WANT Les Essentials De La Vie Spring 2013 Look Book

We have to admit, there’s something about the name of WANT Les Essentiels De La Vie that we just understand here at Essential Homme. But more than just their tag, it’s that their streamlined designs also do an excellent job at being 100% functional—and that really makes us smile. Take, for instance, the brand new garment bag they’re launching for spring 2013, a perfect example of something so demure in dimension, slick in design, that you’d easily think it was a portfolio or something, rather than a fully equipped case for your suit and all of its possible accoutrements. And even when the brand gets a little crazy, here with italian beaded bags and (new for spring) belts, inspired by the bold designs of Moroccan Ben Ourain Rugs and Ghanian Asante Kente fabrics, the effect is still impossibly clean. So, they were showing us all the new goodies, we learned that the entire new spring 2013 collection was inspired by the design principles of Dieter Rams (who you may know from the German brand Braun)—melding the artists love of all things functional, simple, modern, timeless, durable with some really handsome spring colors. (And really, when you place blue and tan atop these designs, you get refined sea or pool side, the greens and red give you farmers market. They’re colors that almost make it too easy (by the way, that’s not a complaint). Actually, for being a collection, and a brand, that so clearly gets to the point, it’s still quite easy for their unique pieces to stimulate some excellent sartorial daydreams.
