Ulysse Nardin Introduces Two Exploration-Inspired Styles

Ulysse Nardin has announced a partnership with Vendée Globe, the world’s most challenging sailing race. They are launching two exclusive watch options inspired by the event, the Diver X Cape Horn and Diver X Nemo Point. Furthermore, the brand announced two new ambassadors: explorer/photographer Sebastian Copeland and freediver Alessia Zecchini.

As Vendée Globe is the ultimate test of nature’s extremes, the Swiss watchmaker took the job of making two durable watch options for precision at the time of the competition. Cape Horn is one of the land points that the sailors must pass near the southernmost tip of Chile and gives its name to one of the watches. There are only 300 pieces available unique for their Un-118 movement that guarantees accuracy. The Nemo Point is another location that sailors must pass with the same precision as Cape Horn but a leash-on-surfboard inspired design.

Ulysse Nardin Diver X Antarctica

Furthering the message, Ulysse Nardin chose Sebastian Copeland and his photography to represent the most unexplored extents of the planet. His imagery communicated the messages of urgent global significance and watch the Diver x Antarctica recalls the last-discovered continent.

Lady Diver

Free-diver and explorer Alessia Zecchini also likes to test the waters and her watch is the Lady Diver that comes in four models. These refined diving watched are incredibly effective while also suitable for a millennial patron with their tasteful and elegant style.

Zodiac Introduces Mid-Century-Inspired Watches

Swiss watchmaker Zodiac has designed a new collection, dubbed the Grandrally, with pieces inspired by the brand’s own ’60s and ’70s archives.

One of Switzerland’s first premier watchmakers, Zodiac has been constructing one-of-a-kind pieces since 1882. From the start, the watchmaker focused on its country’s rich watch-making tradition while providing a new spin with its innovative products. They were among the first to start off with analog quartz watches, and later the first to launch the electronic Swiss watch in 1968. Today, Zodiac crafts watches focusing on functionality and adaptability for any kind of lifestyle.

The Grandrally resembles the driver chronographs with the heritage sport look including a 2-eye chronograph mixed with Swiss-made quartz. The timepiece is water-resistant up to 10 ATM and comes in 6 different styles with a leather strap option or a sleek stainless steel. With a Zodiac watch strapped to your wrist, you’re always up for a good time.

Readability is ensured by the Super-Luminova, and the folding clasp of its rubber watch strap with double push-security allows adjustment and resistance. After passing numerous tests of resistance to impact, magnetic waves, pressure, and temperature changes, the new timepiece showed values of performance, precision, and innovation.

Built to withstand harsh weather and demanding conditions, the new Breitling Avenger Bandit captures the spirit of naval exploration. One of the last independent Swiss watch brands, Breitling was founded in 1884, and has an extensive history of designing instruments for the sky. Must-have watchmaker Movado turns to noted designer Yves Béhar for a technical twist on the Movado Edge watch collection. Working with Béhar’s firm fuseproject, the new release re-sees the watchmaker’s signature 1947 style from industrial designer Nathan George Horwitt in new forms, as classic materials are swapped for foreign textures and an entirely new three-dimensional construction. “It [was] both daunting and an exciting challenge to design for Movado,” says Béhar. “The opportunity to stand out—to stand for something—can be rare in watch design.” From a stainless steel style with a sandblasted black dial and bold neon hands—our personal favorite—to an aqua-washed version with a midnight blue subdial and red and glossy gray hands, the 14-piece collection fuses modern mechanics with innovate style and a depth of texture.

The watch sports bi-directional communication via the MotionX app, which can be paired with any smart device to share and back up data, and includes a limited edition engraved backing: a fiery red “1” that mimics touches of design on the face plate. Unlike others in its field, the watch does not report data to the user in a digital format, but rather it delivers in an analog fashion via the sub-dial, keeping the watch aesthetically consistent among the Swiss watch product line.
