Check Out A Very Burberry Holiday 2019 Campaign

Another cold day, another holiday campaign: this time, Burberry! The British designer just revealed its winter campaign, the first handled by Ricardo Tisci since he was appointed chief creative officer of the brand back in March 2018.

The campaign is as festive as a holiday campaign should be with just a hint of fantasy. Rising models and stars, like Boychild, Lea T, Sasha Pivovarova, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mahmood, and Yoo Ah-In to name a few, star in the campaign shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. In addition to a few holiday party shots, the campaign ventures into whimsical territory by styling one of the models as a satyr. Check out a video from the campaign below.

Givenchy Spring/Summer 2020 Introduces Business Rave

Following a small standalone menswear debut in January, which consisted of posh and understated tailoring, artistic director Claire Waight Keller took this strength even further for her first official men’s runway show in Florence for Givenchy‘s Spring/Summer 2020 collection. The impeccable tailoring she mastered during stints at Calvin Klein and effortless minimalism of Chloe were all evident, with a focus on combining new materials and retro post-internet cues into traditional menswear staples.

Sharp yet relaxed tailoring was the foundation of the collection. And following similar suit-heavy presentations from Louis Vuitton and Dior, it’s safe to say that suits are cool again. Blazers were made double-breasted and often left open to reveal fitted mock-turtleneck cycling shirts that were equal parts sportswear and ’90s raver. This techno theme was further emphasized with slightly reflective fabrics (especially with the range of translucent parkas made from innovative Korean textiles), and baggy cargo trousers accessorized with wallet chains, in addition to other industrial hardware sprinkled throughout. One red fitted shirt featured a black rose graphic print that seemed to be a nod to the gothic imagery that Ricardo Tisci made synonymous with the label during his reign. Another highlight was the reveal of a surprise footwear collaboration with Onitsuka Tiger. It’s clear that Waight Keller isn’t afraid to reference her own legacy, as well as Givenchy’s own heritage, as she continues to leave her mark.

Ricardo Tisci’s First Burberry

After being announced as the label’s new creative officer back in March, Ricardo Tisci finally debuted his vision for Burberry Spring/Summer 19 in London. The resulting collection was a compilation of the designer’s heritage mixed with current trends and tied together by Tisci’s distinct ability to merge the dark with the romantic.

The classic Burberry trench was featured prominently for men and women, with Tisci adding new details (like an extra button strap) to the piece. Men’s suits were kept slim, with different striped prints coexisting peacefully. Other suits were paired with contradicting striped shirts, and one standout was styled with a black sweater over it to create the illusion of a dip-dye. Streetwear influences were also present in the collection, with logomania landing on several looks — the designer opted for a simple graphic print that read ‘BURBERRY’ in a Virgil Abloh-like fashion. Classic Tisci-isms like animal prints and Gothic imagery were seen throughout the presentation, indicating the designer’s perspective, which blessed Givenchy before, will continue to inform his work while retaining the label’s legacy. Take a look at some highlights below.
