Coach Releases Video with Michael B. Jordan and Spike Lee

For its latest campaign, Coach tapped the talents of director Spike Lee and brand ambassador Michael B. Jordan for a fashionable short film, titled Words Matter. Shot in a desert outside of Los Angeles, the grainy video features Jordan riding in on a motorcycle, wearing a leather ensemble as he confronted with stones scrawled with the words  ‘Bigotry,’ ‘Hatred,’ and ‘Evil,’ among other things. He then replaces them with rocks that say ‘Love,’ ‘Truth,’ and ‘Dream’ as a testament to the American designer’s core values as a brand.

“I’m honored to get to collaborate with Giants in their respective fields, Michael B. Jordan and Coach,” Academy Award-winning director Lee said in a statement. “It was truly a Magical Day working, shooting in the Desert. Enjoy.”

The film was co-written by Lee’s children( Satchel and Jackson Lee) and styled by Jane How. Hair was done by Jove Edmond and Carola Gonzalez did the makeup. Watch the film below.

rag & bone Launches Short Film For Fall ’18

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxN-PxX2pa4

Part of an extended fall campaign, rag & bone premiered its latest “Time of Day” short shot on 16mm film by Thimios Bakatakis (of The Lobster fame) in an idiosyncratic manner so characteristic to the cinematographer, but also eluding to locations essential to the designer itself.

The film follows EH fall cover star Lakeith Stanfield, Emma Roberts, Kate Mara, Boyd Holbrook, Pom Klementieff, Reed Morano, Lake Bell, and Jon Hamm throughout different parts of the day in both New York or Los Angeles. In a handheld method, Bakatakis first follows Kate Mara in the East Village (where rag & bone was born) to Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg, where the first store was opened.

With limited dialogue and no direct storyline, the viewer is led down the rabbit hole of rag & bone fantasy in a Wes Anderson-esque film where the absurd starts to makes sense.

Lighthearted and cheerful, the video is a perfect representation of the filmmakers’ cheeky sense of humor and the collection’s dynamic selection of reinvented classics.

KENZO Presents an Art Film by Gregg Araki

Video: KENZO.

The love child of the painfully chic French philosophy and the trendy, avant-garde Japanese attitude, KENZO just released a trailer of its upcoming original short film, “Here Now,” which showcases the label’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection. Written and directed by American independent filmmaker Gregg Araki—who famously created the ’90s cult teenage apocalypse trilogy—the new picture promises to be nothing short of fearless and adventurous, words that perfectly encapsulate the masterminds behind the project. Thankfully for our curiosity, the preview above offers a hurried glance at the work that is assuredly experiential—the first few seconds of the trailer already stages a gargantuan burger between beautiful teens violently making out, while featuring, of course, KENZO’s most psychedelic pieces for fall. The full short will premiere in Paris on July, 3, 2015 and then online the following day.

Stone Island, the sportswear brand that has been researching and experimenting with textiles since 1982, has just dropped a video teaser featuring its latest hooded jacket. The Hyper Light Membrana TC is a packable garment with two-layer performance fabric made from a nylon weighing only 22 grams per meter squared. The fabric has also been laminated to a breathable, water and wind resistant membrane and the brand’s innovative dying technique has given the jacket an eye-popping color as well as an added special agent to the dye formula that makes the garment anti-drop. Other features include an elastic at the cuffs, a drawstring bottom hem and diagonal pockets with a hidden zip fastening to make sure everything on your person stays intact. This new jacket is showcased in all its glory in an intense video highlighting the garment’s lightness and the way the flexible fabric moves to a pulsing bass beat. Cole Haan has partnered with Happy Marshall Productions for the brand’s first-ever feature film entitled “The American Dream Project.” Officially released earlier this week, the inspiring docu-series is an exploration captured by filmmaker James Marshall and photographer Todd William, who both traveled over 5,000 miles via motorcycles from New York to Los Angeles to see if the American Dream still exists and what it actually looks like today. With $250 and a hunger for adventure, the two optimistic friends crowdsourced social media to connect with friendly strangers across the country in order to find places to stay and stories to share. “Cole Haan’s mission has always been to inspire people to work hard for what they believe in,” said a spokesperson for the brand. “Supporting ‘The American Dream Project’ was a natural fit.” The film showcases American kindness, generosity, and resilience through the people Marshall and Williams were able to meet.

Paris, the City of Flâneurie: Hermès Releases Four Short Films

Video: Hermès.

Each year luxurious French fashion house Hermès selects a theme that inspires the artistic direction for its seasonal collections. The first official motif introduced in 1987 by Jean-Louis Dumas was titled The Year of the Fireworks to celebrate the house’s 150th anniversary then. Flash forward 28 years later, Jean-Louis’s son and current Hermès Artistic Director Pierre-Alexis Dumas brings his own unique spin to the tradition with a contemporary narrative including a witty sense of humor.

Following last fall’s Man on the Move theme, this year’s inspiration for the men’s ready-to-wear Spring/Summer 2015 collection is Flâneurie; the French word for a head-in-the-clouds state of being. The theme is presented in a whimsical series of four short films named “A flâneur is as a Flâneur does.” Wandering through the enchanting city of Paris, Hermès’ stylish flâneur “avoids the straight and narrow” and “sees what others don’t” wearing the latest men’s collection designed by Véronique Nichanian.

Kick your feet back and embrace your inner flâneur by watching Hermès’ short films.

As the only watchmaker in the United States that designs, engineers, and manufactures its own cases and dials, while also finishing each movement by hand, LA-based Weiss Watch Company has slowly started to restore prestige to American watchmaking. “Our field watch stands apart because it was truly built to be worn every day and to last,” says the master watchmaker and founder Cameron Weiss in a new short film (above) where he shares the design processes behind his beautiful timepieces. A modern representation of American ingenuity and integrity, Weiss Watch Company launched only just last fall at Barneys and other major retailers, but its pieces have continuously sold out since, while the brand itself continues to push the boundaries of timepiece design.

Rolling with Ross: Vent (PT I)

Welcome to Rolling with Ross, an intimate and on-going look into the life of artist and super role model Shaun Ross. From his words to you:

Imagine yourself in a place where only you live…a place where you are allowed to say exactly what you want without any judgment. Perhaps this place is the inside of your head, or under the safe covers of your bed. There have been so many subjects that I have wanted to touch on, and things that have kept me down for so long, that I decided to vent—not to a friend, but to you. I’ve been infatuated with the idea of talking to the anonymous—a stranger that I can’t see/someone that doesn’t know—for so long in order to get a fresh start. I had a recent breakup and it really inspired me to be more honest with myself; to become a better person. I think the first step to healing and learning to speak about it is to, well, Vent.
