Luxury luggage maker RIMOWA has collaborated with Dior on a series of bags imprinted with a monogrammed logo print with the unique oblique pattern on the signature aluminum suitcases. For the launch, the designer’s new store on Champs-Elyseées brought in a whole RIMOWA helicopter and positioned the cases against a cloudy backdrop for the Kim Jones creations.
A passionate traveler himself, Jones envisioned the cabin and trunk cases as well as a hand suitcase full in signature Dior Oblique motif created in 1967 in three colorways: silver, matte black, and blue. Smaller cases are available in additional colors as well as a leather cross-body strap embossed with “Christian Dior” for accessories and carry-on items. An exclusive champagne case was also designed to hold a single bottle of sparkly along with six Dior Maison champagne flutes. Focused on dedication and heritage within the French luxury world, the marriage of RIMOWA and Dior is a timeless setting for contemporary innovation.
The collection is available now until November 13 at the Dior store at 127 Avenue des Champs-Elysées in Paris, 8éme.
The serene soft pink backdrop was the perfect auxiliary for the Dior Summer 2020 show. When Kim Jones debuted his vision for the label last summer, it was similar light-toned suits that gave us a taste of the type of fertile direction he planned to steer the House in. Leather work and tailoring was a main fixture in the most recent collection — some key looks include pastel suits, double-breasted blazers with Japanese-influenced elongated ombre panels that bled into richer hues, and more traditional monochromatic options that were elevated with asymmetrical cuts. Additionally, some all-white looks (like jumpsuits and bomber jackets) were garnished with large blue inkblot-like prints and more intricate floral designs. The show also introduced the latest metallic iteration of the Dior Saddle bag, as well as a new collaboration with Rimowa in the form of silver trunks and more compact options that could rival the beloved side pouch.
Rimowa has released a film together with basketball legend LeBron James as part of its new “Never Still” campaign. The film is a nostalgic reflection of life and experience that follows James on a journey back to his hometown where he built the I Promise School, a new learning institution that opened earlier this year. He looks back on some of his greatest achievements and determines whether it is time to retire. The whole campaign chronicles James as he takes the wisdom he gained from his years as a traveling basketball player to project his future life and plans. A further part of this launch is a conversation with the artistic director of Dior Men Kim Jones and Chinese pianist Yuja Wang — all three discuss the importance of purposeful travel as an ingredient of success.
Making its debut at Frieze New York, Rimowa resurrected a classic piece from its archive with the help of artist Daniel Arsham. Based on retro camera cases, the pair worked on a sculptural piece inspired by archaeology and natural material erosion — it’s meant to be a commentary on how quickly technology becomes obsolete. The Rimowa x Daniel Arsham Eroded Attache is encased in a metallic briefcase and comes with art handling gloves, a further means to preserve its status as a cultural artifact. The piece is currently being auctioned (along with a signed drawing of the artwork and a personal letter from Arsham) online at Sotheby’s ahead of a wide release on May 17th.

Highlights of the kit include the Aesop Geranium Leaf body cleanser and body balm, the Parsley Seed facial cleanser, anti-oxidant facial toner, and anti-oxidant serum, as well as mouthwash and toothpaste.

As part of its larger redesign, Rimowa has unveiled a new product line with cult label Off-White. The new sleek product incorporates the raw edge of Virgil Abloh’s famed streetwear, while highlighting the functional and polished aesthetic of the German luggage brand. Made from a polycarbonate material, the suitcase is transparent and complemented by black accents for the handles and wheels. Be warned — if you’re traveling this summer with a bag this fresh, someone’s bound to try and steal it. And the transparent thing probably doesn’t help. Stay safe!
The bag will launch on June 20th in Paris, and will be available at Rimowa and Off-White stores and online on the 25th.
For summer, be sure to travel in ~style~. Rimowa and Supreme just revealed a new line of luggage, set to be released in Rimowa stores this Saturday, April 14th. The new line, which consists of updated versions of the aluminum Topas Multiwheel series, is available in either white or black, and features a slightly obscured but still loud and distinct Supreme logo printed on the side — easy to pick out on a conveyor belt for sure. Happy travels!

On a jet-setting mission of global domination, the technologically inclined luggage company RIMOWA is bringing its advanced travel software to Asia. Partnering with airline EVA Air in an effort to digitalize the skies, the expansion arrives on the heels of RIMOWA’s resurrection of the classic Junkers F13 plane, proving the brand’s commitment to revamping classic travel means for the modern globetrotter. Through the partnership, EVA Air becomes the first airline in the world to use the Electronic Tag systemwide, expanding on the path fellow flight company Lufthansa first paved alongside the luggage innovator in the beginning of 2016. With a goal to make flying as succinct and painless as possible, the RIMOWA luggage collection uses an accompanying smartphone app that checks in and pairs a traveler’s luggage with a digital tag, freeing the user from those time-consuming check in lines. Travelers in Asia will finally have the means to fly smarter, not harder, through RIMOWA’s state of the art technological travel update.
The EVA Air systemwide RIMOWA partnership will go into effect starting December 1, 2016.
“The mother of all commercial aircraft” debuts a triumphant return from luggage-designer Rimowa. After seven years of research and planning, the Annelise 2 – a name inspired by one of the first Junkers F13 planes – took flight and soared through the Swiss Alps, a masterful replica of the world’s first all-metal commercial aircraft that blazed a prolific trail in modern-day passenger aviation. The original, a product of the early 1900s by Professor Hugo Junkers, and the replica both feature an open cockpit design which, in the recent christening take-off, was occupied by test pilot Oliver Bachmann alongside Rimowa President and CEO Dieter Morszeck. With over 12,000 hours of painstaking reconstruction and a Pratt & Whitney Wasp cylinder radial engine included in the high-powered machine, this labor of love was one of intense interest to Morszeck. “Hugo Junkers was the first person to use duralumin in aircraft construction. Around the world, grooved sheet metal became the hallmark of Junkers aircraft and Rimowa suitcases,” Morszeck commented. “This is why I followed and supported the construction of an airworthy Junkers F13. I wanted to give back the world an important cultural asset – not in a museum, but where it belongs: in the skies.”
