Macallan Launches Exclusive Estate Expression

Bringing their drinkers home, Macallan’s latest release is the Estate — a unique whisky made from the barley grown on the Easter Elchies home estate itself. The spirit is another celebration of the remarkable single-malt creating exclusive drinking experiences since the home-grown barley was previously only limited to the most exclusive and sought-after releases.

Macallan, which has been creating exceptional whisky since 1824, continues to bring new flavors to the scene. The Estate most resembles the existing Sherry Oak expression with its chestnut hue and warm wood spice notes. At first whiff, the spirit unveils a bouquet of cinnamon, orange oil, banana, and caramel. With a taste, the soft and warm notes of wood spice, dry oak, candied raisins, and fig open up. The final touch is a sweet citrus twist wrapping up the long finish.

Unsurprisingly, the complex whisky is sure to be a success as the first expression release after the opening of the new distillery last year. Macallan’s sustainable hobbit-shaped distillery now looks over the fields where the barley for the Estate was grown. The barley was then distilled just once a year over the course of a single week for the special edition. With an eye-swoon panorama, a new parent distillery, and its homeland in Scotland, the Estate is surely in good company.
