Barneys and Vans Team Up Again for XO Collection

Barneys New York and Vans are at it again, releasing a brand new collaborative sneaker for the retailer’s infamous XO Collection. “It also allows us to cater directly to the customers,” says Barneys buyer Chris Pepe of the program, “and offer a concept that may not be done from a given brand internally.” The XO Collection made it’s big return this season (Common Projects finaled the project last December) with an adidas team-up, releasing limited edition pairs of two of the athletic brand’s most popular styles: the Stan Smith and the Superstar.

Prior to the release today, the luxury store and Vans teamed up previously for a woven leather version of the skate brand’s trademark checked slip-on that quickly became a streetstyle favorite. “We like that Vans is open to letting us add our spin on their classic silhouettes,” says Pepe. Now, the studded shoe is a brand new style for Vans, favoring aesthetic appeal over the brand’s typically strict adherence to a functional skate shoe.
