Lucky Blue Smith Introduces KITH x Versace Menswear

While the collection debuted during last NYFW, Kith x Versace has just released its first campaign starring supermodels Lucky Blue Smith and Bella Hadid (who is featured in its women’s campaign). Both models have worked with each designer before, and this collaboration marks the first large-scale luxury partnership for the New York-based streetwear label and Versace’s first mass collaboration since it worked with H&M back in 2011.

Items from the collection combine the signature opulence of Versace (including the brand’s classic colors, silhouettes, and loud prints) with Kith’s unique city edge, resulting in over 100 styles. The men’s collection includes outerwear (including camel hair topcoats and velour puffer jackets), formalwear (silk blazers), sportswear, accessories, and footwear. The collection also marks the first time in history that the quintessential Medusa logo has been redesigned.

KITH x Versace will be available online on February 15th, and at KITH and Versace flagship stores worldwide.

Versace to Debut Pre-Fall in New York

On December 2nd, Versace will be host its first Pre-Fall show as part of New York’s inaugural December fashion week. This is a first-of-its-kind for the label (which was recently bought by Michael Kors), but the show also holds special significance because it will fall on what would have been the 71st birthday of the late Gianni Versace. Further details of the collection and show have yet to be disclosed but we can expect to hear and see more coming soon.

The roster for the December event is stacking up quite well so far, with powerhouses like Chanel reportedly scheduled to show on Decembert 4th at Métiers d’Art collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Other designers traveling to show include Valentino  and Dior, which is also debuting its first pre-fall show, who will stage shows in Tokyo in November.

GMC Ventures into Fashion with Michael Bastian

“A well put together man is said to be…sharp.”

So states Detroit-based car manufacturer GMC as it looks to update and drive into the first New York Fashion Week Men’s in crisp, precise style. Launching this week in collaboration with American menswear designer Michael Bastian, GMC’s latest addition to their Precision campaign—the car manufacturer’s first foray into the world of high fashion—highlights the complete lineup of the ever-popular Denali sub-brand that supplements its greater collection. To do this, Bastian, who agreed to the project for the exciting opportunity to mix high-luxury brands with automotive culture, delves deep into what makes an American man “sharp” in a new short-film, “The Sharp American,” which supplements the just-released TV spot. Directed by the acclaimed Arnaud Boutin, the film features perspectives from Bastian, along with photographer Michael Avedon, and musician Twin Shadow, on how to create an American man that stands out using the precision of their craft. “As we put the finishing touches on our upcoming Spring 2016 runway show at the first dedicated New York Men’s Week,” Bastian states, “GMC gave us an invaluable perspective on how a premium brand outside of fashion explores cut, detail, and precision.”

“The Sharp American” will premiere during New York Fashion Week Men’s.

Cultures clash in Billy Reid‘s “instinctual” Autumn/Winter 2015 collection, where outerwear—in various ’60s, western, and southern inspired iterations—shines the brightest amongst a gleaming assortment of relaxed menswear in materials of extreme exoticism.

NYFW: Backstage Duckie Brown Autumn/Winter 2015

Vulnerable in both emotive thought and physical material, Duckie Brown‘s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection—perhaps the last runway show in the near future for the brand, as Steven Cox hinted to Tim Blanks—reveals a dramatically mature style for the label. Instead of the usual seasonal embellishments, plunging silk buttondowns were paired with pleated trousers and transparent, loose fits for a sartorial awakening of the Duckie man.

NYFW: Perry Ellis Autumn/Winter 2015 Runway Show

Newly minted Creative Director Michael Maccari presents his second collection for Perry Ellis with an almost-athletic array of stripped down utilitarian-inspired suiting that somehow manages to echo both a futuristic style as well as the preppy nostalgia of the brand’s birth. Advancing the idea of a suit and tie to new heights—think unconventional layers, accessories with bright, graphic slogans, and a flexibility towards proportions—the new collection emphatically declares “Very Perry” is very much here.

Despite the context of a standing presentation, Ernest Alexander‘s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection—through forest-colored wool tailoredwear, vibrant pops of rich colors, and fur cameos—evoked the traveled journey of a seasoned explorer. Celebrating both the destinations and the items collected upon each adventure, the seasonal offering marries the Aztec southwest with the tranquility of east coast artisanship.

Architect and Harvard professor turned designer Carlos Garciavelez makes an even more known name for himself with his debut collection this season at New York Men’s Day. Under his eponymously titled label, GARCIAVELEZ, the Autumn/Winter 2015 collection arrives just as smart as its maker; in the form of formalwear infused with a youthful perspective and futuristic techniques—think paneled neoprene blazers and ombre lined sports coats—for the smoothest transition from the desk, to dinner, and then, of course, the dance floor.

Take a hearty helping of southwestern style, add a dash of Hollywood glamour—particularly that of the fast-talking and even quicker walking late ’60s—mix in fabrics of the wool and mohair variety, and the end result is David Hart‘s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection; western workwear re-worked with an eccentrically modern twist.
