It’s Been A Long Week: Harmony

As true believers of the work hard, play hard mantra, we present you with It’s Been a Long Week, a weekly column aimed at awarding some liquid appreciation to you for just being yourself, dammit. Make yourself a glass or two, on us — you deserve it.

We all need a little bit of harmony these days: both in booze and spiritual form. This week’s cocktail helms from Midtown bar Valerie where a name means everything we crave so much and a harmonious balance of Listoke gin’s juniper and citrus notes, as well as tonic and fruity tincture. And while the world is on a temporary hold, your bar cart isn’t. Test your home bartender skills with this week’s featured cocktail–

While the surrounding city is turning into a Valentine’s Day set with endless hearts and everything pink-and-red, we’ll sit on our little purple cocktail here. New York is really about to get into the swing of things with this weekend’s New Moon, Fashion Week turnover, and everything in-between after our deep January slumber and the occasion warrants a drink. We’ve chosen this beautiful pea flower syrup (hence the purple color) cocktail from The Rickey to slip back into the swing of things. “This frothy cocktail will hit your taste buds in all the right places,” says the bar itself and we’re surely on the same page. Frothy, smooth, and elegant, the Lavender Girl is our choice of the week —

As gin makes its rounds stateside more and more, we’ve seen several “healthy” cocktail options as well. This option with kombucha, honey, turmeric, and lemon juice seems like the perfect antioxidant mix or cold remedy. The freshness of the gin truly juxtaposes the zest and spice in the rest of the ingredients leveraging a well-balanced cocktail. Easy to repeat at home, as one more or less has all the ingredients readily available, Bee Well will have you sauntering in the sun on Sunday afternoons.

Ingredients:

  •  2oz The Botanist Gin
  •  4oz Ginger Kombucha
  • .5oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • .25oz Honey
  •  ¼ teaspoon Turmeric

Ingredient (3)

Method:

  • Add The Botanist Gin, Fresh Lemon Juice, Honey and Turmeric into a shaker.
  • Add ice and shake.
  • Strain over ice in a Rocks glass.
  • Garnish with a Fresh Lemon Peel.
