and garnish with a lemon peel.

It’s Been a Long Week: Tito’s Summertime Sparkler

WHAT

Celebrate the season’s solstice with Tito‘s Summertime Sparkler, the perfect companion for picnics and beach trips alike. With fresh fruit and a slight fizz, this refresher beats the sweltering heat.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium watermelon
  • 0.5 oz. Guava nectar
  • 0.25 oz. Simple syrup
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon
  • 3 oz. Sparkling mineral water
  • 1 l. Tito’s Handmade Vodka

THEN

Cut watermelon into cubes and flash freeze for 30 minutes. Later, add frozen watermelon to an infusion jar or glass vessel and cover with Tito’s Vodka. Let it sit for 4-5 days and strain out the fruit with a cheesecloth to make the infusion. Take 1.75 oz. of watermelon-infused Tito’s and build the rest of the cocktail, in order listed, over ice and stir. Garnish with fresh fruit.

WHAT

Serve up a win at this year’s Roland Garros French Open with Lavazza‘s Humo Latino. Equal parts smoky and energizing, this wide-awake concoction will see to those grand slam wins with all the pinky-up flair the occasion demands.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 2.5 parts Mezcal
  • 2 parts Lavazza cold brew coffee
  • 1 part Orgeat syrup
  • 3 zests Bitter grapefruit
  • Handful shredded coconut
  • 1 Tbsp. Espelette chili pepper powder

THEN

To prepare the mixture, mix the shredded coconut and the Espelette chili pepper powder in a small plate. Then, in a separate plate, pour the orgeat syrup and soak the edge of an Old-Fashioned glass. Dip the wet brim into the coconut-chili mixture, ensuring there is a homogeneous contour. Set aside. After, in a shaker filled with ice cubes, mix all the ingredients using a bar spoon. Filter with a strainer and pour into the Old-Fashioned glass. Decorate with a grapefruit zest.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 4 fl. oz. Mouton Cadet Sauvignon Blanc
  • 0.6 fl. oz. Sugar cane syrup
  • 1 lime peel

Baha Mar’s Cloud 9

Though its namesake resort may be labeled as the “Shallow Sea,” Baha Mar‘s Cloud 9 cocktail is anything but. Already an award winner, the concoction was mixed by bartender Derrick Blackmon to celebrate the opening of Baha Mar in the Bahamas, providing the perfect in-hand companion for the impending summer holidays.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Gin
  • 3 oz. Soursop juice
  • 1 oz. Coconut-infused syrup
  • 1 oz. Lime juice

THEN

Combine ingredients into a shaker and shake vigorously. Strain over ice and garnish with fresh grated nutmeg, fresh coconut, and mint.

Coralina Margarita

Add a little twist to your Cinco de Mayo celebrations with the help of Patrón Reposado‘s Coralina Margarita—a deliciously devious cocktail by Mexico City bartender Riesler Morales that keeps all of the tried and true classics, punched up with an added kick of complimentary flavors.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 1.75 oz. Patrón Reposado
  • 0.75 oz. Patrón Citrónge Orange
  • 0.75 oz. Simple syrup
  • 1 oz. Fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz. Mexican red wine

THEN

Combine ingredients in a shaker tin; add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled cocktail coupe rimmed with sugar-salt rim before carefully floating red wine on the surface of the cocktail. Garnish with a lime wheel.

An elegant cocktail pulled straight from the lava rocks of Iceland, the Reyka Southside combines the biting taste of arctic water with a glacial cool of minty relief.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Reyka vodka
  • 1 part fresh lime juice
  • 0.75 part simple syrup
  • 4-6 mint leaves

Combine all ingredients together in cocktail shaker and double strain. Serve in a coupe glass with a mint leaf garnish.

Jose Cuervo’s El Diablo

Two classics collide in Jose Cuervo‘s El Diablo—a fruity twist that takes the fun of margaritas and blends it with the refreshingly crisp bite of ginger.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 1 part Jose Cuervo Especial Gold
  • 0.5 part Crème de cassis
  • 0.5 part Lime juice
  • 2-3 parts Ginger beer

WHAT

Port Runners

Bearing an American history all its own, SpringHouse at Russell Lands on Lake Martin’s Port Runners is a cocktail of pioneering spirit. Pulled straight from the banks of the Kentucky River and crafted by one of few master distillers, it’s a drink 200 years in the making.

HOW

Ingredients:

  • 1.75 oz. Buffalo Trace Bourbon
  • 1 oz. Bittermilk #3
  • 1.5 oz. Grapefruit juice
  • 1 dash of Angostura bitters

THEN

Shake well with ice, then strain into a coupe glass.
