Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka—whose work has been featured at New York’s MoMa and Cooper Hewitt Museum—designed the space of Issey Miyake‘s newly-opened Marunouchi store to showcase the contrast between history and the future, keeping in mind the fashion house’s longtime dedication to creating innovative products that benefit people in their every-day life. Heavily inspired by the color red, Yoshioka combined different textures and created triangles of red-dyed aluminum that seemingly float in the air above the hanging garments. Black, white, red, and blue dominate the space and the geometric and highly-angular interior decor perfectly reflects the carefully-constructed architectural pieces inside.
