Louis Vuitton x NIGO Release A Collab

For its latest collaboration, Louis Vuitton partnered with Japanese designer and founder of Bape NIGO on a limited-edition collection. The LV² capsule features a broad range of tailored and denim looks heavily with patchwork and plenty of graphic logo manipulations.

The collection combines elements of streetwear from both NIGO and Virgil Abloh’s background into an updated assortment of elevated menswear. Since Abloh joined the French label as its men’s artistic director, the brand has enjoyed a cultural renaissance that pays homage to its heritage while incorporating, and even setting, modern trends. This is evident in the LV² line — highlights include a patchwork tote bag that combines the label’s signature monogram with an updated checker-print version. A pair of suits are cut in a similar oversized print. Denim ensembles are printed with crosshatched techniques that once again transform the LV monogram, this time into a bandana-like all-over print. It’s surprisingly successful and shows how effective the combination of luxury and streetwear can be when done with tact.

The LV² collection will be released later this summer. See some of the looks below now.

Supreme x Nike Air Force 1s are Coming This Week

The first big sneaker collab of the year is dropping this week. On March 5, Supreme and Nike are releasing the highly anticipated Air Force 1s. The two major brands have a pretty extensive history working together, on average dropping something at least once a year since they first joined forces in 2002. Despite this relationship, the latest collab is a simple one that combines each label’s most popular trope — the familiar Nike shoe model and the cultish Supreme box logo — in one sneaker.

The new Air Force 1 retains many of the shoe’s classic attributes. The sneaker, which is available in black or white, is made with premium leather and features the signature swoosh on the side. The red Supreme logo is printed towards the back of the shoe, undoubtedly elevating the otherwise ubiquitous footwear to coveted status. That won’t be the case, though — at only $96, the sneaker is one of the skatewear brand’s more affordable offerings and will be restocked throughout the year.

The Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 will be available in select stores and online on March 5.

A Look at the Coach x BAPE Capsule Collection

For what looks like one of the first major designer collabs of the year, Coach collaborated with BAPE on a limited-edition capsule. The collection of outerwear, ready-to-wear pieces, and accessories lifts popular iconography from both labels, including Coach’s distinct logo pattern with the Japanese streetwear brand’s gorilla logo and shark teeth motifs, to introduce a new tier of designer streetwear.

Monogrammed leather accessories, like the Coach Academy backpack, have been updated in funky colors that merge the sophisticated cool of the designer’s native New York with the lambent energy of Tokyo. (This was further realized in the accompanying lookbook, which was shot by Quil Lemons in both the Ebisu District of Shibuya in Tokyo and Williamsburg in Brooklyn.) A brown puffer jacket has been cut in leather and stamped with Coach’s monogram as the designer debuts its own take on the streetwear classic. Even BAPE’s signature sneaker, the BAPESTA, has been reimagined to celebrate the footwear’s 20th anniversary. Hoodies printed with BAPE’s guerilla-style gorilla print and with the cartoon shark graphic placed on the hood’s exterior have become street icons on their own, but this time around they’re aligned with the aesthetic values of Coach.

As the collection rolls out, city-exclusive T-shirts will be released in select cities including New York, Tokyo, Paris, Los Angeles, and London. The Coach x BAPE collection will launch in select stores and online on February 22. See more looks from the collection below.

KithxG-Shock

Kith and G-Shock Drop a Rose Gold Timepiece

Another day, another Kith collab — in the last year, the streetwear label has partnered with New Balance, Bomber Skis, Nobu, and Malin + Goetz to name a few and shows no sign of slowing down. This time around (no pun intended) the New York-based brand partnered with Casio G-Shock once again on a limited-edition take on the watchmaker’s GM6900 watch. Thanks to the Kith touch, the traditionally bulky model has been softened with a rose gold metallic finish — the collab marks the first time the watch has received a metal bezel — and fine copper detailings, and the resin straps have been covered in the brand’s prominent logo monogram print. On top of a sweet design, the timepiece still retains necessary features including water resistance.

The Kith x G-Shock GM6900 watch will be available at Kith stores and online on February 10.

Huf Celebrates 25 Years of ‘Pulp Fiction’ with New Capsule

It’s hard to believe that Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 iconic and (arguably) career-defining film Pulp Fiction celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. Upon its release, the movie was lauded for its idiosyncratic style and homage to gangster films past with its innovative combination of violence and humor — basically Tarantino at his best. To honor its legacy and position in the cultural canon, HUF made a capsule collection of pieces inspired by the film’s most memorable scenes. The special-edition range from the LA-based skate brand includes jackets, woven tops, fleeces, T-shirts, and more that directly feature some of the famous characters’ faces as well as seminal dialogue. Mia Wallace (as made famous by Uma Thurman) is prominently featured on a range of graphic tees while the whole Ezekiel 25:17 bible verse (rewritten by Tarantino and made famous by Samuel L. Jackson) is printed on the back of a jacket.

The HUF x Pulp Fiction collection will be available in HUF stores and online on December 12.

dior stussy

Dior Announces Collab with Stussy

Kim Jones has teased another designer pivot to streetwear, this time between Dior and California-based brand Stussy. Jones was one of the vanguards that helped bridge the worlds of luxury and streetwear back in 2017, while still working as artistic director for Louis Vuitton he launched a hugely successful collaboration with Supreme. Even though he’s moved to a different label, it’s likely that the new collab will be met with similar enthusiasm.

Little is known about the collection so far, but according to NSS magazine the range will include a white cap with a new customized logo, a grey-and-blue bandana-inspired tee, and a graphic t-shirt with a picture of Jones that reads “I Want to Shock the World With Dior.” All this is pure speculation at this point (though the t-shirt sounds iconic), but the collection is rumored to make its debut during the Dior Pre-Fall 2020 men’s show in Miami as part of Art Basel on December 3. Until then.

Teppei Fujita onitsuka tiger sulvam

Teppei Fujita of Sulvam Designed a Capsule for Onitsuka Tiger

Teppei Fujita, the designer behind Japanese label Sulvam, designed a capsule collection with Onitsuka Tiger as part of its ongoing series in honor of the shoe maker’s 70th anniversary. Fujita opted to rework Onitsuka Tiger’s signature Tai-Chi-Reb style, a shoe inspired by tai-chi and worn notably in the Kill Bill series. The reimagined style is a stark monochrome sneaker, accented with grey line stitching details and white stripes against the black leather exterior. The collection also features a similar black and white tracksuit embellished with more contrast stitching.

“Fashion is free,” Fujita said in a statement. “That’s how I could maximize the attractiveness of both brands by destroying our fixed image in a good way.”

The Onitsuka Tiger x Sulvam collection will be available in select stores and online on November 18.

Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Launch ‘Life in the Balance’ Capsule

New Balance teamed up with the New York-based lifestyle brand Aimé Leon Dore for a new Fall/Winter 2019 campaign, “Life In The Balance.” The new collection resonates with the bucolic atmosphere of the rich woods in upstate NY, complementing the seasoned nature of the collaboration. The contemporary and active line relies on more neutral tones for the clothing and accessories, with pops of colors from the two new footwear designs: the 990v2 and the 990v5 sneaker, which are available in green and navy blue with accents of bright yellow. The campaign also features more outerwear pieces including pullover fleeces, color-coordinated sweatsuits (perfect for a last-minute awkward family Xmas photo) and knitted accessories such as chunky caps. Watch the campaign below now.

supreme nike air max 95

Nike and Supreme Update the Classic Air Max 95 in Leather

For their latest collaboration, Supreme and Nike have updated the latter’s classic style, the Air Max 95, in an elevated new material. Available in three colors (blue, black, and red), the signature sneaker has been redone in luxe and glossy Italian leather. The shoe even comes with a boot-shaped silver hang tang to emphasize the Italian-ness of it all. Nike previously released a similar leather style in the early ’00s, but the new style enhances the shoe with Supreme’s own stamp — the skate brand’s logo is cropped and etched on the side and shown in full on the tongue of the shoe. And at $500, the simple and overt branding combined with the fine material construction makes this collaboration the most expensive one since the brand’s first teamed up in 2002.

The Supreme x Nike Air Max 95 will be released in select stores and online on November 7.

giambattista valli h&m

Giambattista Valli Debuts Menswear with H&M

Giambattista Valli has earned critical a for his extravagant and romantic Haute couture gowns, worn by the likes of Ariana Grande, Amal Clooney, and the ultimate sartorial honor Rihanna. One can imagine that’s why the Italian designer avoided making menswear, for it used to be so drab and move at only a fraction of the pace of the women’s fashion cycle. But the times have changed — menswear is now front and center, with industry figureheads being admired as if they were rock stars. And with more eyes on it than ever before, Giambattista Valli is finally joining the conversation with its first men’s range made in collaboration with H&M.

Fortunately, the designer doesn’t compromise any of his lavish showmanship on behalf of menswear. The pieces are as showy as ever — a sequin blazer adds some pop flair to traditional tailoring, as does a printed tiger-stripe suit. And floral prints are planted throughout the collection to add some softness to the staple pieces.

The Giambattista Valli x H&M collection launches in stores and online on November 7.

A Heron Preston x UGG Collab is Coming Next Month

Just yesterday Telfar revealed an upcoming collab with Converse during its Spring/Summer 2020 presentation in Paris, but now another capsule is making the rounds. After debuting its collaboration with UGG earlier this year, Heron Preston announced the forthcoming collection will drop next month. The American designer incorporated his signature street edge into some of the Australian footwear brand’s most popular styles. The Classic Mini and Tasman models have been redone in fluorescent orange and some tie-dye patterns and updated with mesh, suede, contrasting stitching, and pull tabs.

The Heron Preston x UGG collection will be available in UGG stores and online.

telfar ss20 converse

Telfar x Converse Collab Debuts in Paris

During the New York designer’s Spring/Summer 2020 show in Paris, Telfar unveiled a new capsule made in collaboration with Converse. Inspired by the American footwear giant’s archive pieces, including Pro Leather, ERX and classic Chuck 70, the new styles are a fresh take on some of the most recognizable shoe models. The partnership extended into a series of full apparel looks, with a collection of jersey sets, tracksuits, and t-shirts that reworked Converse’s signature star logo as a graphic statement print. Telfar has previously collaborated on wildly successful collections with partners as random as White Castle and FAKA, so a partnership with Converse might be its most practical and yet.
