Gentle Fendi Unveils Eyewear in Superbly Strange Video

Fendi has collaborated with Korean eyewear designer Gentle Monster on a capsule collection of limited-edition eyewear. Mixing compelling and current styles with exquisite craftsmanship (manufactured by SAFILO), the Gentle Fendi range is a sleek option of timeless eyewear that’s perfect for summer style flexes. The first style is a thin metallic frame with tinted colored lenses that evoke the Y2K trend of yesteryear, while the second style is a more traditional yet modernized Top Gun aviator look. Both aesthetics are reflected in a trippy visual campaign that finds models testing out the eyewear while observing giant bacteria-looking cells against a pastel backdrop. See for yourself in the video above.

The Gentle Fendi collection is available in select Fendi and Gentle Monster stores and online now.

Lil Wayne Helps Launch Ugg x Bape Footwear

Two beloved jewels that emerged as trend pioneers in the early ’00s have teamed up on a limited-edition range of cozy summer footwear. Australian footwear brand Ugg and Japenese streetwear label Bape have unveiled two new shoe models that perfectly marry their signature styles: the Sneaker is a chunky shoe that is lined with Ugg’s distinct yet breathable sherpa and embellished with a shooting star detail on the exterior, while the Xavier Fur Logo Slide is peak branded luxury comfort, with each shoe spelling out ‘BAPE.’ Lil Wayne models the styles in an international campaign was shot by Neil Favila. It’s safe to say that the ’90s revival is ending and clearing the way for more retro-aughts trends to emerge.

The UGG x BAPE collection launches on April 27 at select Bape stores. Check out some of the looks below.

The 2020 Lincoln Corsair Mixes Luxury with the Extreme

During the New York International Auto Show this weekend, Lincoln will unveil the all-new Corsair. Part of a larger series of updated SUVs, the two-row 2020 Lincoln Corsair is a spacious and sleek upgrade to the vehicle. New features include Phone As a Key capability, a state-of-the-art display system, as well as the conventional Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 driver assistant. The new car effortlessly maintains a sanctuary-like feel in its interior (Perfect Position seats provide the driver with optimum comfort and sound alerts were recorded by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra), while yielding features that can take on even the toughest terrain.

“Human hands worked to develop those sculpted S-curves and sides, all of which play off light and movement. It is virtually sculpture in motion, a vehicle definitely meant to seduce,” David Woodhouse, director of design, said in a statement.

The new 2020 Lincoln Corsair will be available in dealerships later this fall.

Gucci Décor Wants You to Live in its Pop-Up Shop

Gucci is expanding its home range line with an immersive pop-up shop in Milan as part of this year’s Salone del Mobile. The new temporary space is an expansive two-floor ordeal, filled with the Italian designer’s fantastically weird furniture and other household goods.

The space showcases the wide selection of wallpapers and other available tapestries while furniture pieces (both original designs and repurposed antiques) are displayed around the space in a gallery-like arrangement. It’s basically a store one can only dream of living in. To enhance the experience, the Gucci app features exclusive information on the pieces as well as an augmented reality component for those not in Milan that lets interested buyers see how the piece would look in their own homes. The future really is now.

The Gucci Décor temporary store is open now at 19 Via Santo Spirito. Check out some pictures of the space below.

Dior Maison x Dimore Studio Unveil 2019 Collection in Milan

Dior Maison has partnered with Dimore Studio to display 14 pieces at the annual Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan. The latest example of the worlds of fashion and furniture colliding — just earlier this week Raf Simons detailed plans to open a cafe to showcase furniture he’s created — the Italian studio were commissioned to produce a limited-series of pieces for the international design event. The range of pieces marries both designer’s signature elements, using a variety of materials like plexiglass, mixed metals (with an emphasis on gold, one of Dior’s signature colors), and textiles to bring the legacy of the French designer into the present.

The collection was presented earlier this week and will be available for pre-order for one year. Check out an interview with the duo behind Dimore Studio below.

Casablanca Turns Maxfield into a Tennis Court for Coachella

Famed LA boutique Maxfield is getting a makeover just in time for Coachella, courtesy of luxury athleisure brand Casablanca. Starting tomorrow, the store will be transformed into a tennis court that displays a 17-piece capsule collection.  Guests who need a break from the three-day festival (or just a break from the festival fashion faux-pas, let’s be real) will have the opportunity to try on the collection on the tropical-themed tennis court — the pieces retain Casablanca’s signature relaxed vibe, with loose but structured fits and airy fabrics complemented by summery fruit prints. Definitely worth the trip off the festival grounds to cop a new look before Childish Gambino and Ariana Grande take the stage.

The Casablanca x Maxfield collection will be available from April 11-25 exclusively at 8825 Melrose Avenue. Check out some of the looks below.

R13 Opens in SoHo with Post-Punk Industrial Space

Inspired by themes of the “Other America,” luxury basics label R13 has opened a sleek new shop on SoHo’s Howard Street, alongside neighboring shopping destinations including Opening Ceremony, Rick Owens, and Reformation. The boutique — the designer’s first since the brand was founded back in 2009 — is a sprawling and immersive space that pays homage to various American subcultures. The store maintains a minimal and industrial interior aesthetic (the new normal in contemporary downtown retail) that’s contrasted with a series of large LED walls streaming various footage that’s more nightclub than clothing store.

R13 is open now at 34 Howard Street.

A Closer Look at Supreme x Jean-Paul Gaultier

After Supreme announced its newest designer collaboration with the French couturier Jean-Paul Gaultier, the internet was thrown into another streetwear-goes-luxe frenzy. While the New York skate brand is no stranger to collaborations — I’m pretty sure its collaboration with Louis Vuitton two years ago is what reignited the fanny pack craze — this partnership seemed like a genuine pairing between two masterminds, and one that cements streetwear’s residence in the industry. Supreme remains a leading authority of streetwear, while Gaultier’s iconic work has permeated pop culture for over 30 years. (Who hasn’t seen one of his body-shaped perfume bottles or the Madonna cone bra? Supreme even cast Madonna’s daughter Lourdes in the campaign as a tribute to the designer’s muse.) When the collection officially drops tomorrow, it’s sure to sell out before the page even loads. We take a closer look at some of the inspiration behind the latest Supreme collab.

The ‘Fight Racism’ Collection

fight

Neither brand is stranger to making a statement and both adopted a punk ‘fuck authority’ mindset in both their careers, so it seemed a natural instinct to integrate Gaultier’s signature bold collage print from his ‘Fight Racism’ collection of the ’90s.

Jean-Paul Gaultier S/S ’90

pin

While Gaultier had frequently blurred gender lines in his presentations, this was one of the collections that were able to subvert the business suit. By contrasting the utilitarian style of the silhouette with cargo pockets and industrial belt buckles, it was one of the first collections to combine formal wear with sport and workwear.

Jean-Paul Gaultier S/S ’90

vest

Another example of Gaultier doing it first with the utility vest. While it’s now taken the place of the side bag trend of yesteryear, it was another example of transforming the mundane into a fashionable accessory — Virgil Abloh showed similar pieces during his menswear debut for Louis Vuitton FW ’19.

Jean-Paul Gaultier SS ’01

floral-pant

Plaid and florals have frequently been used in many of Gaultier’s collections, but this darker and more subtle print seemed lifted directly from the designer’s Ss ’01 Couture show and incorporated into a casual pair of sweatpants. Now that’s how you do hi-lo fashion.

Supreme x Jean-Paul Gaultier drops in select stores and online (and on Grailed) tomorrow.

Louis Vuitton Updates its Iconic Luggage

Further cementing its status as the ultimate luxury travel staple, Louis Vuitton is releasing its second line of Horizon Soft Luggage. Designed by industrial designer Marc Newson, the range of rolling luggage is a departure from the label’s signature leather bags, instead utilizing a more utilitarian shape that aims for practicality and function in addition to style. The exterior of the bags is composed of a thermo-knit shell — made from a new yarn that features elastic and thermo-fusible threads — displaying a subtle integration of state-of-the-art design technology. Of course, the luggage is adorned with Newson’s interpretation of the ubiquitous monogram as a reminder that LV remains the ultimate travel companion.

The Louis Vuitton Horizon Soft luggage is available at select stores and online now.
