FRAME x Bruce Weber Release Visual Collaboration

Bruce Weber FRAME
Image: FRAME.

FRAME takes on Bruce Weber‘s all-American vintage in a new visual collaboration between the denim purveyor and the photographer. Sending Weber a box of jeans and no instruction, the images became a modern interpretation of denim’s simplistic vulnerability, shot on location at Weber’s Golden Beach estate in Florida.

Weekly Instagram Roundup: Dolce&Gabbana, Saturdays NYC, and More

This week’s complete social snapshot, distilled for your pleasure.

From the hottest celebrity parties to the regretful morning-after shots, ESSENTIAL HOMME‘s Weekly Instagram Roundup brings all of the hottest designer, model, and trendsetting pics from the week directly to you. After all, no one has time to scroll through anything but the best.

Dolce&Gabbana

Dolce&Gabbana continued its exploration of youth with the Italian house’s latest eyewear campaign. Featuring Presley Gerber, the rising model and son of fashion icon Cindy Crawford, among other young talents, including internet sensation Cameron Dallas, the prints speak to the Millennial-centric Spring/Summer 2017 campaign released earlier this year. Here featuring the Jazz eyewear collection, the #DGCapri still is the latest in a string of all-in-the-family imagery that reinvented the label as an all-encompassing, familiar staple.

adidas Y-3

Yohji Yamamoto‘s adidas off-shoot Y-3 jumped to new heights in this first look at the upcoming Spring/Summer 2017 sport collection. Featuring the all-black aesthetic familiar to the brand, this athleisure take reinvents the shoe sole for a buoyant, lightweight design, highlighted by stylized knee-length socks. Though don’t expect the logo-centric look to stick around, come Autumn/Winter 2017 the marketed approach will take a backseat to the brand’s more reserved take.

Saturdays NYC

Though the team at Saturdays NYC may be busy—the brand having just released its first grooming line and is currently in the process of expanding its physical sale presence across the globe—the surf-ready label still has time for a little fun. Stopping by the Flower Shop, New York’s recently opened pub and eatery, the team met up with the restauranteurs for a quick bite and a little chat on what makes the space the city’s latest must-see destination. The owners, friends of the brand, are pictured here wearing the Clay Ditch hooded sweatshirt and Sanders long-sleeve terry polo, as seen in the label’s latest lookbook.

Bruce Weber

Iconic fashion photographer Bruce Weber has kept himself busy—shooting ads for David Yurman, Louis Vuitton, and, of course, Versace. His next project, a Ralph Lauren campaign highlighting its Polo Red Extreme fragrance, saw Weber return to film with a bold extended director’s cut of his cinematic creation. Featuring actor Luke Bracey and models Kenneth Guidroz and Alyssa Miller, the shared image is a behind-the-scenes shot of the dirt road, red pickup truck energy of Weber’s modern/western visual landscape.

Weekly Instagram Roundup: Tommy Hilfiger, Baja East, and More

This week’s complete social snapshot, distilled for your pleasure.

From the hottest celebrity parties to the regretful morning-after shots, ESSENTIAL HOMME‘s Weekly Instagram Roundup brings all of the hottest designer, model, and trendsetting pics from the week directly to you. After all, no one has time to scroll through anything but the best.

Tommy Hilfiger

Couldn’t make it to Tommy Hilfiger‘s all out Californian bash for the second Tommy x Gigi installment? The brand’s Instagram has you covered with a glossy highlight reel that shows every slow-motion celebrity (Lady Gaga on the sidelines, Fergie performing live), Coachella-esque drum circle, and, on-site screen-printed tee. The party to end all parties, it would most definitely seem.

John Targon

John Targon and Scott Studenberg put a major dent in the fashion world this NYFW with a rock-glam, off-the-cuff metallic line. The Baja East creative masterminds celebrated the occasion by partying hard at NYC’s Kola House, high-kicking alongside fellow club rats Maria Borges and Winnie Harlow for a night of memorable, if not slightly destructive, fun.

Versace

Bruce Weber stepped into the ring once again to shoot the latest rustic, wildlife-infused campaign for Italian fashion house Versace. After overtaking the Kentucky countryside for Spring/Summer 2017, the iconic photographer turned his lens to the brand’s masculine counterparts, branching off the previous campaign with this behind the scenes look at the upcoming men’s Spring/Summer 2017 visuals.

Diesel

Jump for joy with Diesel‘s new Spring/Summer 2017 campaign. Make Love Not Walls embraces Artistic Director Nicola Formichetti’s preferred explosion of energetic marketing, similar to his eponymous brand‘s more eccentric aesthetic. The images, a cut-and-paste collage of mood board, flower-power hope, profess an “all love, no hate” mantra, a youthful display that bites at the heels of the current political state and the brand’s own “louder and prouder than ever” proclamation.

Prada

Star of “The Young Pope,” Jude Law took some time away from the Vatican to pose for Prada Spring/Summer 2017. Photographed by Willy Vanderperre, the images are a byproduct of the brand and Law’s Prada 365 film, a re-imagining of the classic campaign through five different visual identities, including Pathways, Terrain, and Exits.

Bruce Weber for Versace Spring/Summer 2017

Versace x Bruce WeberImage: Versace.

After proving their clout in ESSENTIAL HOMME December 2016/January 2017s Dylan Blue feature, Versace and photographer Bruce Weber get back into the arena with a new Spring/Summer 2017 campaign. Shot in the Kentucky countryside, the images are a far cry from the Greek-god-meets-powerlifting aesthetic of past collaborations, choosing instead to feature a subtle bond between man and animal—a manifestation of freedom as seen through the eyes of Donatella herself. Hoping those outfitted in the collection will feel the same dramatic sense of self, Weber balances a natural grace with the pulsing energy of the Wild West.

Weekly Instagram Roundup: Sean O’Pry, Philipp Plein, and more

This week’s complete social snapshot, distilled for your pleasure.

From the hottest celebrity parties to the regretful morning-after shots, ESSENTIAL HOMME‘s Weekly Instagram Roundup brings all of the hottest designer, model, and trendsetting pics from the week directly to you. After all, no one has time to scroll through anything but the best.

Sean O’Pry

The world’s highest paid male model showed exactly why he holds that title with a new portrait by photographer Chris Colls – showing off his Massimo Dutti jacket, no doubt a parting gift for starring in the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2016 campaign.

Philipp Plein

After serving up a Spring/Summer 2017 sportswear collection that validates the collection’s “first rule, no rules” tag, German designer Philipp Plein brings his eponymous brand’s savage sports line to cities worldwide – the global rollout beginning with Milan, Paris, and Amsterdam.

Luc Besson

Visionary director Luc Besson spent over seven years writing his latest sci-fi epic “Valerian,” and the first trailer does not disappoint. Starring Prada Resort 2017 charmer Dane DeHaan, alongside designer-muse and model Cara Delevigne, the film is an explosive playground replete with aliens, rocket ships, and yes, even Rihanna.

Versace

Two fashion icons, photographer Bruce Weber and Donatella herself, team for Versace‘s latest men’s campaign of passionate masculinity. Highlighting real-world men alongside Weber’s particular model favorites, the new images mark the first time in 17 years the duo has worked creatively side-by-side.

Riccardo Tisci

Givenchy Artistic Director Riccardo Tisci re-teams with NikeLab, after redefining training earlier this year, for a new shoe of dramatic flair. The NikeLab Air Zoom Legend x RT is a look to the future with a color palette of pastel purity.

Brioni

ESSENTIAL HOMME August/September 2015 cover star Michael Shannon kicked off this year’s heated award show circuit with the HFPA celebration of the 2017 Golden Globe season. Decked out in a bespoke navy checked mohair suit from Brioni, the brand’s recent restructuring shows itself in this mashup of new design and classic construction.

Versace Releases Short Film for Dylan Blue

Video: Versace.

Versace spotlights its newest fragrance, Dylan Blue, in a short film directed by acclaimed fashion photographer Bruce Weber, a prominent figure throughout the brand’s visual history. Starring the Italian brand’s most recent muse, Gigi Hadid, alongside a slew of male models, including Trevor Signorino, Alan Jouban, Louis Solywoda, and Filip Sjunnesson, the film centers around a rough and tough boxing gym where two groups of masculine fighters, each more determined than the last, vie for their woman’s heart. The story portrays the Versace man as rugged and loving, emotionally and physically strong, and as complex as the scent itself. Shot in black and white and placed in New York City, the film evokes vintage romance and heroism, contrasted by the featured modern Versace sportswear – parallel to the classic bottle, which houses an über contemporary fragrance.

Dylan Blue is available worldwide now.

The Ten Most Iconic Photos from Calvin Klein’s Career

"Inventing David Geffen" New York Premiere

Calvin Klein rose from a young, immigrant’s son in the Bronx of New York to a household name and a legacy in American fashion. In honor of the designer’s birthday today (Happy 71, Mr. Klein!) we pay homage to his long lasting and slightly-controversial career with our ten most favorite and iconic photos from the man who changed runway and retail, for better or worse:

  • Untitled-2
    1. Vogue-Featured B&W Bachelor

For its 1975 November issue, American Vogue highlighted the designer's then newly-finished apartment on New York's Upper East Side. His first marriage had ended a year earlier, and in response, Klein enlisted famous contemporary designer Joseph D’Urso to create a black and white industrious bachelor bad for his new, stylishly-single life.

    2. Master of Denim

Although he technically founded cK Calvin Klein Jeans (arguably the first collection of American designer denim) in 1976, it wasn't until 1977—when Klein modified the fit to accentuate both the crotch and buttocks—that his jeans became a must-have fashion item. Here is the designer photographed above with supermodel Janice Dickinson in Vogue Paris of the same year.

  • BrookeSheilds
    3. Supermodel Support

At just 14-years-old Brooke Shields appeared in 1980 in a now-iconic photo campaign and television ad shot by photographer Richard Avedon. In the latter Shields so cooly says, "You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing."

  • CK1982
    4. After The Jean, The Underwear

In 1982 US Olympic pole-vaulter Tom Hintanus starred in the campaign for Klein's first underwear collection for men shot by Bruce Weber. The success of both the brand and the image is still widely acknowledged to this day, with the latter having been named one of American Photographer Magazine's “10 Pictures That Changed America.”

    5. Mark and Moss

At the height of the 90's AIDS epidemic, reign of the supermodel, and rule of the jean, Kate Moss starred with Mark Wahlberg—then, still just Marky Mark—in a controversial Calvin Klein campaign titled, “The best protection against AIDS is to keep your Calvins on" shot by Herb Ritts.

  • CKOne
    6. One For All

After finding success with his first two scents, Obsession in 1985 and Eternity in 1988, in 1994 Klein releasef cK One, a citrus aromatic fragrance for both women and men.

  • Fimmel
    7.  Body, Body, Body

In 2001, Australian model and actor Travis Fimmel became the first male in the world to secure a six-figure deal to model exclusively for Calvin Klein for a year. During this time, famed photographed Steven Klein shot Fimmel for a campaign for Calvin Klein body.

  • CKPVH
    8. Buy For Now

Phillips-Van Heusen, the world's largest shirt company and owner of American brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Izod, purchased Calvin Klein from its founder in 2003, ending Klein's footprint on the American fashion house for at least the time being.

  • Gods Love

    9. Still Keeping Face

Although nominally out of the game, Klein still remained active in both fashion and social circles. Above he is pictured in 2008 with John Demsey, Donna Karan, Anna Wintour and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg at a gala for New York-based charity God's Love We delivery.

  • CalvinNick
    10.  Work Or Play?

In 2010, Klein became romantically linked to model and adult film star Nick Gruber, although the exact details of their relationship has been highly contested in the media by Gruber earlier this year
