Stop by Off-White’s Jewelry Pop-Up Shop in Paris

As everyone heads to Paris for the final stretch of a seemingly never-ending fashion month, Off-White is opening a pop-up shop at Rue Saint-Honoré. Hoping to further promote its accessories range (beyond the yellow belts and chain-purses that are regular guests in most street style photos), the temporary shop will carry the Milan-based label’s unisex jewelry line and eyewear range from the Spring/Summer 2020 collection. Some key pieces include chunky branded silver rings that feature the brand’s arrow motif and assertive logo and accompanying earrings. On the other hand, the sunglasses selection is charmingly retro, with oversized ski lenses accented by brightly colored frames.

The Off-White Paris pop-up is open now at 229 Rue Saint-Honoré. It will be open for the rest of the week until March 3.

Persol Collaborated with APC on a Range of Sunglasses

In a brand first, Italian sunglasses maker Persol has collaborated with minimal clothing brand A.P.C. on a limited-edition collection of its popular 649 style as part of its Spring/Summer 2020 collection. The new range reimagines the oversized frames, which were first launched in 1957, in three summer-ready new colorways (gold, white, and brown) and features distinct silver detailing.

The campaign was shot by Sam Rock at A.P.C.’s headquarters in Paris and features a rock star cast of rock stars. Artists Sky Ferreira and Jeremy Mount (of Metronomy) are photographed in a car, looking as nonchalant as any musician should be, along with Jean Touitou, who founded A.P.C. in 1987.

The A.P.C. x Persol collection is available online now at Persol.com.

DITA-Lancier is Eyewear for Extreme Sports

For 20 years, DITA has been at the forefront of merging innovative research with bold design. Now the Los Angeles-based label has launched DITA-Lancier, a 16-piece collection of eyewear imbued with performance technology to take on land, sea, and air. To test out the frames, the brand has tapped some of the world’s top athletes. Formula One racers Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly opt for a titanium style that dramatically reduces blinding glare. Olympic gold-winning sailor Peter Burling prefers a pair with embedded polarization technology. And Kirby Chambliss—a champion aerobatic pilot—sports lenses that guarantee minimal distortion at every elevation.

EPILUXURY is Redefining Premium Eyewear

Renowned for its handmade sunglasses, DITA has been a leading entity in the luxury eyewear space for over two decades. But with an ambitious new design initiative, the eyewear brand is exploring entirely new territory with DITA-EPILUXURY. Designed and developed over the course of two years, EPILUXURY is the next level future of luxury based on five quintessential design pillars: functional performance, engineering technology, artisan craftsmanship, timeless design, and personal exclusivity.

These tenets can all be seen on the label’s new updated models of popular styles — each frame is revised with new premium perforated metal structures and exaggerated frames that can be changed for optimum convenience. It’s the combination of innovative materials and incorporation of new design technologies with traditional craftwork that fuses two standards of luxury to create something new and forward.

Ferragamo Recruits Designers for New Eyewear Capsule

The newest eyewear collection by Salvatore Ferragamo perfectly captures the essence of Italian design with only eight frames. Simple and sophisticated with just a hint of flair, each pair of frames yields a distinct appeal while adhering to the designer’s knack for modern cool.

This was the result of the designer partnering with 4 local creatives — landscape designer Derek Castiglioni, furniture designer Francesco Meda, interior designer Rodrigo Izquierdo, and photographer Guido Taroni — on the collection. Each injected their own distinct perspective into the styles and will be forever included in the Ferragamo family as immortalized in the accompanying #ItalianExcellence campaign.

“Family is one of the key facets of Italian culture and I’m delighted to welcome four new members to the Ferragamo family today,” creative director Paul Andrew said in a statement. “To create 2019’s Men’s eyewear capsule we researched archival shapes from the 1950s and 1960s then combined ultramodern materials with the Gancini emblem of the house to build a line of products that embody the values of Italian excellence that are both timeless and contemporary. Those values are shared by Derek, Francesco, Guido, and Rodrigo: four brilliant individuals who share a deep connection forged by Italian culture.”

The collection features sleek and thin wireframes in an aviator style as well as the designer’s own take on the wayfarer. These classic styles are modernized with premium materials, including lightweight metals, tortoiseshell, and contrasting acetate accents. Each design includes the designer’s signature Gancini emblem, rounding out the perfect combination of tradition with innovation.

The Ferragamo SS19 eyewear capsule is available online now.

Rimowa Releases New Line of Luggage

Growing up, my family only relied on one set of luggage for at least decade — it was leather, durable, reliable, yet unremarkable. And because of this I always thought that the suitcase design industry moved at a somewhat glacial pace in comparison to its fashion counterpart. But something has happened since my adolescence, where luggage is now as stylish an accessory as a utility vest or impossibly small framed sunglasses. Just check out the holographic Louis Vuitton bag that made waves upon its earlier this spring and is reselling for over $10 thousand. For a generation that loves to travel — ‘Millennials crave experiences!’ marketing agencies remind us frequently — it’s clear that luggage is just another opportunity to flex.

German brand Rimowa has emerged as one of the leaders of the high-fashion luggage revolution, having already partnered with it-brands like Supreme and Virgil Abloh’s Off-White. But with its newest release, a 4-piece collection inspired by the aerial views of certain locations, it makes a return to utility. The concept behind the RIMOWA Essential collection is pretty simple, with colors inspired by picturesque landmarks (the Coral style is inspired by the Pink Lake in Australia, the Yellow model is inspired by the canola flowers of Tuscany, etc), but the resulting pieces are a timeless statement that will outlast trendier bags of the season.

The Rimowa Essential collection launches in Rimowa stores and online on June 6. Check out the campaign below.

Gentle Fendi Unveils Eyewear in Superbly Strange Video

Fendi has collaborated with Korean eyewear designer Gentle Monster on a capsule collection of limited-edition eyewear. Mixing compelling and current styles with exquisite craftsmanship (manufactured by SAFILO), the Gentle Fendi range is a sleek option of timeless eyewear that’s perfect for summer style flexes. The first style is a thin metallic frame with tinted colored lenses that evoke the Y2K trend of yesteryear, while the second style is a more traditional yet modernized Top Gun aviator look. Both aesthetics are reflected in a trippy visual campaign that finds models testing out the eyewear while observing giant bacteria-looking cells against a pastel backdrop. See for yourself in the video above.

The Gentle Fendi collection is available in select Fendi and Gentle Monster stores and online now.

Acne Studios’ Retro Eyewear is Remarkably Fresh

For better or worse, the tiny eyewear trend has left almost as quickly as it arrived. Luckily, Acne Studios is here to fill that tiny-frame-sized hole in our hearts with a retro-inspired SS19 eyewear collection. Inspired by the mod shapes of the latter 20th century — think cat eye, wayfarer, and round John-Lennon-esque circle frames — the new collection from the Swedish label enhances these familiar styles with color contrasting details. The result is funky and versatile, with a happy mix of major eyewear trends from the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s that feels especially now. Studded frames and sleek thin temples stand out as more traditional options, while a pair of thicker shades is embellished with a barbell hoop — try that for a piercing glare. (Sorry.)

The Acne Studios SS19 eyewear is available in select stores and online now. Check out some of the styles below.

Optical Accessories and Bicycles Collide in New Moscot x Ascari Collab

moscot

Eyewear designer MOSCOT and luxury bicycle maker Ascari have recently launched a collaboration through an extremely limited capsule collection that marries optics with bicycles.

Combining the American brand’s century plus sunglass crafting experience with the Brooklyn-based bicycle designer’s hand-wrapped leather technique, the two have come together to create a small 50-piece collection available in both prescription and sunglass lenses. The models featured in the collection serve as an elevated version of MOSCOT’s classic Lemtosh frame in tortoise, boasting gold titanium rivets and detailing. Ascari adds it’s signature technique on the sunglass’ temple, which were carefully hand-wrapped by founder Helio Ascari himself.

The glasses range from $560-590 and are available in MOSCOT stores, Moscot.com, and AscariBicycles.com now.

If you’re looking to elevate your sunglass collection for the summer (or just tired of the inescapable tiny frames), Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster has released it’s futuristic capsule collection, “Once Upon A Future,” featuring four new edgy styles: Solaris, Moor, Voyager, and TICKTOCK.

The designer is renowned for pushing boundaries of contemporary eyewear, consistently incorporating a large array of unique futuristic motifs. True to form, the newest collection is meant to support the brand’s imagination of seeing humans and aliens living cohesively, which tbh, doesn’t seem that far off.

The collection ranges from $280-$320 and is now available online.
