Washington DC Just Got Another Boutique Hotel

Riggs Washington DC is the capital’s newest boutique hotel in the city’s Penn Quarter neighborhood. The property features 181 guest rooms, a European brasserie-inspired café, and world-class cocktails from the London-based Mr.Lyan team.

The intimate and trendy hotel pays homage to the historic setting and the building’s own heritage — it used to be the Riggs National Bank which handled the personal finances of many US presidents. The rooms feature vault-inspired minibars, bespoke furnishings, vibrant fabrics, and marble bathrooms which add some freshness to the classic structure. Continuing this theme, the Café Riggs makes the most of its soaring ceiling and original architecture, with velvet seating and other pieces that punctuate it with modern flair.

Riggs Washinton DC

Riggs Washington DC is one of those places where old-school meets the new, but the actual show takes place in front of Silver Lyan’s 10-seat bar. Modern and minimal compared to Art Deco influences throughout the rest of the space, the bar is a low-key space that utilizes botany to master booze at a world-class level. That alone worth a weekend getaway to DC.
