Louis W. for A.P.C.’s Fashion Film for Autumn/Winter 2015

Video: A.P.C.

Louis W. for A.P.C. presents “Comfort,” a new short accompanying its Autumn/Winter 2015 collection. The collection—inspired by traditional British menswear—offers a classy selection of parkas, bombers, and cashmere and wool knit sweaters. Written and directed by Grant Curatola and Louis Levy, and shot on Kodak film, the film portrays the romance between two girls – Coco (Zaga Skerletovic) and Syd (Sasha Frolova). The movie starts with Coco lying in bed and having a casual conversation with her boyfriend Bruno (Bruno Di Corcia), telling him that she has met a new friend. Unsuspecting of where this would go Bruno asks, “Is she pretty?” As the two girls start spending more time together—jogging in the park, hanging out in Coco’s apartment, and dancing at night—the film becomes erotically charged, showing them whispering in each other’s ear and finally kissing. With “Comfort”—reflecting the narrative of Autumn/Winter 2015—A.P.C. and Louis W. continue to make not only fashion, but also captivating entertainment.

Eternally dedicated to contemporary art and culture, Milan’s Fondazione Prada presents an anthological exhibition devoted to Gianni Piacentino—an artist who emerged in Italy after World War II—from now until January 10th, 2016.

Curated by Germano Celant, the solo show comprises more than 90 works, and is hosted on the two levels of the Podium, the building at the center of the Fondazione’s architectural compound. Combining two of the dominant tendencies of his early career, Pop art and Minimal art, the artist turned to the world of velocity and transportation, including cars, motorcycles, and planes, all products of pop culture. The ground floor of the Podium has a selection of works realized from 2015 back to the early 1970s, and the upper floor, divided into two separate longitudinal spaces, focuses on the dawn of Piacentino’s career, from 1968 to 1965.

The exhibition is completed by a publication edited by Celant and published by the art institution.

Greats x Orley Launch Second Collaboration

Image: Greats x Orley.

Brooklyn-born footwear brand Greats teams up with Orley for the second time to produce a collection that incorporates key fabrics from the latter’s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection and Greats’ classic fall silhouette, the Royale Chukka. The two brands first worked together in Spring 2015, when Orley created its version of Greats’ Royal sneaker with lush suede, twill, and canvas detailed with hidden grommets and white calf lining. The new lineup now consists of three styles in a variety of patterns and fabrics: Harris tweed, a smooth techno black cotton, and floral brocade. Made in Italy of 100 percent cotton, the techno textile is woven in a way that gives it the feel of a performance fabric, providing durability and a classy touch. The brocade—also made in Italy—mirrors the reverse of the fabric on the Royale Chukka, which is lined in Vachetta calfskin with black waxed cotton laces. Each sit upon a matte black Margom sole. The three new additions to the Greats lineup are ready to take you into the colder months ahead.

Inspired by the limited 1930s Minerva design of 100 pieces, the new Montblanc 1858 collection features four handcrafted new watches: a single-button chronograph in pink gold and three versions of a stainless-steel watch with subsidiary seconds. While the manually-wound, vintage-inspired timepieces bring the nostalgic feeling of a forgotten era, they manage to remain perfectly contemporary.
