Christian Louboutin embraces design duality for its Spring/Summer 2017 collection, looking to the future while retaining its centuries-old principles. Culture Convergence, the line’s ambiguous name, demonstrates the brand’s desire to pair its historic Italian-leather manufacturing with a young-man’s invigorated approach to design. Releasing a range of classic silhouettes pumped with a resurgence of new life, the pieces are crafted by an intergenerational artisanal team hyper-focused on creative expansion. The result: Red carpet favorites like the Top Daviol receive a hand-painted wax finish, the Daurassic sees its body covered in a muted spike detailing, the Crapamale’s brogue becomes an intricate studded design. A bridge between past and present, the kicks show a strong marriage between color palette and textile, a partnership that pushes and pulls to create an eye-grabbing wardrobe finisher.
