Salvatore Ferragamo Spring/Summer 2020 Collection at Pitti

Salvatore Ferragamo Sets Precedent at Pitti

Paul Andrew‘s first men’s collection for Salvatore Ferragamo Spring/Summer 2020 is a revision of the brand taking inspiration from the Italian designer’s forward thinking and the contemporary age of high-craft and high-tech garments. Staged at Piazza della Signoria, the first show ever set there, the formative entity also celebrates the 30th anniversary of Pitti. With the Palazzo Vecchio and Fountain of Neptune as a backdrop, Ferragamo set a new standard for menswear shows.

The collection itself comprised of pastel loose pieces in lightweight materials that were enhanced by Italian quality and finished in a tender, romantic manner. A mix of traditional menswear staples with more experimental fits, each of the airy pieces came together in a harmony of Earthy hues truly necessary for an Italian summer (ideal for the heat that accompanied the show). Some key pieces include a pair of Nappa leather bonded pants and a range of very-loose knits. The overall impression is a summer take on utilitarian-wear with a bit of Italian flair that evokes a laissez-faire vibe.

Astrid Andersen Spring/Summer 2020 Collection

Astrid Andersen’s Poetic Approach to Spring/Summer 2020

For Spring/Summer 2020, London-based Astrid Andersen leaned back to its poetic origins. The pieces are light and flowy, emphasized with light blue tones and a nod at retro ’90s sportswear. The subtle collection is inspired by South Korean artist Do Ho Suh and the soundscapes of musician James Blake. This led the designer to take a handcrafted approach with multi-step dying techniques and lighter textiles that demonstrate a step back to appreciate the process itself. It is a meditative collection reflecting on art and beauty in sensual pleasures and taking time to fully process them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19sapRn0LUk

Loubi in Progress,’ Louboutin‘s new summer collection celebrates the craft of its renowned shoe-making in a transparent and deconstructed launch .

The collection is a nod at the brand’s history, starting in the late 90’s when Louboutin used recycled scraps of paper and other discarded materials to create collages. The same technique is also applied in the brand’s craft paper used for shopping bags, shoes boxes, among other things. The new pieces highlight shoes, bags, and other pieces as if they’re unfinished pieces straight from the mill.

‘Loubi in Progress’ is available for pre-order online now.

MOTHER Denim Launches Men’s Collection

Denim-worshiper and Victoria’s Secret angels’ approved brand, MOTHER Denim has officially wandered into menswear with its debut collection launched today.

Highly inspired by the 70’s whimsical je ne sais quoi vibe, the LA-based brand knows a thing or two, or everything about denim! The go-to brand for jeans for women had already often included men’s silhouettes in their MOTHER Superior and Love Your Other campaigns. The natural progression for Tim Kaeding, co-founder and creative director, was, of course, to launch those pieces but also in a men’s capsule.

The spring collection consists of three denim fits in four washes as well as a few other ready-to-wear items.

MOTHER Denim available online at MOTHERDENIM.com and Ron Herman in LA.
