Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2020 Was Classic Raf

Following a sudden and quiet departure from Calvin Klein in December, the Belgian designer has shifted focus back to his eponymous line to do what he does best: elevate counterculture to the mainstream. Raf Simons‘ Spring/Summer 2020 collection is a catalog of classic Raf-isms – his incorporation of classic Americana imagery that he relied on heavily at Calvin Klein was given a sinister deconstructed twist, graphic prints were distorted and pinned on clothes in true punk fashion, and the models looked like they were either heading to or from a warehouse rave. For members of the Cult of Raf, it checks all the boxes that make his work so compelling after all these years. But for those who have always been confident in the designer’s ability to truly disrupt the menswear landscape, there’s always next season.
