Start the Year off Right with Wardrobe Essentials from Canali

While this year dwindles down to a close, a new one lurks right around the corner. Perfect time for reflection and planning, why not also consider changing up your wardrobe? Luxury Italian brand Canali offers a selection of classic menswear pieces that will surely stand the test of time for years to come, and serve as the perfect building blocks for upgrading any man’s closet. We chose a list of highlights that are essential for amplifying your style game. Take a look.

1. Light Blue Cotton Twill Dress Shirt

705-Q60135-41_d_0ZOOM

Let’s start with the classic blue button-down. It’s one of the easiest staple pieces to dress up or down and has served me well for many job interviews. The Italian collar adds a slightly exaggerated detail to the traditional shirt, and the light fabric allows it to breathe with the body.

$295, available at Canali and online.

2. Black Leather Sneakers with Prince of Wales Check

These black leather sneakers are both durable and incredibly versatile. This pair is fitted with leather inserts adding sophistication to the urban classic, and the engrained Prince of Wales check on the shoe’s exterior provides new texture to the shoe, transforming it into a new luxury statement.

$455, available at Canali and online.

3. Dark Wash 5-Pocket Denim Jeans

A good pair of jeans is an absolute necessity for any person. While we witness several denim fads over the course of any fashion cycle, the general look of the jean is timeless. This pair of dark wash jeans (less retro than a lighter wash) come in a straight fit, providing an optimum fit for any body type. Perfect.

$450 available at Canali and online.

4. Dark Gray Wool Siena Suit

I’ve noticed that people either wear suits everyday or only on special occasions – there’s no real middle ground. Regardless, a dark gray suit (less formal than a black suit) is as essential in a man’s style arsenal as socks and underwear. This wool suit has a sleek and classic silhouette, allowing the wearer to seamlessly glide from day into night.

$1505, available at Canali and online.

5. Blue Super 150s Waterproof Jacket

Global warming means more extreme weather, therefore more rain. Be prepared with this light and water-resistant coat — the shape of the dark blue coat is stylishly utilitarian. It also comes with a bunch of pockets to protect your goods from the downpour. Form meets function meets fashion.

$837, available at Canali and online.

6. Charcoal Gray Cashmere Crew Neck Sweater

Perfect for layering, this gray cashmere sweater is fitted slim to avoid any unflattering bunch-up. Made with 18-gauge pure cashmere, this piece instantly elevates any look with contemporary sophistication.

$850, available at Canali and online.

7. Green Cotton Jersey Polo

T0400-MJ00424-800_a_ZOOM

This breezy cotton-jersey polo features a micro-check-motif that shows movement, while the contrasting collar really pulls the look together, giving it a subtle panache. Dress it up by pairing it with a sweater (see above) or simply wearing it by itself on warmer days.

$227.50, available at Canali and online.

Weekly Instagram Roundup: Issey Miyake, Drake, and more

This week’s complete social snapshot, distilled for your pleasure.

From the hottest celebrity parties to the regretful morning-after shots, ESSENTIAL HOMME‘s Weekly Instagram Roundup brings all of the hottest designer, model, and trendsetting pics from the week directly to you. After all, no one has time to scroll through anything but the best.

Issey Miyake

Issey Miyake revealed images from its upcoming Shunga collection, first seen in ESSENTIAL HOMME October/November 2016, that features the brand’s erotic portrayal of sexuality and design through the use of textiles and silhouettes, honoring one of Japan’s time-honored artistic movements.

Drake

Drake, the champagnepapi himself, challenged Taylor Swift’s previous Apple Music ad with one of his own, rocking out to “Bad Blood” while hitting the gym hard. Could this be the start of the next great Apple collab following the brand’s recent work with the iconic Paul Smith?

Cadet

Trevor Signorino certainly has had a busy week. Pictured here trying out Cadet‘s new Spring/Summer 2017 collection—the roman legion-inspired hardened collection—the it-model also jet-set to open the new Palazzo Versace hotel in Dubai on the arm of Donatella herself.

Bruce Pask

Bergdorf Goodman‘s Men’s Fashion Director Bruce Pask shared a sneak peek into the retailer’s upcoming holiday pop-up shop with these resin craft pieces, hand selected by Paul Smith himself. The beaded beauties interestingly feature the same wild color palette as the designer’s latest Spring/Summer 2017 collection.

Canali 1934

Don’t settle for anything less than magical when it comes to your accessories this season. Canali‘s latest campaign film, teased on Instagram this week, is an enchanting look at the brand’s upcoming pieces, which would appear to pair perfectly with its latest headphones release.

Wilhelmina Models

The premier modeling service Wilhelmina offered congrats to Francisco Lachowski for the birth of his new son, Laslo—his new job as dad a far cry from his devious motorcycling days in this year’s H&M Summer 2016 campaign or his dark, smoldering role in Balmain’s Spring/Summer 2016 campaign.

An exercise in balance, the mood of Canali‘s Autumn/Winter 2016 runway collection is of intelligent complication. Inspired by the architecture of both Noémie Goudal and Oliver Michaels, along with the fortuitous temporariness of rock formations, the resulting assortment is effortlessly agile.

Preview Canali Spring/Summer 2016

Video: Canali.

The first few early sights of Canali’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection—as hinted in the Italian brand’s new mood video above—are clear signs of the house’s continued dedication to create not only pieces of clothing, but also a works of art. Extracting the magical beauty of a kaleidoscope as a source of inspiration, Canali’s creative consultant, Andrea Pompilio, seeks to render the ultimate Canali man, “suspended in the timeless atmosphere of an everlasting Mediterranean Summer.” The chromatic collage transforms that which enchanted Pompilio’s mind, with the new collection working to mold a spectrum of colors that each progress into another kind—blues transform from sky to aquamarine, mix with warm earth tones of ochre, caramel, and burgundy, and are illuminated by flashes of deep sea greens. These transformative hues will then be imprinted onto fabrics that are equally nimble and destructured, as Pompilio once again refuses to conform to traditions. Like a sudden summer storm, the new season of Canali is all about the changing ethereal. Get ready.

Canali Takes On Gamer and Media Mogul Riccardo Zacconi in latest ‘200 Steps’ Video

Video: Canali.

Perhaps a source of frustration for those jerking their phones on the morning subway commute, Riccardo Zacconi, founder of the popular mobile saga Candy Crush, is the latest man of inspiration for Italian brand Canali in the latest video for its ‘200 Steps’ series. “I love games because in addition to entertaining and offering an escape from reality, I am able to bring people together across generations, cultures and countries,” says the 40-year-old native of Rome and media mogul who shares his surreal reality of gaming, along with personal five key-thoughts that drive him to success. Like the fashion brand, Zacconi too journeys on the eccentric side of the life: floating from a cloudy horizon to a candy-coated floor.
