Weekly Instagram Roundup: Dolce&Gabbana, Saturdays NYC, and More

This week’s complete social snapshot, distilled for your pleasure.

From the hottest celebrity parties to the regretful morning-after shots, ESSENTIAL HOMME‘s Weekly Instagram Roundup brings all of the hottest designer, model, and trendsetting pics from the week directly to you. After all, no one has time to scroll through anything but the best.

Dolce&Gabbana

Dolce&Gabbana continued its exploration of youth with the Italian house’s latest eyewear campaign. Featuring Presley Gerber, the rising model and son of fashion icon Cindy Crawford, among other young talents, including internet sensation Cameron Dallas, the prints speak to the Millennial-centric Spring/Summer 2017 campaign released earlier this year. Here featuring the Jazz eyewear collection, the #DGCapri still is the latest in a string of all-in-the-family imagery that reinvented the label as an all-encompassing, familiar staple.

adidas Y-3

Yohji Yamamoto‘s adidas off-shoot Y-3 jumped to new heights in this first look at the upcoming Spring/Summer 2017 sport collection. Featuring the all-black aesthetic familiar to the brand, this athleisure take reinvents the shoe sole for a buoyant, lightweight design, highlighted by stylized knee-length socks. Though don’t expect the logo-centric look to stick around, come Autumn/Winter 2017 the marketed approach will take a backseat to the brand’s more reserved take.

Saturdays NYC

Though the team at Saturdays NYC may be busy—the brand having just released its first grooming line and is currently in the process of expanding its physical sale presence across the globe—the surf-ready label still has time for a little fun. Stopping by the Flower Shop, New York’s recently opened pub and eatery, the team met up with the restauranteurs for a quick bite and a little chat on what makes the space the city’s latest must-see destination. The owners, friends of the brand, are pictured here wearing the Clay Ditch hooded sweatshirt and Sanders long-sleeve terry polo, as seen in the label’s latest lookbook.

Bruce Weber

Iconic fashion photographer Bruce Weber has kept himself busy—shooting ads for David Yurman, Louis Vuitton, and, of course, Versace. His next project, a Ralph Lauren campaign highlighting its Polo Red Extreme fragrance, saw Weber return to film with a bold extended director’s cut of his cinematic creation. Featuring actor Luke Bracey and models Kenneth Guidroz and Alyssa Miller, the shared image is a behind-the-scenes shot of the dirt road, red pickup truck energy of Weber’s modern/western visual landscape.

Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2017 Campaign

Bottega VenetaImage: Todd Hido.

Italian made Bottega Veneta embraces a purer, more elegantly traditional set of images for its Spring/Summer 2017 campaign. Sidestepping the current trend of shock value and over the top visual drama, the brand allows the clothing to express itself on models who are decidedly dejected, wearing a geometric and sharply tailored line with an ease reserved for elite posterity. This latest campaign is part of the ongoing Art of Collaboration project, in which Bottega Veneta pairs itself with tastemakers and artists for creatively inventive seasonal releases. Here, American photographer Todd Hido embraces an idealized vision of the suburban dream, placing models against the architecturally robust Modulightor Building in New York City for a series of images and an accompanying walkthrough video that plays with one of the nation’s most basic desires. To honor the brand’s 50th anniversary, as well as Creative Director Tomas Maier’s 15th year with the company, the collection will feature new items alongside vintage and archived pieces to celebrate the brand’s long and profound fashion history throughout its storied years.

New Bottega Veneta Autumn/Winter 2016 Campaign Features “Grande Cretto”

Video: Bottega Veneta.

In the newest edition of creative director Tomas Maier’s The Art of Collaboration project, Bottega Veneta releases a short film shot on Alberto Burri’s land artscape, “Grande Cretto.” The creative by Viviane Sassen, shot for the house’s Autumn/Winter 2016 campaign, features models walking through the massive maze-like sculpture built on the ruins of Gibellina, Italy, a Sicilian town destroyed by an earthquake in 1968. The stark white concrete acts as a perfect background to spotlight Bottega Veneta’s darkly-hued collection, which features pieces like leather pants, patterned sweaters, and countless coats and jackets. Full matte black ensembles and jewel-toned leather duffels look supremely luxurious juxtaposed by the smooth barrenness of the setting. The Art of Collaboration project, founded by Maier after joining the house in 2001, has featured the work of artists like Nobuyoshi Araki, Peter Lindberg, and Juergen Teller.

Bottega Veneta Brings Back the Desert Boot

BV_EC_11-04-201634357-V2Image: Bottega Veneta.

Following the success of the original, Bottega Veneta relaunches its Desert boot, a classic, suede Chelsea-style that sold-out at a rapid pace last season. The new version of the piece is seen in five colors in the original style, along with a new lace-up variety available in three different hues. The Italian-made, calf suede shoe is quietly luxurious; a classic shape and everyday staple that looks better with use. Supremely wearable, the Desert boot can add a touch of elegance to a casual outfit or hold its own with a decadent fur coat.

Thee shoes are available online and at 1.800.845.6790 now.

Bottega Veneta Cruise 2017 Preview

Men-Cruise-2017_Look_01Image: Bottega Veneta.

Bottega Veneta debuts its Cruise 2017 collection: an amalgamation of colors, textures, and styles meant to accommodate any travel destination. From muted velvet suits to bright jewel-toned racing jackets, the range focuses on textile and color choices rather than bold design. It’s a move towards a simpler, more elegant style of dressing that Creative Director Tomas Maier notes as the intention behind both the men’s and corresponding women’s cruise sets. Accessories are given special attention, lined with luxe treatments like crocodile and matte calf leather.

The collection is a fitting follow-up to the fashion house’s cruise collection last season, the model for which was primarily the same: Stick to simple silhouettes and let the colors and fabrics speak for themselves. The new release, however, drops the majority of the bold patterns seen previously, opting for color-blocking with solid pieces and tucking patterned shirts and ties shyly under suit jackets.

The collection is expected to be released in stores November of this year.

Bottega Veneta Debuts Second Maison

BOTTEGA_VENETA_BEVERLY_HILLS_021Image: Bottega Veneta.

Based on Creative Director Tomas Maier’s design concept that draws from his own father’s architectural influence, Bottega Veneta opens its second Maison in the world in Beverly Hills.

Following its Milanese predecessor, the 4,828-square-foot space centers on the idea of lightness, space, and balance, aiming to reflect the house’s aesthetic as well as local architecture. The two-story interior inspires from early Mediterranean Revival, Southern California architecture from early last century, and Mexican-Colonial Spanish Revival style, uniting an intimate environment of beauty and discretion. These cues translate into skylight details on the top floor with natural light intensifying a color palette of neutral, earthly tones as walls and ceilings are constructed of bleached oak wood, while flooring is of fossil Piscina stone, Coquina, and brushed oak wood.

Bottega Veneta is now open at 320 N Rodeo Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90210.

Renowned photographer Viviane Sassen lenses models Mica Arganaraz and Sven De Vries for Bottega Veneta‘s Spring/Summer 2016 campaign and corresponding video. “Viviane’s work is both beautiful and enigmatic,” says Creative Director Tomas Maier. “You can’t help but be drawn to her images, her atmospheres, and the distinct sense of mystery she creates.” The latest in an entourage of celebrated artists, Sassen joins Maier’s shortlist of artistic contributors at the “Jardin d’émail” by Jean Dubuffet in the sculpture gardens of the Kroller-Muller Museum.

See Bottega Veneta’s First Pre-Fall Collection For Men

Images: Bottega Veneta.

Creative Director of Bottega Veneta Tomas Maier zeros in on seasonal essentials with monochromatic looks and diverse fabric treatments for the fashion house’s very first pre-fall collection for men. In an exploration of color, materials, and silhouettes, the collection pushes boundaries in technique, using Japanese denim, needle-punched wool, and wax leather, with a lightness applied to each for a sense of transition that extends from summer to the first few months of fall. Calfskin briefcases and document carriers are presented in shadow prints, as Nappa leather totes—woven and embroidered—join the assortment. Designed for the sophisticated, self-assured man who is ready for something new, Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2016 looks to arrive warmly received.

A.P.C’s Short Film for Winter 2015

Video: A.P.C.

French ready-to-wear brand A.P.C. has teamed up with the American artist and photographer Collier Schorr to shoot a short movie to introduce its Winter 2015 collection. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Schorr is best known for her portraits of adolescent men and women, and has previously worked with Brioni, Bottega Veneta, and Comme des Garçons. The short is shot in black and white, and portrays the protagonist, French model Adrien Sahores, in a scarcely furnished room awaiting a phone call, honoring the brand founder’s aspiration for clean lines and simple patterns. By shifting the camera from the model to the old-fashioned phone, Schorr creates strong sense of anticipation and eagerness.
