Fendi Scented Baguette

Fendi Launches World’s First Scented Bag

The iconic Fendi baguette just received the ultimate scented makeover in collaboration with Maison Francis Kurkdjian. The marriage of leatherwear and parfum marks the first-ever scented bag on the market (we’ve predicted before that scented accessories are on the rise.) Fendi’s signature scent is dubbed the FENDIFRENESIA— a leathery and musky scent as appropriate to the accessory. The piece itself is finished in a beautiful yellow color and meant to last with the scent for up to four years on the bag. An additional 4ml fragrance flacon comes with the bag to reapply the eau de parfum or wear traditionally on the skin.

 

Fendi will first showcase the scented leather baguettes at Art Basel in their Miami Design District store. An ultra-small version of the bag is also available online. The final aspect of the collaboration features photographer Christelle Boulé who created a series of photographs that show the fragrance as it was dropped onto colored film paper. Boulé’s photographs will also be displayed as part of the store exhibit.

Jo Malone Remains the Perfect Gift Option in New Holiday Campaign

In a new holiday campaign, Jo Malone‘s scented spectacular features a magician that reveals a concoction of Christmas delights, including a decorative scented ornament. The release also includes a 24-piece advent calendar ($450) and a new Rose & Magnolia cologne with a sensual floral touch. Characterized by navy and green colors, the holiday collection envisions a proper Engish Christmas with a psychedelic update. There are cards flying around and magicians making scents appear and disappear. Perhaps scent is the actual magic, a complicated and endlessly changing potion able to transform any occasion or moment by bringing back memories. Jo Malone is also considering its Orange Bitters cologne as the fragrance of the season.

Thom Browne is Releasing its First Fragrance

Thom Browne has built a career and internationally recognized fashion empire reinterpreting the traditional men’s suit with absolute precision and whimsy. Now, for the first time ever, the American designer is expanding into fragrances with a collection of six gender-neutral scents. The assortment, concocted in partnership with Swiss fragrance lab Givaudan, is titled 09.27.65 (Browne’s birthday — he’s a Libra) and each of the scents is numbered 1-6. Centered around a vetyver base, every bottle is infused with a different aroma accent, including cucumber, rose, whiskey, and smoke. The appearance of the bottle is purposely undistinguished — a simple rectangular bottle bears a simple white label and a signature striped ribbon is wrapped around the lid.

 

The Thom Browne 09.27.65 will launch in select stores and online in early October.

Danny Bowien x Hawthorne Launch Fragrance

The brain behind Mission Chinese Food Danny Bowien is moving into the fragrance sphere with the launch of a new fragrance in collaboration with Hawthorne. Designed with master perfumer Olivier Gillotin, ‘Botanic and Woody’ merges classic men’s scent-sibilities (think leather and wood) with fresh floral aromas, like blue chamomile, ambrette, rose, leathery saffron.

 

“Florals are commonly perceived by many as ‘feminine’, but we wanted to recontextualize these incredible ingredients as something that can beautiful, elegant, dynamic, and bold all at the same time — something that can easily be worn by men, by women, by all,” founders of Hawthorne Brian Jeong and Phil Wong said in a statement. “Fragrance is an expression of self and should not be suffocated by genderization.”

Louis Vuitton Launches an Oud Scent

Following the launch of Louis Vuitton‘s first five-scent men’s fragrance collection in May, their first unisex oud scent dubbed Ombre Nomade launches today. Dark and mysterious, the new scent smells like a hot summer night somewhere out in a desert, or on the edge of the world with a retrograde beaming right overhead, and dry wood scenting the air.

With a strong accent of oud, complemented by leathery and spicy tones, Ombre Nomade offers a mystical and intimate feeling. A hint of raspberry, rose and geranium follow through with a tinge of floral scent, yet still highly resembling deep notes of spirituality. Perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud found this particular Louis Vuitton note of spirituality all the way in Bangladesh.

Murano Glass Perfume Launch by Valmont

The latest from the Swiss-made brand Valmont is a Venetian line Le Storie Veneziane, dubbed as “an haute couture fragrance collection.”

The collection features five scents that each represent a different aspect and neighborhood of the Italian floating city. The scents take a trip through the the morning lush scents of leafy Venice parks represented by the Verde Erba I flacon all the way to a sexy eventing patchouli scent that invokes oriental notes from Campo San Moisè in Blue Cobalto I.

Each bottle is designed with a simple golden coating and adorned with a leather cap that matches the color of the handmade Murano glass face on the front of the bottle. It is a statement piece all its own — a piece of jewelry that bottles a beautiful cocktail in an almost-nostalgic, familiar way.

Le Storie Veneziane will be available exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue’s flagship store in NYC from May 22 through August 2018 for $420 (100ml) and $210 (8.5ml).

John Varvatos Releases New Scent Dark Rebel Rider

John Varvatos’ newest scent is an olfactory interpretation of the brand’s rock ‘n’ roll attitude. Dark Rebel Rider is inspired by a black leather jacket, a muse which manifests in both the scent itself and the packaging. The fragrance is built on a base of luxurious Russian leather, accented with notes of citrus, saffron, black violet, and vanilla to create a deep, woodsy experience with the perfect touches of sweetness for balance. The cologne is held in a flask-shaped bottle which wears a jacket of its own, with two zippers and a mock-leather casing covering the exterior of the black bottle. Topped with the brand’s signature fleur-de-lis emblem, Dark Rebel Rider is John Varvatos through and through.

The 4.2 fl. oz. eau de toilette is now available exclusively at Bloomingdales and will expand to other fine retailers in August 2016.

In honor of Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale, Valentino is releasing a new edition of its classic Uomo fragrance, Uomo Intense. Both the cologne and bottle receive a makeover for the occasion, keeping the base of the case, but turning the gold metallic details of the former to a bold gun metal. As for the scent, the original rich leather notes of the original Uomo are strengthened, along with new odes of mandarin, vanilla bean, and sage oil to create a statement, show-stopping fragrance.

BVLGARI’s New Man Black Cologne

A follow-up to one of its trademark scents, Man in Black, BVLGARI’s Man Black Cologne offers a fresh update to the rum and tuberose base of the original. Intended to be both hyper-masculine and light, the cologne is full of intriguing contradictions. Perfumer Alberto Morillas added a combination of warm and cool spices, citrus, and white wood to create a spicy, yet refreshing scent. Man Black, which comes in a sleek matte black and metallic bottle, is neither subtle nor heavy with these complexities, and the result is supremely compelling, or as Morillas puts it, “everything except traditional.”
