Saint Laurent’s Chiaroscuro-Inspired Spring 2020 Collection
Saint Laurent just revealed its Spring 2020 collection under the artistic direction of Anthony Vaccarello shot on the American West Coast by director Nathalie Canguilhem. The featured short-film depicts a dramatic opposition between light and dark, day and night, and black and white for the first half of the roll. Models strut down dark highways in classic Saint Laurent-black head to toe contrasted by entirely white pool days. While the night ready-to-wear is provocative and tailored, the day whites are playful with feathers, silks, and oversized accessories. The two then collide when nightwear enters daylight and colors come alive with bright blues from the poolside and green from trees. One model featured even sports dusty pink hair. To remind the viewer of the brand, the video ends with a model laying on a YSL flower-adorned float across a pool.
