Maluma and J Balvin Are a Dream Duo in “Que Pena”
The two ultimate principes of reggaeton Maluma and J Balvin have joined efforts for a new song and video, “Qué Pena.” Ever since both superstar Latin-American singers were sidelined at the Latin Grammys this year, their response is a powerful clapback.
In the video, Maluma debuts a new bleached ‘do while Balvin keeps his hair in a rainbow assortment, which he unveiled during Paris Fashion Week. The two appear as the ultimate machos, clad in ironed button-down suits and a little bit of bling (shout out to Maluma’s Bvlgari collar). And while the song is a classic reggaeton tune, the video features a sexy tango club. The boys are then mesmerized by the dancing and end up playing poker in a private room. While still easily identifiable as a Latin video, “Qué Pena” is surely a grow-up iteration from both singers without overly vulgar lyrics and video. Perhaps Maluma and J Balvin are paving the future of reggaeton here?
