Kith and G-Shock Drop a Rose Gold Timepiece

Another day, another Kith collab — in the last year, the streetwear label has partnered with New Balance, Bomber Skis, Nobu, and Malin + Goetz to name a few and shows no sign of slowing down. This time around (no pun intended) the New York-based brand partnered with Casio G-Shock once again on a limited-edition take on the watchmaker’s GM6900 watch. Thanks to the Kith touch, the traditionally bulky model has been softened with a rose gold metallic finish — the collab marks the first time the watch has received a metal bezel — and fine copper detailings, and the resin straps have been covered in the brand’s prominent logo monogram print. On top of a sweet design, the timepiece still retains necessary features including water resistance.

The Kith x G-Shock GM6900 watch will be available at Kith stores and online on February 10.

Hublot’s Black Magic: The Big Bang Unico

By leaving the face of the watch exposed, Hublot invites the wearer to get a glimpse into the mechanics and craftsmanship of one of the finest timepieces in recent memory. The Big Bang Unico Black Magic style is coated in a black ceramic finish that adds to its timeless and sleek style and regal appearance. Geometric cutouts and a structured black wristband complement the noble design of the watch, which is further ameliorated with technical capabilities, including a self-winding chronograph and flyback movement with a column wheel.

Gucci Celebrates the Launch of its Grip Collection

Taking over its SoHo store on Wooster Street, Gucci celebrated the launch of its first genderless watch collection. Designed by the brand’s enigmatic creative director Alessandro Michele, the Grip collection consists of three timeless styles that combine vintage and contemporary style — specifically skater culture — influences. Its name is even inspired by the grip tape that covers the top surface of a skateboard.

To celebrate the launch, the Italian designer invited a number of skaters and artists to its downtown store for a reception and release party. A few artists and skaters were invited to share their own stories for an accompanying digital project, which was projected and streamed on large screens placed throughout the event. Some notable guests included Tyler Blue Golden, DJ Hank Korson, Adam Eli, Luca Fersko, Carlotta Kohl, Nathaniel Leshem, Sean Pablo Murphy, Olan Prenatt, Sierra Quitiquit, Dallas Sessoms, Harley Suarez, Lilli Sumner, Yasmeen Wilkerson, Wyatt Winfrey, and other friends of the brand.

Big-Bang-Meca-10-Shepard-Fairey

A Look at Hublot’s Collaboration with Shepard Fairey

Last year, master watchmaker Hublot announced a partnership with renowned street art pioneer and founder of OBEY Clothing Shepard Fairey, before revealing a new watch designed in collaboration with the artist. The resulting watch — the Big Bang Meca-10 Shepard Fairey — is the result of a somewhat unexpected alliance: a luxury watchmaker partnering with a label known for its propaganda-inspired graphics. However, there are similarities in the work of Fairey and the Swiss watch brand that led to such a prestigious timepiece.

Launching in Switzerland in 1980, Hublot quickly gained recognition among the watch industry before being acquired by LVMH in 2007 — a true badge of honor for an entity so committed to the craft. Conversely, OBEY Clothing started as an underground project after Fairey started posting stickers featuring a distorted print of Andre the Giant’s face. Word of mouth buzz helped turn the label into a modern skatewear staple. The pairing of the historic watchmaker and new art influencer is just the latest in the ongoing “Hublot Loves Art” initiative — which has previously featured French artist Richard Orlinski and  Chinese photographer Chen Man — but this is the first time the brand has partnered with a street artist.

This fusion of design approaches — mechanical precision with a street-savvy taste for disruption — is evident in the Big Bang Meca-10 Shepard Fairey. Designed over the course of two years, the new model is the latest part of Hublot’s Big Bang Meca series, which incorporates state of the art technical design savvy with 10-day power reserve. Fairey’s aesthetic is embedded into the design through the placement of a “Star Gear” logo. And for optimum convenience and efficiency, the model is equipped with Hublot’s signature “one-click” mechanism, which enables the watch strap to be changed easily.

“Hublot and Fairey share a disruptive approach to their art, that is consistently first, unique, different,” CEO of Hublot Ricardo Guadalupe said in a statement. “Once again, Hublot teams with the best of the best. For the first time, the street art star gives life to a miniature ‘mural’ on a time object. The ever-creative rebel has transformed our Big Bang Meca-10 into a canvas on which he distills his iconic aesthetic codes.”

As the worlds of luxury and street fashion continue to intersect, Hublot has once again demonstrated its astute cognizance on bigger cultural trends and ability to adapt to the times accordingly. And with an innovative model as striking as the Big Bang Meca-10 Shepard Fairey, it’s clear they’re ahead of the pack.

Zodiac Introduces Mid-Century-Inspired Watches

Swiss watchmaker Zodiac has designed a new collection, dubbed the Grandrally, with pieces inspired by the brand’s own ’60s and ’70s archives.

One of Switzerland’s first premier watchmakers, Zodiac has been constructing one-of-a-kind pieces since 1882. From the start, the watchmaker focused on its country’s rich watch-making tradition while providing a new spin with its innovative products. They were among the first to start off with analog quartz watches, and later the first to launch the electronic Swiss watch in 1968. Today, Zodiac crafts watches focusing on functionality and adaptability for any kind of lifestyle.

The Grandrally resembles the driver chronographs with the heritage sport look including a 2-eye chronograph mixed with Swiss-made quartz. The timepiece is water-resistant up to 10 ATM and comes in 6 different styles with a leather strap option or a sleek stainless steel. With a Zodiac watch strapped to your wrist, you’re always up for a good time.

Hublot Unveils Classic Fusion Chronograph Alongside Berluti

Hublot x BerlutiImage: Hublot x Berluti.

Though Parisian label Berluti has dressed men in the most iconic patinated leathers for over a century, since partnering with watchmaker Hublot in 2016 the house has boasted an entirely outfitted wardrobe, from head to toe to wrist. Revisiting their inaugural joint release, the new watch—the Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti—releases in honor of the French brand’s 120th anniversary, adding a distinctly visual drama to the accessory. Designed by Olga Berluti, a direct descendant of the brand’s founder, the timepiece retains its familiar history with leather tanned to be moisture-free. Available in both all black and scritto king gold, the chronograph touts the customary sapphire crystal construction and anti-reflective treatment, set between embossed indexes of the Hublot logo. Arriving in a bespoke box with a leather care kit to assure the Venezia straps and dial last as long as the Berluti legacy, the piece is as much a technical achievement as it is a timecapsuled marker of history.

The watch comes as part of a new chapter in the brand’s illustrious history, paying tribute to its unforgettable BVLGARI BVLGARI wristwatch collection from the late 70s. The style was originally intended as a holiday gift for the label’s 100 most cherished customers, but the watch proved so popular that the brand launched a full collection in 1977. Hublot Launches New Watch Line with Ferrari

Hublot x FerrariImage: Hublot x Ferrari.

Swiss watchmaker Hublot, who released the popular VanDutch and Pelé designs earlier this year, debuts a new collection with the speed racing Ferrari brand. In celebration of their sixth year of collaboration, the duo releases the limited edition Big Bang Ferrari, inspired by the car brand’s personal design language. The new piece follows the inner workings of a car tachometer and even features the iconic prancing horse logo, with repositioned hour and minute hands to give an innovative, 3D look. A bright red color scheme across the watch and the crown emphasizes the brand’s signature and throws back to the iconic groove at the rear of the LaFerrari model. Evoking characteristics from the TPE (Turbo Performance Engineer) set in the center of the Ferrari dashboard, the crown is fixed to a rotating mode like the pedals on a car. With a 45mm see-through case, the new edition, available limitedly, releases in titanium, king gold, and uni-directional carbon colors. This new design, combining Hublot’s cutting-edge ideas with Ferrari’s speed theories, creates the perfect silhouette and proportions for a high value collection choice.

The Big Bang Ferrari Unico is available now in Hublot boutiques.

Longines Reissues Heritage 1969

Longines Heritage 1969Image: Longines.

Longines knows a thing or two about watches—having been in operation since the 1800s, created aeronautical instruments for the first airplanes, and acted as F1 racing’s official time keeper for 10 years, it’s clear the Swiss company has written itself quite a rap sheet in terms of quality timepieces. Aiming to honor a moment of this illustrious timeline, the brand releases Heritage 1969, a watch that is instantly recognizable as a flower child, gen x baby of the ’60s. Reissued from the original released in its namesake decade, the new addition to the Longines family is elegance updated for the modern man. Brushed with a warm, rose-gold palette, Heritage 1969 features a steel case, silver dial, and 12 pink appliqué indexes that dot the faceplate with a glittering charm. Mimicking its predecessor, the new piece has the date aperture—sitting atop the cushion-shaped casing—positioned at 4:30, a black alligator-skin strap providing contrasting detailing to make the pink features pop with a daring class. Coming a long way from the self-winding ’60s creation that propelled the brand into the following century, Heritage 1969 is a fun, sleek, and instantly recognizable accessory from the energized and polarizing time of moon landings, Woodstock, and colorized television.

TRIWA x Skultuna Collaborate on New Watch

Gucci 4 RoomsImage: Gucci.

What lies beneath every TRIWA watch is the brand’s commitment to displaying time beyond the dial, exploring the concept of timelessness, reflecting classic styles, and looking to the future of watchmaking. Manifesting this theme is TRIWA’s latest collaboration with Swedish fine metal purveyor Skultuna, offering the elegant TRIWA x Skultuna II. The watch boasts a British racing green dial set in a brass case, with a brown, organically-tanned leather strap from Tärnsjö. Powered by Miyota 9015 automatic movement and limited to only 400 models, each watch is numbered in the order in which it was produced. “The watch’s timeless design and raw brass, together with the leather strap from Tärnsjö, makes it a perfect blend of TRIWA and Skultuna,” says Viktor Blomqvist, CEO of Skultuna, one of the oldest brands in the world, having produced brass for over 400 years. Marking the brands’ second collaboration – the previous featuring a similar model in black – the new release bears rich, gentlemanly colors that complement both formal and casual attire, the band and watch face guaranteed to age gracefully.
