Fendi MoonStar

Fendi Tapped MoonStar for its Latest Sneaker

Fendi‘s Spring/Summer 2020 collection was inspired by Silvia Venturini Fendi’s garden, with the botanical theme featured prominently throughout the collection. In particular, the footwear — made in collaboration with the Japanese cult shoe brand MoonStar known for its vulcanized shoes made by heating natural rubber — emphasized this gardening mood. For the collaboration, Moonstar incorporated its material process into a series of canvas high-tops and sneakers that feature the Italian designer’s FF logo and Pequin striped motif against an earthy color palette. Even if they’re not the ideal footwear to tackle any early gardening projects, they’re the perfect spring shoe.

The Fendi x Moonstar shoes are now available at Fendi stores and online.

Jil Sander slippers

Jil Sander Makes A Case for the Men’s Slipper

Jil Sander has made the men’s slipper a staple for Spring/Summer 2020. Designed in an array of monochromes and primary color options, the glove-like leather slipper is the ultimate must-have. As fashion moves into the comfortable front, the function piece like the slipper is a step forward to a loose and carefree fit.

The footwear is made with soft lambskin leather and rounded out with a soft and functional rubber sole. Borrowed from the traditional martial arts practice, the slipper is made for movement and adjusts to the shape of the wearer’s foot. Handmade with additions of whipstitch finishing and embroideries, we are wishing for summer to hurry up.

bamboo sneakers

Take a Look at the World’s First Bamboo Sneakers

With world markets constantly seeking new clean and sustainable innovations, shoes remain the most difficult products to recreate. Emerging underground cult sneaker brand CARIUMA has succeeded in creating a completely recyclable sneaker out of bamboo. The innovative piece already has a 5000-strong waitlist of eager people waiting to try the shoe.

CARIUMA, based in Rio de Janeiro, uses its own unique blend of natural and recycled materials to create the first-ever sustainable bamboo knit and Sugar Cane EVA shoe that is entirely carbon neutral. The brand also recycles 100% of the water used in the process and makes sure that the bamboo requires no fertilizer and self-regenerates. Further, according to their Code Of Conduct, each factory must comply with fair wages and conditions for all its employees. This results in 360-degree transparency and overall brand responsibility that culminates in truly groundbreaking footwear.

Atoms shoes

Atoms Opens Retail Location in SoHo

Ever since launching this past June, Atoms, a custom sneaker brand, has introduced an alternative, updated way of choosing the ideal shoe. The brand offers 47 sizes of sneakers including quarter sizes ensuring that the shoe fits the foot — also meaning that you might end up with two different sized shoes (60% of people have different sized feet).

The brainchild of Waqas Ali and Sidra Qasim, Atoms is the product of two-years worth of research. It turns out that buyers want a simple shoe, a transitional one, one that is easy to tie, and one that isn’t visually overly loud. Atoms shoes are monochrome, including a neon green option available only at the pop-up, with stretchy laces.

The concept includes an in-person shoe pairing experience where one goes home with their perfect pair. The online version features a test with then three pairs of shoes sent over to choose the footwear per foot. Being that the brand’s shoes are either all-white or all-black, maybe it’s time to mix up the coloring as well?

Atoms shoes retail at $179 per pair at Atoms.com.

Mark McNairy Club Monaco Shoes Loafers Collaboration

Club Monaco + Mark McNairy

Mark McNairy Club Monaco Shoes Loafers CollaborationThe flippant Mark McNairy isn’t exactly the designer you’d expect to sit down with decidedly polite Club Monaco, but then again, the unexpected is usually wherein lies the most unique creations. McNairy has collaborated with Club Monaco on nine of his most iconic shoes including suede tassel loafers in rich hues, army green suede derbys, tan slim chukka boots and a suede cap toe boot that will be perfect for the coming winter season. The result, a sauced up Monaco but a paired down McNairy. It works.
As part of Club Monaco’s Makers & Muses series to highlight the creative talents that the Club Monaco team admires most, it’s interesting to consider their selection of McNairy whose cult following of fashion-forward men, might not often head into stores like Club Monaco.
Club Monaco + Mark McNairy are available from $395 at clubmonaco.com
Nicholas Kirkwood Men's Shoes Spring Summer 2014 London Collections Men

Nicholas Kirkwood Men’s Shoes Spring/Summer 2014

Nicholas Kirkwood Men's Shoes Spring Summer 2014 London Collections MenFollowing the successful launch of the first men’s collection in January 2013, Nicholas Kirkwood is adding more styles in his offering of men’s footwear for next summer. Note the introduction of a thick lightweight rubber sole applied to brogues, while boots and loafers explore the idea of functionality and proportion within classic men’s footwear. Taken from the form given to sneakers in the 70’s the sole is seen across both dress and casual styles including the new loafer. Color-blocking and the use of contrast custom leathers and fabrics, raffia teamed with leather and a high-tech sports mesh mixed back with metallics in cooper, teal and wine showcase Kirkwood’s considered attention to line, and intricate detailing, while a textured calf in tan, black and platinum gives way to softer structures. The collection showed at London Collections: Men with an installation, designed by Mehrnoosh Khadivi from Craftwork Studio. Presented in an all-black environment of large monoliths and individual plinths, the space was in keeping with the aesthetic of the Kirkwood retail stores; clean lines with negative space in between objects.
