Marni & OTB Foundation Launch Glassware Goods for a Cause

Marni has announced a new collaboration with the Italian non-profit OTB Foundation with a special blown glassware collection for the holidays. Made in Colombia, the range of pieces includes glasses, vases, and bottles in an array of translucent colors. At the heart of this collaboration is a philanthropic cause — the project aims to support the organization’s Future Brain initiative dedicated to children hospitalized at the pediatric oncology department of the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome. Resembling children’s stacking toys, the glassware is incredibly detailed and meticulously crafted. Additionally, Marni also plans to promote permanent psychological assistance at the hospital for both patients, their parents, and others in need.

The pieces will be available in Marni stores on November 28.

Louis Vuitton Presents (RED) Candle for AIDS

Louis Vuitton has partnered with (RED) non-profit for the launch of a candle, the profits of which will be directly donated to the Global Fund to fight AIDS.

The organization founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver in 2006 chose the to partner with the brand as the ultimate creative genius. For the product, Louis Vuitton house Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud was asked to create the finest quality scent. The ultimate olfactory piece offers an embrace with sweet peony, pepper, and floral notes. This sensual candle inspires a sense of love, freedom, warmth, and purity.  The final piece was then designed by Marc Newson with a hand-cast, white ceramic flacon and leather handle for portability. The wick and the cover are coated with a vibrate matte red resembling that of (RED).

The Louis Vuitton I (RED) candle will be available on  October 9, at Louis Vuitton stores worldwide and online.

The Upside Calls For Mental Health Awareness

In support of Mental Health Awareness Month, active and swimwear label The Upside has unveiled a social media campaign by supporting the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The images, shot by Zanita Whittington, feature figures (including me) across industries ranging from fashion, fine dining, art, and wellness, and will be posted throughout the month on the Australian brand’s social channels.

“As a long-time supporter of Mental Health Awareness, it is so wonderful to see that these issues are being brought out of the dark,” creative director and founder of The Upside Jodhi Meares said in a statement. “Communication is the universal solvent, making it more acceptable for people to speak up and receive the support they desperately need. The contemporary approach to mental health is now much more holistic in recognizing that a healthy lifestyle is central to keeping a balance between mind, body, and spirit – a fundamental way to assist your wellbeing.”

Self-care has always been at the core of The Upside’s mission since the label launched in 2013. In addition to the social campaign, 25% of proceeds from the signature tank tops will be donated to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Check out the campaign below.

Kiehl’s Launches Collaborative Holiday Charity Collection

Kiehl'sImage: Kiehl’s.

Kiehl’s’ eighth annual holiday collection follows in the footsteps of the brand’s charitable history–past partnerships have included charities such as RxArt, the Koons Family Institute–by teaming again with Feeding America, whom the skincare savant partnered with for its 2014 holiday collection. FAILE, the duo comprised of Brooklyn-based artists Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller, whose variety of paintings, prints, drawings, and installations have shown in museums and galleries worldwide, lend its graphic iconography to the project: Geometric black and gold imagery jazzes up the packaging on Kiehl’s steadfast favorites, including crème de corps, ultra facial cream, and the daily reviving concentrate. Aptly dubbed Baby Give Back, the limited edition compendium will provide up to 1.1 million meals for hungry families, supporting the charity’s mission to tackle hunger across the country. Two different gift sets are available and a canvas tote, adorned with the FAILE logo, is also included amongst the self-care products.

Kiehl’s Baby Give Back compendium is available online now.

What to Wear on World Ocean Day

Water
Image: National Geographic.

When you see a sign that reads “Help the Ocean,” the biggest question that rings in your mind is more than likely how? The alarming degree of marine pollution is no news at this point, and yet, what is to be done at sea is not entirely as crystal clear as, say, with quite some irony, what to be done on land—most ocean pollution begins with us. With such perplexity in mind, the annual World Ocean Day, a United Nations-recognized day to celebrate and take action for the ocean is today, and this year’s theme is “healthy oceans, healthy planet”—simple, straightforward, and absolutely accurate. Whether you are a surfer, swimmer, or even an occasional user of the Boracay’s beautiful white beach wallpaper, here are some wearable and non-wearables ways we can individually sail towards a better and more stylish world.

Kenneth Cole Slip On Sandals That Give Back

With the goal of linking business to philanthropy, designer and activist Kenneth Cole has recently announced the launch of a limited edition sandal collaboration with artisans from Haiti that is tied to the five-year anniversary of the country’s tragic earthquake in 2010. On a recent visit to Haiti, Cole visited Deux Mains’s (“two hands”) workshop, which uses up-cycled tires and locally sourced leathers to make one-of-a-kind handmade sandals. This innovative Haitian social enterprise provides a sustainable income for its employees, giving them the ability to provide themselves with food, medical care, and the means to send their children to school.

Working with Deux Mains shoemakers, Kenneth Cole reveals The Love-Haiti Sandals today to support the community. The sandals come in three different colors—blue, brown, and tan—are crafted from supple goat leather and up-cycled tires, and arrive in a stylish burlap tote with the phrase “We are in a LOVE-HAITI relationship” printed onto it.

“Since shortly after the earthquake five years ago, we have sought to play a role in helping to rebuild Haiti,” said Cole  in a statement. When the disaster first struck, Kenneth Cole Productions immediately responded by launching an in-store shoe drive and shipping thousands of pairs to Haitians who desperately needed them. The company also organized an in-store fundraising program and multiple associate volunteer trips to help rebuild the community. “Although the press and cameras are gone,” added Kenneth, “the needs of the community are not. This sandal collaboration is one more step in our effort to put our foot-wear it makes a difference.”

Now you can be a part of Kenneth Cole’s Haitian community-building initiative by purchasing Love-Haiti Sandals, which are available to pre-order now at online as well as select Kenneth Cole retail stores for $79.

JEFFREY FASHION CARES 2014

Jeffrey Fashion Cares 11th Annual New York Fundraiser

JEFFREY FASHION CARES 2014

Last night, New York’s finest and most fashionable tastemakers joined Anna Wintour, Steven Kolb, Jeffrey Kalinsky, and Roopal Patel in attending the 11th annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares, a fundraiser that benefits The Hetrick-Martin Institute, Lambda Legal, and ACRIA & Point Foundation, hosted by Anna Chlumsky at The 69th Regiment Armory. After a red carpet opening and a wickedly-tempting silent auction (more Proenza and resort packages than should ever be up for grabs), Rob Smith was presented the Jeffrey Fashion Cares Community Leadership Award by Steve Madden. Afterwards, top-models (such as the legendary Chad White) stomped the stage in couture from Givenchy, Christopher Kane, and more. Other attendants included: Jason Wu, Joseph Altuzarra, Dennis Basso, Carole Pope, Thomas Krever, Diane von Furstenberg, Prabal Gurung, Mickey Boardman,  Justin Tarquinio, and of course, us!

7 For All Mankind Doesn’t Want You to Shave

7 For All Mankind x Movember
Friday is the first day of November, and while that might mean an end of Halloween party season for some, it’s also the start of an important campaign for many men around the world.

IMG_0448

For the second year in a row, denim brand 7 For All Mankind is taking part in Movember, a global program that builds awareness and funds for men’s health issues (combatting prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges) by encouraging a shave-free, moustache-adorned month. This year, as official partners in the charity, 7 is kicking things up on a notch.

Available now, in 7 For All Mankind full-price retail stores and select specialty stores in the US and Canada, the brand will offer a special limited-edition Movember jean ($189) to encourage every man—even those that can’t quite grow a mustache themselves—to become walking ambassadors for the rugged look, al naturale. These specialty denim feature the charity’s logo printed on the waistband and pocket lining and a commemoratory moustache printed on the back pocket. On top of that, 7 will donate $20 for every pair of jeans purchased during November (regular and Movember-brand) to the cause.

Finally, with all the time saved without your morning shave, you can enter 7 For All Mankind’s “Get Mo” Instagram contest. Inspired by their November campaign video, 7 gives you the chance to post your best, covered faces for the chance to win a $1,500 7 For All Mankind gift card AND have $1,500 donated to Movember on their behalf. The contest runs from November 6th through November 30th – don’t forget to use the the hashtag #7FAMxMovember.

See you on the other, hairier side.

Want Uber To Deliver Kittens To Your Office? Today They Will

lots-of-kitties-desktop

This is not a test! Car service Uber has quietly been making their way up the legitimacy circuit (seconded only to the pop music circuit), partnering with noteworthy brands and offering promo codes for free rides around the city. And now today, National Cat Day if you weren’t in the know (tsk, tsk), they’re teaming up with popular meme site Cheezburger, converting their on-demand car service into an on-demand kitten service. Obviously. Lucky residents of New York City, San Fran, and Seattle will be able to order fifteen-minute play sessions with a kitten for a reasonable $20. Uber users can log onto the App to reserve their kitten play time with the entire $20 being donated to a local animal shelter. Separation issues? Been there. So has Uber. Therefore, the kittens are completely yours to adopt should you fall in lurve fast, and if that didn’t incentivize you enough, they come with Ace of Cake cupcakes (cupcakes!) and an “Uberrific Cat Pack” (the contents of which, who knows, who cares!). This begins at 11AM today and lasts until 4PM. Book now!!
