Opening Ceremony Enters China With Lunar New Year-Inspired Line

Fashion and lifestyle retailer Opening Ceremony debuts a collaboration with Pearl River Mart for a capsule inspired by the Chinese Lunar New Year. The downtown New York mainstay, which was inaugurated as Chinese Native Products in 1971, originally focused on the simple concept of introducing quality goods to America, later evolving into a destination of everything China—including even textiles and gowns.

Just announced, the new Opening Ceremony Celebrates Pearl River collection is a twist on “East Meets West” aesthetics with re-imagined Chinese jacquards, wide-legged trousers, and Mandarin collared jackets with denim accents. This modernist yin and yang metaphor is a feast of cultural interplay in the world of fashion and a testimony as friends and collaborators. This being one of the many China-inspired collaborations this year, Opening Ceremony also highlights two upcoming partnerships with Anna Sui and Vivienne Tam: two Chinese-American designers who defined fashion in the 20th century. Officially starting today, the year of the monkey is characterized as lively, curious, and innovative for those opting for opportunity, and marks the perfect entrance for the Opening Ceremony’s artistic road ahead.
