Earlier this month, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim announced they would step down as creative directors for Kenzo following the Spring/Summer 2020 show to focus on running Opening Ceremony. The final collection was a toned down amalgamation of all the things that makes the Japanese/French label pop: rich color hues, an abundance of prints, and an athletic sensibility that keeps the brand fresh. This time around, a beachy color palette (lots of deep blues and glimpses of coral orange) was inspired by the designer’s West Coast upbringing. In celebration of Leon and Lim’s impact on Kenzo, Solange provided the soundtrack the show, treating guests to an intimate performance and a mighty farewell.
For summer, KITH is releasing an expansive 50-piece collection that upgrades some of its classics with performance materials and crazy tile print patterns.
Core pieces from the New York label — think simple branded graphic t-shirts, joggers, caps, and bucket hats — are revised for the season, with a blue tie-dye print shirt giving that gives the classic logo tee new flair. The collection also introduces the label’s new Crystal Wash technique that ensures each shirt is super soft by altering the highs and lows of the cotton. But the key standout is a range of all-over tile-like graphic prints (equally Moroccan Zellige and 70s bohemian) that encompass two shirt and short combos. Footwear included new styles from the brand’s ongoing collaboration with Adidas Originals. As striking as the gear is, the materials used — mainly satin, seersucker, and jersey — ensures that these pieces are to be lived in as well as looked at, whether you’re cruising the boardwalk or hitting the waves.
The KITH Summer ’19 collection will be available in stores and online tomorrow. Check out some pictures from the campaign below.
Happy summer! Kim Jones has just created a new beachwear capsule for Dior. Following the eponymous Summer ’19 collection, the label’s artistic director continues to add his spin to a limited range of goods fit for the beach. A robotic theme continues to show up in the new capsule, with mechanical swordfish and mermaids graphics by Japanese artist and ongoing collaborator Hajime Sorayama adorning some of the pieces complementing a subtle take on Hawaiian floral prints. Most pieces, including a windbreaker-like jacket, t-shirts, swim shorts, and classic Bermuda shorts, are given a relaxed casual fit for lounging by the water.
The Dior beach collection is available exclusively online now. Check out some of the pieces in the slideshow above.
Marrakech and major ’70s influences continue to inform the majority of Anthony Vaccarello‘s collections at Saint Laurent since he took over the French label in 2016. For Spring 2020, in a beachside show set in Malibu which was attended by recent brand ambassador Keanu Reeves and our fall ’18 cover star Lakeith Stanfield, the show was a fitting mix of stage glam with coastal nonchalance.
The collection was a love letter to the Rolling Stones beguiling frontman Mick Jagger — particularly the band’s prolific theatrical Tour of the Americas ’75 which featured a dragon that breathed confetti and a giant inflatable penis in addition to the performer’s regular flamboyance. The iconic singer’s influence was interpreted quite literally at times, with glittery suits, velvet trousers, button-down shirts left billowy and open, and a general sense of glam rock androgyny that has become a dependable strength and staple to the label. But there was an overall sense of insouciance that was more post-show than stagewear. A lot of this seemed to be a result of the designer’s signature skin-tight tailoring being dilated just a little bit and a range of exaggerated harem-like pants that closed out the presentation.
Summer is lurking right around the corner and if you haven’t kept true to your #fitnessgoal oriented New Year’s resolution, don’t panic. After a bit of browsing on Pinterest, we’ve rounded up a few of the best 30-day fitness challenges to help get you back on track for the summer. Read on.
For abs:
So this simple month-long ab boot camp is intense — by the end of it, you’ll be doing 155 crunches and day. But what makes this one (courtesy of fitness author Neila Rey) extra thorough is that it offers a variety of 3 exercises so that you end up with true core strength and (ideally) visible definition by the end of it. Here’s another one that instead mixes planks, knee crunches, and mountain climbers. Start with one of these and you’ll abs-solutley (sorry) be ready to take your shirt off.
For pecs:
This push-up challenge by Juan Lugo Fitness focuses on building strength and endurance. While push-ups are a great workout for the whole body, the exercise really targets the chest. It’s more of a slow burner, but you’ll be able to test your stamina and monitor your development over the course of 30 days and essentially complete 50 push-ups in one go when you’re done.
For glutes:
Courtesy of Livestrong, this squat intensive is sure to sculpt your glutes into the stuff of Roman statues. With squats, it’s all about form (don’t let your knees bend past your toes, keep your back straight, etc) so when tackling over 50 a day, keep that in mind. This challenge is definitely a marathon and not a sprint. And if you’re feeling really ambitious, here’s a challenge that mixes abs and glute exercises. Good luck out there.
Get ready for beach weather with Berluti‘s new Beach Capsule Collection. Since joining the French label, former artistic director of Dior Homme Kris Van Assche is expanding the designer’s presence on fun seaside amenities including inflatable donuts, lounge chairs, paddles, towels, and more in festive neon hues, a departure from Van Assche’s dark design style. It’s a pop-goth collection of beach goods that looks like what a Tim Burton movie would look like in Miami.
The Berluti Beach Capsule collection is available online now.

If there’s one stereotype we can get behind, it’s that Australians do beachside leisure better than we’ll ever be able to comprehend. Don’t believe it? Here’s how Sydney spent Christmas last year. This was New York. Exactly. So it comes to new surprise that as the temperatures begin to rise and the layers begin to fall—like the last teetering inch before the drop on a roller coaster’s arch—our attention inches toward Sydney-based swim trunk designers Venroy for summer outfitting. The pair that has us most excited? A limited-edition printed collaboration trunk with Ron Herman, paying homage to the West Coast designer flagship store in Melrose, California. Retailing at $250, the board shorts are part of a 20-piece collection exclusively sold at the store and feature micro fibre polyester (with a water repellant coating), ink binding fabric to prevent fade or chemical damage, and a drawstring with branded hardware strings.

British designer Adam Brown made Orlebar Brown‘s first mark with well-proportioned beachwear—above the knee bulldog-print swim trunks and tight-fitting made for Monaco graphic tees—but it’s his newest collaboration with London tattoo artist Saira Hunjan that is causing quite a stir. Using two OB mid-length shorts as a canvas (goddess white and jellyfish sky), the designer incorporated Hunjan’s unique stenciling as embroidered artwork that comes to live across each trunk. See the promotional video above and shop both looks on Orlebar Brown’s website now!
