Gucci’s Cruise 2020 Lookbook Gets the Yorgos Lanthimos Treatment

A month after the lauded Gucci Cruise 2020 show in Rome, which featured many pro-choice themes, Greek director and auteur Yorgos Lanthimos lent his eye to the accompanying lookbook. Lanthimos, whose idiosyncratic surreal style has earned him an Academy Award nomination for last year’s The Favourite, channeled his unique vision for the Italian label’s latest visual, which was overseen by the Italian designer’s enigmatic creative director Alessandro Michele. Models are shot in motion (jumping, dancing, and in some cases swinging bags) in a variety of fancy yet seemingly abandoned settings that extend upon the label’s signature of combining opulence with the absurd. For more on that, take a look at the recent Harry Styles campaign shot by Harmony Korine.
