Christian Louboutin embraces design duality for its Spring/Summer 2017 collection, looking to the future while retaining its centuries-old principles. Culture Convergence, the line’s ambiguous name, demonstrates the brand’s desire to pair its historic Italian-leather manufacturing with a young-man’s invigorated approach to design. Releasing a range of classic silhouettes pumped with a resurgence of new life, the pieces are crafted by an intergenerational artisanal team hyper-focused on creative expansion. The result: Red carpet favorites like the Top Daviol receive a hand-painted wax finish, the Daurassic sees its body covered in a muted spike detailing, the Crapamale’s brogue becomes an intricate studded design. A bridge between past and present, the kicks show a strong marriage between color palette and textile, a partnership that pushes and pulls to create an eye-grabbing wardrobe finisher. In its entirety, the collection is both an homage to a brand whose doctrine, since its 1992 inception, has been reinvention through tradition, as well as a triumphant display of Louboutin’s skilled beauty.

Craig Green‘s Spring/Summer 2017 campaign bears an illuminated weight, one that wrestles with a Renaissance revitalization, the kinetic beauty of human movement, and religion’s writhing anguish—all working hand-in-hand to create a haunting visual.

This week’s complete social snapshot, distilled for your pleasure.
From the hottest celebrity parties to the regretful morning-after shots, ESSENTIAL HOMME‘s Weekly Instagram Roundup brings all of the hottest designer, model, and trendsetting pics from the week directly to you. After all, no one has time to scroll through anything but the best.
Tommy Hilfiger
Couldn’t make it to Tommy Hilfiger‘s all out Californian bash for the second Tommy x Gigi installment? The brand’s Instagram has you covered with a glossy highlight reel that shows every slow-motion celebrity (Lady Gaga on the sidelines, Fergie performing live), Coachella-esque drum circle, and, on-site screen-printed tee. The party to end all parties, it would most definitely seem.
John Targon
John Targon and Scott Studenberg put a major dent in the fashion world this NYFW with a rock-glam, off-the-cuff metallic line. The Baja East creative masterminds celebrated the occasion by partying hard at NYC’s Kola House, high-kicking alongside fellow club rats Maria Borges and Winnie Harlow for a night of memorable, if not slightly destructive, fun.
Versace
Bruce Weber stepped into the ring once again to shoot the latest rustic, wildlife-infused campaign for Italian fashion house Versace. After overtaking the Kentucky countryside for Spring/Summer 2017, the iconic photographer turned his lens to the brand’s masculine counterparts, branching off the previous campaign with this behind the scenes look at the upcoming men’s Spring/Summer 2017 visuals.
Diesel
Jump for joy with Diesel‘s new Spring/Summer 2017 campaign. Make Love Not Walls embraces Artistic Director Nicola Formichetti’s preferred explosion of energetic marketing, similar to his eponymous brand‘s more eccentric aesthetic. The images, a cut-and-paste collage of mood board, flower-power hope, profess an “all love, no hate” mantra, a youthful display that bites at the heels of the current political state and the brand’s own “louder and prouder than ever” proclamation.
Prada
Star of “The Young Pope,” Jude Law took some time away from the Vatican to pose for Prada Spring/Summer 2017. Photographed by Willy Vanderperre, the images are a byproduct of the brand and Law’s Prada 365 film, a re-imagining of the classic campaign through five different visual identities, including Pathways, Terrain, and Exits.
Equal parts fashion and memoir, Pyer Moss Creative Director Kerby Jean-Raymond turned to familiar heritage for Autumn/Winter 2017. Named My Father as I Remember – 1980-1999, the pieces drew on memories of life with his father in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, a heavy focus on wool, nylon, and “dad” leather that distilled visions of the era.
Models Lexi Boling and Jordan Barrett bare all for Versace Jeans Spring/Summer 2017. Shot with the roiling tension known to the campaign’s photographers Luigi & Lango, the images create a hyper-real canvas brushed with royal, austere prints made famous by the Versace house—re-worked Italian pieces burning against the flesh.
Tommy Hilfiger Denim nods to ‘70s motifs and preppy classics in its Spring/Summer 2017 campaign, a video and photography series that reflects the energy of the label and the versatility of the collection’s namesake material. Starring Anwar Hadid, Sofia Richie, and Lucky Blue Smith—the brand-favorite model who most recently appeared in Hilfiger Denim’s Autumn/Winter 2016 campaign—the new range plays with linear patterns and patchwork, all featured in the line’s signature white, blue, and red color scheme. The sun-drenched and youthful Downtown Los Angeles aesthetic provides a snapshot of the changing face of the brand, evident in its recent Tommyland installation in Venice Beach, featuring Anwar’s sister Gigi Hadid. Through these ventures, the commonalities between youth, California, and culture can be seen as the new heart of the classic label, a sentiment honored in the campaign’s closing statement: “Live Love LA.”
