Desert Vibes Influence Z Zegna’s SS ’20 Collection

Z Zegna returns to its roots in its Pitti Spring/Summer 2020 presentation using desertification as its cornerstone. Environmental challenges and sustainable responsibility have always been one of the brand’s most important talking points, with the creation of the Oasi Zegna in Biella and the practical and innovative TECHMERINO WASH & GO project. The new collection takes this initiative one step further.

The presentation in Pitti brought a little bit of desert to the fashion week roster while flexing the label’s commitment to sustainability. The collection featured traditional menswear staples (including suits, a take on cargo shorts, and sock sneaker) elevated by new high-performance and upcycled materials and fibers which contrasted the sandy and neutral color palette. All in all, it’s a sophisticated peak performance update to utilitarian excellence — a uniform for the extremes.

Givenchy Announced As Guest Designer at Pitti Imagine

Givenchy, helmed by artistic designer Clare Waight Keller, was announced as the guest designer for this year’s Pitti Immagine Uomo 96, taking place in Florence in June. The French haute couture house will present a new menswear collection, designed by Keller who was previously at Chloé. Known for its Parisian elegance and regal style (the label dressed Meghan Markle for her wedding last year), the designer is expected to showcase its traditional style with a bit of Italian flare that Pitti is known for inspiring.

The Z Zegna Winter ’19 Collection Turns the Casual Extreme

Z Zegna is upgrading its sophisticated tailoring to brave the elements. The new Winter ’19 collection incorporates premium active materials (including its own innovative TECHMERINO material) into contemporary styles in new and unorthodox formats — fitted knit pieces boast thumb holes (for texting, etc) and trousers are reinterpreted in a shiny puffer-jacket fashion. The collection also includes a new sneaker equipped with a breathable sole to ensure optimum movability when battling the extremes. All in all, it’s a street-savvy collection that’s superbly durable. Check out some of the pieces below.

As the 90th edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo approaches, the historic menswear event announces Gosha Rubchinskiy as its guest designer for the Spring/Summer 2017 season. Recently, the subversive Russian voice has become a streetwear mainstay; his eponymous brand gaining global editorial traction with its post-Soviet aesthetic eye and Comme des Garçons retail support. In addition to Rubchinskiy, the three-day series will unveil a designer project by Hiroki Nakamura’s Visvim, special event with Sicilian celebrity designer Fausto Puglisi, and introduction to Lucio Vanotti via Pitti’s emerging program, Pitti Italics. The appointments signal the changing of gears for the long-lasting Italian show, whose traditional roots a Firenze—after previous season partnerships with Moschino, Hood by Air, and Juun.J—continue to find new footing.

Andrea Pompilio Fall 2012 Preview

ANDREA POMPILIO FALL 2012

Andrea Pompilio Fall 2012 Preview

Andrea Pompilio is a name you’ll be hearing a lot  in the near future. He won the Italian Pitti Who’s On Next competition a few seasons ago—and his first time showing—and has continued to present bold and covetable collections that master footwear, outerwear, bags, shirts….ok, everything. When collections come out with so many strong pieces, the competition for your eye can cause the entirety to come off as gauche, too much, the dreaded—”trying too hard”, yet with Pompilio, the looks work as a whole. For Fall 2012, he was inspired by Cheetah, the monkey-star from Tarzan who died earlier this year. The result lands us a sophisticated collection that recalls the playfulness of our past. Cheetah appears on sweatshirts, button ups, bags and Pimpilio makes a certain wink and nod through his headwear. Its still difficult to find Andrea Pompilio outside of Italy. Stateside, Jeffrey New York has some stuff in the brick and mortar store andonline retailer The Corner also has a bunch of stuff.
