Beyoncé, a Name You Might’ve Seen in Recent Headlines, Ain’t Done, Updates Instagram Like Crazy

tumblr_myyv0g8fip1qbk03no1_500-gif

Beyoncé Knowles, follower of no one on Instagram, dropper of surprise visual albums, wife, mother, mezzo-soprano, vegan, blazer obsessor, star of MTV’s Carmen: A Hip Hopera, and sometimes Walmart crooner, has been getting a lot of attention this week. You noticed that too?

While many stars in the midst of crisis management opt for a low-key aftermath and generally choose to remain mum, Beyoncé is not leaving the throne unattended. First she stepped out on Monday with her husband in tow to attend a Nets-Heat game. Then the former Destiny’s Child front woman thought it was the most appropriate time to extend her much-hyped On the Run summer concert tour (again, with her husband).

And now, in a move that some might speculate as defiance from Jay (add to that the recent removal of her Jay Z tattoo on her wedding finger), others could see as unifying bond of sisterhood, and the rest will see as borderline attention whoring, Beyoncé has posted not one, but four Instagram pictures of herself with sister, Solange. The latter of whom, as uncovered earlier, did not in fact remove all signs of Bey from her own Instagram, as had been previously and widely reported.

And here’s what: though this will end some murmurs of a family rift, it only serves to add to the overwrought rumor mill that seems on course to blow.

Rihanna Says “No Thank You” to Shirts

elle-rihanna-giovanna-olivier-blog

Rihanna is no stranger to embracing her womanhood, and neither are her 87 million fans, all of whom got an eyeful earlier this year when badgalriri attended a Balmain after-party during Paris Fashion Week in a mesh long-sleeved top with a high-waisted leather skirt. If that didn’t quash your Unapologetically exposed fix, perhaps Vogue Brazil will. The magazine stripped the Barbadian songstress of her top in a number of photos revealed on RiRi’s Instagram. The sexed up shots were taken in Ilha Grande Beach, Rio de Janeiro for the magazine’s 39th anniversary special — which Rihanna will be gracing the cover of twice (because is one version of Rihanna-anything ever enough?). Here’s some of the highlights:

Update: Minutes after this article was first posted, even more toplessness (this one hastily removed by Instagram):

Scott Eastwood’s Top Ten Insta-Moments of 2014 (So Far)

Scott-Eastwood-photo

Not familiar with Scott Eastwood (yet)? Congrats, you’re part of a slowly fading majority that will soon embrace the youthiest of the Eastwood boys. At 27 years old, he’s following in his dad’s (Clint Eastwood) footsteps appearing in flicks Gran Torino and Invictus. But it’s not a daddy’s little boy scenario entirely, 2014 will see Eastwood starring alongside Brad Pitt, Shia “I’m not famous anymore” LaBeouf, and Logan Lerman in David Ayer’s Fury. The actors most noteworthy credit to date, however, might be his February 2014 cover of Town & Country, which placed him at the apex of its “Top 50 Bachelors.” We decided to creep his Instagram and find his ten best moments from the year so far (in chronological order by date). Here’s what we came up with:

10.

Eastwood might have started 2014 off with a bang, debuting his cover of Town & Country‘s Top 50 Bachelors Issue, but he earned bonus points by revealing that he “love[s] Katy Perry and Rihanna.” This likely incited sex between the three, because that’s what famous people do, right?

9.

“My pops holding his parrot while we watch the 9 er game. #stillachamp”. The fact that Clint Eastwood owns a parrot is worthy of a pregnant pause. The fact that his son snapped a photo of his “pops” holding the guy while the the three of them watched some football… might join the ranks as some of the most American imagery this decade has produced.

8.

Slap “Visit Park City” over this picture you might as well. Park City, Utah reported tourism was up 300% the day after this photo surfaced online (that’s not true).

7.

“Broken board, sun burnt, and all smiles. Love my new rip curl wet suit. #mexico #tow #bajamalibu.” Instagram user #yourgameisinsane commented: “@scotteastwood stop burning my underwear ! You ‘re so hot.” So there was that.

6.

Rocking a Cali’s Finest shirt + hat and a full glass of “vino, baby”, Eastwood shows off his ultra-clean kitchen. The basketball game in the background: a nice touch.

5.

When you’re buddies with Gerard Butler, as Eastwood clearly is, you get to call him Gerry in your captions. That, plus you get to hang with him at Hugo Boss shows during New York Fashion Week. It’s not a bad life.

4.

About that La Jolla life, Aquaman (AKA Eastwood) kicked off this late February morning with a quintessential (read: not at all quintessential) “morning dive.” His signature brood in tact.

3.

The actor ended his February by bringing out the big guns — muscles and a puppy — giving Eastwood his highest “like” count to date and earning him legions of new fans who previously knew him only as Clint’s son and now know him as Clint’s son… with this big guns and adorable puppy.

2.

Attending the UCLA/Oregon basketball game on February 28th, Eastwood is mugging à la Colton Haynes (it’s sort-of an eternally baffled expression that hints at an inner peace with not understanding).

1.

Finally, a family shot! “Family dinner. 3 of my sisters and my brother. And who is that good looking guy? My pops. The man, the myth, the legend.” Let’s be honest, the Eastwood clan ain’t a bad looking group.

The Efron/McConaughey Reunion You Didn’t Know Your Tuesday Needed

You might remember The Paperboy as the film that featured Nicole Kidman simulating some very gesticular fellatio, or the film in which Matthew McConaughey got raped and tortured by a group of men (spoiler!), or the film where Zac Efron danced in his tighty whities in the rain. Or… you might not remember it at all. In the time since the movie’s release, the high profiles of both its male stars have only sky-rocketed higher and higher (crescendoed by McConaughey’s Oscar win on Sunday). So it’s only fitting that during Sunday’s award ceremony, Efron, a presenter, caught up with his old buddy for an Instagram opportunity. In the picture above, Efron appears to be giving off some serious brood, while McConaughey looks just the right amount of lit. The black and white filter: a nice touch though.

A Moment of Your Time for Zac Efron’s Moonwalk

zac-pl_reference_article

No one can do it quite like the King—and nobody’s calling that into question—but damn Zac Efron knows how to bust a move. According at least to his Instagram, where the That Awkward Moment star posted a #FBF video of his best impression of Michael Jackson’s moonwalk at what appears to be an airport terminal. A synchronistic move, seeing as in his last appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (the one last week with the Viagra shout-out), the actor was asked, “Do you get excited about seeing people, or are you over that now? You know, people that you admired growing up or actors that you were star struck by?” To which Zefron replied, “I still save my voicemails…if somebody I look up to calls me. My most cherished is Michael Jackson gave me one. He called me.”

Sending some love up to Michael, Efron gave a welcomed reminder that post-High School, he’s still got the music in him.

Rihanna Got a LOT of Designer Gifts Last Night

santa-copy

It was a big night for badgalriri as she broke into her many, many Christmas presents a few weeks shy of Santa’s arrival (in actuality, she might still be opening up to and through the 25th, so this could have been right on schedule). Rihanna, no stranger to Instagram, took this as a night to share her appreciation with the masses, and gave us a peak at the goods. Self-indulgent, sure, but she’s Rihanna, so we’re not complaining. From Prada to Miu Miu to a Versace handbag and custom McQueen creations–not to mention an unwrapping break to devour some toast–Rihanna won the night, easy:

“Christmas!! Thank you Miuccia and your wonderful team”

“Christmas… 1 Love OC”

“This is gonna be a long night….”

“Love you more…”

“Yes @charliebymz …you can most certainly get it!”

“Major baby! Thank u”

“Wifey”

“She x McQ”

“U ain’t ‘customed to custom…”

Art Basel Throwdown: Lohan v. Hilton, Round One

reg_1024.lilo.brit.paris.mh.071212

We do not condone gossip, but this one’s a good one. Albeit more-than-likely ebbing on fictitious.

Rewind: Star Island Retreat was set to host an Art Basel after-party, with a guest list that included I Know Who Killed Me star Lindsay Lohan, 27, and Paris and Nicky Hilton’s younger brother Barron, 24. At said party, allegedly harsh words were exchanged between Hilton and Lohan’s boyfriend (Lindsay’s who?). The result of which led to a “beat down” by one of Lohan’s “goons” that left Barron’s face bloodied. Barron told police that Lindsay approached him at the party with a male friend and began screaming, “You talk shit about me to my boyfriend, this is what you get.” Here’s what he got, according to his Instagram:

image

Big sis Paris–who’s own beefing with Lohan dates back to 2006, when a video surfaced of Paris with Brandon Davis in which Davis infamously dubs Lohan a ‘firecrotch’–had this to say in response to the photo: “They both will pay for what they did. No one fucks with my family and gets away with it!!”

Nicky Hilton shared the sentiment, tweeting: “Bad things happen when you hang out with bad people.”

No word from Lohan–yet–but there’s always Mama Dina, who’s speaking out, saying that none of this is based in facts. Definitely a fact: Barron’s suiing. Stay tuned.

Move Over Vine; Instagram To Launch Video Sharing

Instagram and Facebook introduce video

“A small team has been working on a big idea. Join us for coffee and learn about a new product.”

That’s the invitation — sent via post — to a small group of elite folk who will attend a top-secret, er, secret-ish, event at Facebook’s headquarters tomorrow morning, 10AM sharp. No word on where they’ll be getting said coffee from, but the new product being feverishly rumored is a video-sharing product that will be the first major overhaul to Instagram’s curriculum vitae.

Instagram’s video feature will be the new arch nemesis in town, battling Twitter’s mobile app Vine, which allows users to create and share six-second video clips. Matthew Keys, the former social media editor at Reuters, reports that the feature would allow users to upload between five to ten seconds of video, besting Vine by a brisk four seconds.

Since Facebook acquired Instagram in April 2012, the app has risen to a user base of over one hundred million and logs over forty million photo uploads per day. With the newfangled option of video-sharing, we just have to ask: Will we still be able to filter? Guess we’ll find out over coffee tomorrow morning.

Who-to-follow-instagram

Who To Follow On Instagram

Who-to-follow-instagram

Instagram can be a tricky world to meander: Who to follow and… Well, that’s pretty much the crux of it all. Here’s ten people you ought to consider… oh and of course Essential Homme Magazine:

FASHION:

Cat Marnell: cat_marnell

Cat Marnell is a 29-year-old Condé Nast drop-out, former beauty editor at “Lucky” and xoJane.com, and current Editor-At-Large of Vice. Sometimes glamorous, often chaotic, assuredly erratic, this self-described writer/editor/predator/downtown disaster gives you parties, puppies, Penthouse, and pills.

Peter Davis: peterdavisnyc

Peter Davis is the Editor in Chief of SCENE magazine and obsessed with cotton candy + Street Art. Like an expertly curated downtown museum, Peter Davis conveys the mood board of his mind and spirit, filled with arrant expression, dripping with pastels, and but of course, a free-spirited glimpse at the life of a ‘scene’ster.

CELEBRITY:

The Rock: therock

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is an actor and semi-retired professional wrestler with extremely formidable muscles. A relative newbie to the Instaworld, The Rock has entered the ring as a big goofball, whether at the gym, the hospital, or a red carpet event, and that’s great — good for him — but it’s really all about his #EpicCheatMeals, where he devours entire boxes of pizza, donuts, and other pastries.

Oprah: oprah

Oprah does not need an introduction. The surprisingly unpredictable O is pretty done down on Insta, posing with her “sister-mother-friend” Maya Angelou one minute and then “caught in the act” hanging hydrangeas for Sunday brunch the next.

COMEDY:

Mindy Kaling: mindykaling

Mindy Kaling is the creator and star of Fox’s The Mindy Project and former writer/actor on The Office. Kaling’s Insta, much like her unspoken and incredibly endearing mantra (that of the see but not necessarily be seen mentality — but don’t mind if she do) is clever, playful, and a much-needed dependable daily laugh.

Cole Escola: coleescola

Self-described “character actress at heart” Cole Escola is a writer/performer mostly known for his work on television, the internet, and in downtown cabarets. Escola, long-renowned for his Bernadette Peter’s impressions on youtube, makes good use of his time: eating tiny gingerbread houses, curating poster art for The Real Houeswives of Peanut Butter & Jelly, and creating napkin art doodles of Bea Arthur as Elvis.

MUSIC:

Eve: therealeve

Eve is a top boss, Grammy Award winning rapper, producer, and actress, with over eight million+ albums sold worldwide. Ever EVEolving indeed, Eve treks through Europe as part of the Gumball 3000 (with her boyfriend, Gumball 3000 founder Maximillion Cooper), preps for the Met Gala, and rehearses for the Dubai My Music X festival, always giving her fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the raptress hard at work and harder at play.

Ezra Koenig: arze

Ezra Koenig is the lead singer of New York-based indie rock band Vampire Weekend. Koenig loves elevator mirror selfies, ribs, untrendy sushi, John Goodman, Eddie Murphy, and of course, texts from his mom informing him that Ezra Cornell is purported to have created the white elephant gift exchange game (per Wikipedia, she points out).

ART:

Laurie Simmons: lauriesimmons

Laurie Simmons is an artist, photographer, and recipient of numerous awards, including the Roy Lichtenstein Residency in Visual Arts, John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Lena Dunham’s mommy dearest — but in fact, quite the opposite — Laurie Simmons is very much the “cool mom” Amy Poehler’s character imagined herself to be in Mean Girls, turning her fervor for the camera lens on subjects like bacon, cake, matzo ball soup, and of course, lots and lots of little dolls.

Mehmet Kırali: civilking

Mehmet Kirali is a traveler, photographer, writer living in Istanbul, Turkey. This renowned street photographer captures some of the most jaw-dropping street photography you’ve ever seen (presumptuous, but it’s true), with his focus on stunning landscapes, omni-colored architecture, animals being animals, and rare automobiles.
