The Desigual x Ecoalf Collection is Peak Sustainable Fashion

This year, when a number of big designers announcing big plans to pivot towards more sustainable practices, brands like Desigual returned to their roots to reiterate their eco-responsible practices that have long been part of their model. In collaboration with fellow Spanish brand Ecoalf, the designer launched an entirely sustainable collection made from waste and recycled raw materials.

Desigual started in Barcelona in 1984  as a vintage store — the ultimate sustainable fashion move.  When it first launched, it used repurposed denim to patch pieces together, creating its signature patchwork style. 35 years later, the label is using entirely recycled materials throughout the collection, “Because there’s no planet B,” as the new campaign states. The commitment to the environment will ultimately result in further and exclusively sustainable collections from the brand. The current nine-piece capsule features pieces made from plastic bottles, discarded fishing nets, used tires, and recycled cotton among other things. Limited-edition custom-made jackets will also be available, combining the brand’s denim on one side of the piece with a puffer-look on the other.
