Elegant deconstruction, thy name name is Raf Simons. The designer unveiled a chaotically-controlled retrograde of a collection for Autumn/Winter 2014, full of patchwork knits and nostalgically-pieced together sophistcated streetwear done in collaboration with contemporary American artist Sterling Ruby. In following past seasons, the just-released ad campaign for AW14 displaces the modern man into the solemnity of nature. Shot in Antwerp by Willy Vanderperre and styled by Olivier Rizzo, the five-part series features paint-splattered outerwear over skin-tight bottoms and anchored white high-top boots as the models stand rooted—much like Simons’ work—motionless in time and place.
