Rimowa Takes Us Home for the Holidays

Whether returning back to New York, Paris, Cologne, or anywhere else in the world, Rimowa is ready to accompany its patrons wherever they are headed for the holidays. The luggage maker’s new holiday campaign features families, friends, and lovers as they make their way home from the newly opened TWA Hotel at John F. Kenndy airport in New York. Despite delays, missed flights, and even potential tumultuous weather, it’s clear Rimowa is prepared to brave any obstacles to make it home.

Directed by American filmmaker Gillian Garcia, the campaign features an intimate series of vignettes with a nostalgic spin. Titled “Some gifts are worth the distance,” the highlighted products throughout the film a true and loyal company to all the travelers this holiday season. Watch the video above now.

Just Guys Bein’ Dudes in the Louis Vuitton Pre-Spring/Summer 2020 Campaign

Since joining Louis Vuitton as men’s artistic director, Virgil Abloh has focused on the general idea of growth and boyhood — the first campaign he oversaw, for Spring/Summer 2019, even featured an actual toddler. This theme is explored further in the French designer’s latest campaign for Pre-Spring/Summer 2020. Reportedly inspired by “the collective energy of today’s youth,” the new image series continues this narrative with a diverse cast of young men just… hanging out. Just boys being boys, in non-toxic masculinity way.

The images are a refreshing departure from the norm — there’s a solid yet tender brotherhood that’s established throughout the campaign, with guys playing pool, hanging out on a roof with luggage, and leaning on each other for support (aw). It’s a subtle but intimate look at male relationships and how beneficial they can be to the youth. The campaign highlights the label’s recently launched men’s jewelry line in addition to its color-blocked and monogrammed luggage and other tastefully dyed apparel. Take a look at some of the images in the gallery above.

WTAPS and Herschel Release Military-Inspired Baggage

Herschel Supply has partnered with WTAPS on a line of military-inspired collection of bags and luggage. This is the second collaboration between the Canadian accessories brand and the Japanese streetwear brand, following an earlier collection released in 2017. For winter, the two brands are launching a variety of rolling luggage, backpacks, and messenger bags that have seamlessly fused the urban sensibility of WTAPS with the durable craftsmanship of Herschel.

While the Japanese designer is known for its eye-catching streetwear, the new range is refreshingly understated. WTAPS Reconnaissance for Herschel Supply Collection is redolent of traditional army gear — items are straightforward and utterly practical and made available in cadet green, steel black, and (of course) a classic camouflage print.

The WTAPS Reconnaissance for Herschel Supply Collection will be available in select Herschel stores and online tomorrow, November 2.

Check Out the RIMOWA x Dior Oblique Luggage Capsule

Luxury luggage maker RIMOWA has collaborated with Dior on a series of bags imprinted with a monogrammed logo print with the unique oblique pattern on the signature aluminum suitcases. For the launch, the designer’s new store on Champs-Elyseées brought in a whole RIMOWA helicopter and positioned the cases against a cloudy backdrop for the Kim Jones creations.

A passionate traveler himself, Jones envisioned the cabin and trunk cases as well as a hand suitcase full in signature Dior Oblique motif created in 1967 in three colorways: silver, matte black, and blue. Smaller cases are available in additional colors as well as a leather cross-body strap embossed with “Christian Dior” for accessories and carry-on items. An exclusive champagne case was also designed to hold a single bottle of sparkly along with six Dior Maison champagne flutes. Focused on dedication and heritage within the French luxury world, the marriage of RIMOWA and Dior is a timeless setting for contemporary innovation.

The collection is available now until November 13 at the Dior store at 127 Avenue des Champs-Elysées in Paris, 8éme.

Rimowa Releases New Line of Luggage

Growing up, my family only relied on one set of luggage for at least decade — it was leather, durable, reliable, yet unremarkable. And because of this I always thought that the suitcase design industry moved at a somewhat glacial pace in comparison to its fashion counterpart. But something has happened since my adolescence, where luggage is now as stylish an accessory as a utility vest or impossibly small framed sunglasses. Just check out the holographic Louis Vuitton bag that made waves upon its earlier this spring and is reselling for over $10 thousand. For a generation that loves to travel — ‘Millennials crave experiences!’ marketing agencies remind us frequently — it’s clear that luggage is just another opportunity to flex.

German brand Rimowa has emerged as one of the leaders of the high-fashion luggage revolution, having already partnered with it-brands like Supreme and Virgil Abloh’s Off-White. But with its newest release, a 4-piece collection inspired by the aerial views of certain locations, it makes a return to utility. The concept behind the RIMOWA Essential collection is pretty simple, with colors inspired by picturesque landmarks (the Coral style is inspired by the Pink Lake in Australia, the Yellow model is inspired by the canola flowers of Tuscany, etc), but the resulting pieces are a timeless statement that will outlast trendier bags of the season.

The Rimowa Essential collection launches in Rimowa stores and online on June 6. Check out the campaign below.

Louis Vuitton Updates its Iconic Luggage

Further cementing its status as the ultimate luxury travel staple, Louis Vuitton is releasing its second line of Horizon Soft Luggage. Designed by industrial designer Marc Newson, the range of rolling luggage is a departure from the label’s signature leather bags, instead utilizing a more utilitarian shape that aims for practicality and function in addition to style. The exterior of the bags is composed of a thermo-knit shell — made from a new yarn that features elastic and thermo-fusible threads — displaying a subtle integration of state-of-the-art design technology. Of course, the luggage is adorned with Newson’s interpretation of the ubiquitous monogram as a reminder that LV remains the ultimate travel companion.

The Louis Vuitton Horizon Soft luggage is available at select stores and online now.

This Ferragamo Bag Will Carry You Through Winter

duffle

As the holidays quickly approach, so does the scrambling winter travel anxiety — and, more importantly, what luggage to carry us through it. Luckily, the Ferragamo FW18 Dynamo duffle bag is here to help. The leather piece is finished with soft calfskin, complete with an adjustable shoulder strap and contrasting inner handles that can be pulled out for an extra color accent to brighten up any winter gloominess.

As the bag itself is worth more than its potential contents, it’s the perfect piece to travel with and turn heads at the airport (without raising a security concern) this holiday season.
