Maison Kitsuné’s ACIDE Collection is a Winter Trip

The signature fox logo synonymous with Maison Kitsuné gets a drastic makeover as part of the French label’s ACIDE collection. Made in collaboration with artist and illustrator Christina Zimpel, the new genderless line is a psychedelic interpretation of the beloved animal inspired by various art movements and amplified with vibrant colorways. At the heart of the new collection are the reimagined and reintroduced signature items from the designer, including classic cotton t-shirts, polos, crewnecks sweatshirts, cardigans, and accessories, all emblazoned, of course, with Zimpel’s original rendition of “ACIDE Fox.” Check out some images below.

The Return of Helmut Lang Jeans

Helmut Lang officially relaunched Helmut Lang Jeans with a full range of contemporary fits, all made in Italy. The classic denim pieces were initially introduced as part of the Under Construction capsule, the straight, bootcut, drainpipe jeans, and the trucker jacket, are now all available in a new shade of indigo. A highlight of the collection is an exclusively Italian “accelerated” denim, made to age uniquely along with the wearer. The line also features an unexpected alternative to denim in the form of a synthetic high definition twill, as well as unprocessed Japanese selvage denim, with custom detailing. The Algular Masc jeans and the Form-Fitting Femme style jeans will now also be available for both men and women. Bye gender norms!

The expanded collection features a new logo-hack design by LA-based artist and graphics designer, Brian Roettinger, entitled “L’Apocalypse Joyeuse,” which refers to a 1986 exhibition of Viennese culture at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, where the label presented its first runway show. Additionally, the collection was shot by skateboarder and artist Ed Templeton.

Helmut Lang jeans are available at Helmut Lang stores and online now.

Imagine-Dragons-Origins-2

Imagine Dragons “Evolve”-ing into “Origins”

Just 18 months after the release of their last platinum-selling effort, Evolve, and having just returned from a 100-date world tour, Nevada-based Grammy-winning band Imagine Dragons released their newest LP, Origins, today. Evolve spawned huge hits such as “Believer” and “Thunder,” and Origins is rumored to feel “like a sister album to Evolve” whilst also offering different musical textures and experimentation. The new album was produced by names such as Joel Little, Mattman & Robin, and Alex Da Kid (who produced the Dragons’ first hit, “Radioactive,” along with countless others).

“We finished Evolve, and there’s a lot of clarity on that record, both sonically and just as a band. And we just kept on creating, so we had these songs that we created after Evolve,” said Dan Reynolds, lead singer, and guitarist for the band. “We thought, you know, we could wait a couple years like bands are supposed to, and put it out. But then it’s going to be irrelevant to us because in two years, we’re going to be in a different place. So we just thought, well, this is a new world of music. Why don’t we put it out right now?”

The band announced their single, “Natural,” on Twitter on July 12, after which it was released five days later, and confirmed to be the anthem for the ESPN College Football season. The song quickly climbed the charts and is now the band’s number one song on Spotify. The album’s second single, “Zero,” came out on September 19, which will be featured in the upcoming Disney film Ralph Breaks the Internet.

Giuseppe Zanotti Does Chunky City Sneakers

Italian designer Giuseppe Zanotti just launched a new line of sneakers. The new “Urchin” style is mischievous, non-conformist, and made to accommodate a fast-paced city lifestyle, emphasized by the rubber 3D studs on the sole of the shoe.

“I’ve always been inspired by the energy and pulse of the city,” Giuseppe Zanotti said in a statement. “Whether its Tokyo or Shanghai or New York, the common thread is a non-stop dynamism mixed with an independent attitude. The “Urchin” encapsulates that vitality and unorthodox mindset.”

The sneakers have a light and flexible sole and are made of a soft neoprene material that seamlessly takes the shape of your foot. On the sides, the sneakers are lined with side zippers that resemble the classic Giuseppe hardware, and are available in three colors: black with a subtle green and red trim, white with a red and orange trim, and vibrant orange with black outlining and white trim.

The “Urchin” sneakers are now available in Giuseppe Zanotti stores and online. Check out the designs below.

Feast Upon Louis Vuitton’s Holiday Window Display

Nothing can make you feel the spirit of the holidays the way that decorated store windows can. Louis Vuitton too just launched their take on the holidays with their adorned special store windows. Inspired by the iconic tree symbol of the holidays, the new store windows feature classic trees from around the globe. The traditional holiday tree, the Joshua Tree, the Bonsai, the Cacti, and the Palm Tree are lit up and decorated with the label’s own ornaments, which range from classic emblematic tokens from every holiday imaginable (honorable mentions to the piñata, the lucky cat, and the croissant), as well as decorations that recall the designer’s own iconic products including the Twist bag, the Archlight sneaker, and more.

Gentle Monster Takes Wooster Street

Korean sunglasses designer, Gentle Monster, has recently relocated from its previous store at 79 Grand St, to a new 6,000-square-foot location at 70 Wooster.

Gentle Monster arrived in the US for the first time in SoHo back in 2016. Since then, the eyewear company opened another 20 flagship stores all over the world, establishing themselves as one of the leaders in the sunglasses scene. The opening of the original store in New York served as the company’s introduction to their experimental “art and retail” approach, which was initially developed in Korea before expanding globally. Giant sculptures, major store installations, kinetic creations, and various forms of artwork that make the store feel like an art gallery are quintessential to the Gentle Monster boutique. Naturally, the design of the new store is equally as (if not more) groundbreaking than the design of its predecessor. A mesmerizing mix of elements was crafted by the company’s in-house design team, along with multiple space designers, object designers, and sculptors.

In order to honor the work of architect Rafael de Cárdenas, and ceremoniously bid farewell the 79 Grand address, Gentle Monster hosted the underground experimental group Marzipanzi and partnered with theatre group La Mama and Culturehub, transforming the previous store space into an art exhibition, featuring Gentle Monster’s signature installations. Part of the vision of this closing ceremony was to show appreciation to the space that first spearheaded the designer’s entry to New York, instead of having the opening at the new retail space.

Gentle Monster’s first art commission, ‘Marzipanzi: Journey to Mars,’ was open to the public from October 24th through October 30th. The title work included a series of photographs from a group of some of New York’s experimental artists, who travel to Morocco to experiment with black and white infrared photography in the same desert that NASA uses for the testing of robots.

Check out the new Gentle Monster store now at 79 Wooster St, NY 10012.

Not only is this Zegna’s most universal collection to date, but perhaps also the most daring. It breaks anticipated conventionalities of tailoring and streetwear with it’s bold colors, styling and silhouettes, all while maintaining Ermenegildo Zegna’s signature of merging luxury and modern streetwear incorporating the versatility of the 21st century.

Accompanied by the matching expressive logo – XXX (named after the classic three stitches on the lapel of a suit), the partnership is part of Ermenegildo Zegna’s international, multi-tiered campaign. Everything from the varied selection of contemporary everyday items, accessories, and footwear, to exclusive icons such as graphic bomber jackets, and hand-stitched high-top sneakers, meets the goal of the collection to “match the identity of society’s boldest and most visionary members,” says the brand’s Artistic Director Alessandro Sartori. The result is the creation of a new tribe of XXX wearers, “whose members travel across time-zones, genres, and styles.” Individual styles of the XXX Collection have also been crafted for each country, taking into account the trends, moods, and attitudes of each region, and epitomizing the very essence of a global, diverse campaign.

More Blood, More Tracks, and more Bob Dylan

Photo: Bob Dylan Official

On November 2nd, More Blood, More Tracks, Bob Dylan’s latest installment of his Bootleg Series was finally released. The deluxe edition is comprised of “every surviving take” from his New York sessions in 1974, with the outtakes, mid-take discussions, and mistakes in all their glory.

Dylan’s 15th studio album, Blood on the Tracks, was initially scheduled to be released in 1974, but he withdrew the record after his brother heard it and felt that it was too stripped back to be successful commercially. Later, Dylan re-recorded five of the songs in Minneapolis, and the newly recorded album was then released in early 1976, becoming his most successful album to date.

More Blood, More Tracks contains the original 10 songs that were to be released in 1974. Though Dylan has claimed on several occasions that the album is not autobiographical, it’s impossible to not listen to the album as an earnest glimpse into Dylan’s thoughts regarding his then on-going divorce, his substance abuse, fear of becoming washed-up after becoming a voice of the 60’s, and many more turmoils of the folk-rock legend. Songs such as “Simple Twist of Fate” and “Idiot Wind” are timeless, heartfelt and tear-jerking ballads, believed by critics to be far from “mere fiction.”

Jeff Slate, New-York-based music journalist noted, “On these tracks, we find Dylan – just a singer with a guitar and a harmonica, and a batch of great songs – delivering performances that thrill you when they’re supposed to and break your heart when they need to…. The performances are also in the purest state we’ve ever experienced them. On More Blood, More Tracks, for the first time, we’re hearing the songs exactly as Dylan recorded them.”

Not only does the album give insight into the way Dylan operated in a studio, but it also allows the listener to peek into his musical soul at a challenging and complex time in the musician’s life, and maybe even begin to understand it.

More Blood, More Tracks is now available for purchase on Amazon and iTunes. Check out the promo video below.

At the heart of the collaboration is the shared belief of both Mallman and Best Made Co. in the beauty, freedom, and quality of life that comes from loving the outdoors. Each item in the collection is not merely a tool or accessory, but rather a staple in bettering the outdoors time of consumers, a symbol for exploration, and a device through which to take yourself out of a familiar indoors routine.

The journey towards the collaboration began long ago, when Mallmann met Peter Buchanan-Smith, founder of Best Made Co. at his shop in New York, while purchasing several of his axes. “We created a bond over this primal and beautiful tool that took us, over the years, on many adventures in South America,” says Mallmann.
