Coach Releases A-List “Wonder for All” Holiday 2019 Campaign

For its latest campaign for Holiday 2019, Coach invited an all-star list of talent to its winter shenanigans in New York’s Upper West Side. The “Wonder for All” campaign will also include eight short films written and directed by Bunny Kinney, which will be released throughout the season.

Joining in on the fun is a gaggle of sparkling personalities from supermodels to drag queens to award-winning directors and everything in between, all shot by industry veteran Juergen Teller. Some of the talent includes “Hot Girl Summer” rapper and viral sensation Megan Thee Stallion, Rupaul’s Drag Race winner Bob the Drag Queen, power-couple Tonya and Spike Lee, actor Miles Heizer, actress Yara Shahidi, and supermodel Kate Moss acting as the matriarch of sorts. The campaign also resurrects the American designer’s Horse and Carriage collection seen for the first time since it was launched in the ’50s.

Acclaimed Fashion Photographer Peter Lindbergh has Died

Peter Lindbergh, the internationally esteemed German fashion photographer, died earlier this week on September 3. He was 74 years old.

Lindbergh is known for his work in the ’90s, shooting some of the biggest supermodels of the time, including Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista, and Naomi Campbell — his cover shoot for the January 1990 issue of Vogue is said to be the catalyst for the Age of the Supermodel which dominated the decade. He was known for his candid approach to photography and his strong aversion to retouching. His work will surely continue to echo and influence fashion photography for generations to come.

A Davide Sorrenti Exhibition Opens in the East Village

One of the leading figures associated with the controversial yet undeniably influential ‘heroin chic’ trend of the mid-to-late ’90s, Davide Sorrenti’s untimely death at the age of 21 signified the end of an era. Alongside a new documentary chronicling his life (See Know Evildirected by Charlie Curran), a new exhibition called Our Beutyfull Future at CC Projects in the East Village is showcasing some of the late photographer’s finest work.

In his brief yet prolific career, Sorrenti candidly captured the raw hedonism of the downtown Manhattan circuit with rich images that continue to influence the fashion world 20 years on. Born in Naples in 1976, he started his career in 1994 by photographing his friends around the city, including rising model Jaime King who became a frequent subject of his work. His style was an instant hit for its candor, and his work was quickly published in magazines like i-D, Interview, and Surface and mimicked in Calvin Klein‘s groundbreaking campaign with Kate Moss. His early death is often erroneously cited as the result of a heroin overdose, but Sorrenti had also dealt with a chronic blood disorder for most of his life that ultimately resulted in kidney failure. The exhibition aims to showcase some of his lesser known work and expand upon the narrative on one of the most seminal young photographers of his generation.

Our Beutyfull Future is on display until July 28 at 431 E 6th Street, NY 10009. Check out some of Sorrenti’s work in the gallery above.

Saint Laurent Rive Droite Is Open for Business

When it was announced that the famed Colette boutique in Paris would close at the end of 2017, many fashion fans around the world mourned at the loss of the beloved cult retailer. Soon after, it was announced that Saint Laurent would take over the space and the result — Saint Laurent Rive Droite — opened earlier this month.

Overseen by creative director Anthony Vaccarello, Saint Laurent Rive Droite is a concept store that echoes Collette’s legacy by carrying exclusive merchandise made in collaboration with other influential figures across the design industry. The store will release new products on a weekly basis, but key pieces currently include a vintage boombox, limited-edition Baccarat pieces, a funky zebra-striped car figurine, and a Kate Moss printed silk square. However, the highlights are definitely the branded skateboard and arcade games for the ultimate Saint Laurent votary.

Saint Laurent Rive Droite is open now at 213, rue Saint Honoré 75001 Paris, and extended to the LA store on Rodeo Drive. Check out some pieces from the store in the gallery above.

The Ten Most Iconic Photos from Calvin Klein’s Career

"Inventing David Geffen" New York Premiere

Calvin Klein rose from a young, immigrant’s son in the Bronx of New York to a household name and a legacy in American fashion. In honor of the designer’s birthday today (Happy 71, Mr. Klein!) we pay homage to his long lasting and slightly-controversial career with our ten most favorite and iconic photos from the man who changed runway and retail, for better or worse:

  • Untitled-2
    1. Vogue-Featured B&W Bachelor

For its 1975 November issue, American Vogue highlighted the designer's then newly-finished apartment on New York's Upper East Side. His first marriage had ended a year earlier, and in response, Klein enlisted famous contemporary designer Joseph D’Urso to create a black and white industrious bachelor bad for his new, stylishly-single life.

  • JaniceCalvin
    2. Master of Denim

Although he technically founded cK Calvin Klein Jeans (arguably the first collection of American designer denim) in 1976, it wasn't until 1977—when Klein modified the fit to accentuate both the crotch and buttocks—that his jeans became a must-have fashion item. Here is the designer photographed above with supermodel Janice Dickinson in Vogue Paris of the same year.

  • BrookeSheilds
    3. Supermodel Support

At just 14-years-old Brooke Shields appeared in 1980 in a now-iconic photo campaign and television ad shot by photographer Richard Avedon. In the latter Shields so cooly says, "You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing."

  • CK1982
    4. After The Jean, The Underwear

In 1982 US Olympic pole-vaulter Tom Hintanus starred in the campaign for Klein's first underwear collection for men shot by Bruce Weber. The success of both the brand and the image is still widely acknowledged to this day, with the latter having been named one of American Photographer Magazine's “10 Pictures That Changed America.”

  • MarkMarkKateMoss

    5. Mark and Moss

At the height of the 90's AIDS epidemic, reign of the supermodel, and rule of the jean, Kate Moss starred with Mark Wahlberg—then, still just Marky Mark—in a controversial Calvin Klein campaign titled, “The best protection against AIDS is to keep your Calvins on" shot by Herb Ritts.

  • CKOne
    6. One For All

After finding success with his first two scents, Obsession in 1985 and Eternity in 1988, in 1994 Klein releasef cK One, a citrus aromatic fragrance for both women and men.

  • Fimmel
    7.  Body, Body, Body

In 2001, Australian model and actor Travis Fimmel became the first male in the world to secure a six-figure deal to model exclusively for Calvin Klein for a year. During this time, famed photographed Steven Klein shot Fimmel for a campaign for Calvin Klein body.

    8. Buy For Now

Phillips-Van Heusen, the world's largest shirt company and owner of American brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Izod, purchased Calvin Klein from its founder in 2003, ending Klein's footprint on the American fashion house for at least the time being.

  • Gods Love

    9. Still Keeping Face

Although nominally out of the game, Klein still remained active in both fashion and social circles. Above he is pictured in 2008 with John Demsey, Donna Karan, Anna Wintour and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg at a gala for New York-based charity God's Love We delivery.

    10.  Work Or Play?

In 2010, Klein became romantically linked to model and adult film star Nick Gruber, although the exact details of their relationship has been highly contested in the media by Gruber earlier this year
