Phoebe Philo Is Plotting Her Comeback
During Phoebe Philo‘s acclaimed tenure at Céline, she transformed the label with her minimal and elegant take on womenswear. Her reign came to a sad end in 2017 when the designer stepped down from the house (where she was replaced by Hedi Slimane) and out of the spotlight for good. According to WWD, she is now rumored to return to the industry with her own eco-friendly fashion label or a possible role at Azzedine Alaïa. The French designer has had an extensive career, beginning with working alongside Stella McCartney at Chloé, before eventually succeeding her at the house for the next five years. Perhaps following her mentor McCartney’s influence, she is ready to return to fashion while promoting a sustainable cause. While many French houses are adapting eco-conscious practices, no major designer is entirely sustainable as is McCartney’s eponymous brand. No matter what she plans next, industry eyes are eagerly anticipating Philo’s next move.
