TOMS x The Hill-Side Release Collaborative Collection

Perennial shoe label TOMS and Brooklyn-based menswear label The Hill-Side team for a collaborative effort of kindred spirit. Aiming to pair TOMS’ unique designs—most notably the Alpargata and Paseo—with signature Japanese fabrics used by the New York clothier, the collection focuses on the idyllic relationship that exists between father and son, a recreated vision of a cheery nature. Releasing identical items for tots and men alike, the collection offers ties, pocket squares, sunglasses, and, of course, shoes—utilizing a gray-scale scheme of tropical prints to invoke an austere sense of childlike fun. Starring a variety of New York City men who gravitate towards the brands’ shared ideals, including Simon Howell, a photographer; Andrew Tarlow, a restauranteur; Niyi Okuboyejo, a men’s clothing designer; and Nick Carnevale, a coffee shop owner; the campaign features real men with their dapper sons, a sentiment of sweetly placed disposition and grounded reality reflected in the timeless release. No strangers to collaboration, both brands have seen a revolving door of celebrated designers, artists, and creative minds that utilize their respective products and ideals as a blank canvas. With TOMS’ past efforts alongside Keith Haring, Audi, and Element, as well as The Hill-Side collab’s with CB2 and UNIONMADE, the new line is a testament to the growing power between the two brands and their pairing here alludes to ideals with much more gravitas than would appear on the charming surface.
