The UK’s Biggest Menswear Exhibition is Coming This Fall

The biggest menswear exhibition to ever hit the UK is coming this fall. The Westminster Menswear Archive is hosting Invisible Men, a four-week-long exhibition at the University of Westminster (where Vivienne Westwood went) dedicated to — you guessed it — menswear. The retrospective will chronicle 120 years of menswear and include over 170 key garments that influenced the industry.

“Invisible Men will illustrate how designers have disrupted these conventions through minimal, yet significant modifications to produce outcomes that both replicate and subvert their source material,” reads the Menswear Archive website. “Through this approach, the language of menswear has developed an almost fetishistic appreciation of the working man in all his heroic iterations, referencing the clothing of seafarers, soldiers, athletes, firefighters, road workers, and explorers.”

Menswear has never been more mainstream than now, so a retrospective exploring the history of it seems right on schedule. Invisible Men will open in October.

Yohji Yamamoto Adds His Signature to an Adidas Classic

Since Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto joint forces to launch Y-3 back in 2003, the super-label has consistently delivered cutting-edge looks at the apex of performance and style. The latest sneaker, an updated version of Adidas’ popular Salvation model, continues to honor this creative relationship with two styles available in black and white. The new Y-3 FYW S-97 shoe is embedded with premium Feet You Wear technology — an innovative development made to mimic the foot’s natural movement, this feature was popular in the late ’90s before making a comeback last year — as well as BOOST cushioning. To top it off, the sneaker’s exterior features a branded embroidered signature from Yamamoto’s label to truly honor the collaborative effort that’s been going strong for over a decade.

Concept 003: printings.jp Brings Iconic Menswear to Nordstrom

The third rollout of Nordstrom Men’s Concept series reintroduces seminal pieces from the archives of Raf Simons and Helmut Lang. Devised by VP of Men’s Fashion Sam Lobban, the Concept initiative was designed to highlight the best menswear finds from across the world, with the first edition launching back in January. The latest, Concept 003: printings.jp, was organized in partnership with Japanese publisher printings.jp, who also created a tw0-volume book set chronicling each designer’s influence

Of course, then there’s the clothes. Some highlight resurrected pieces from Simons include a David Bowie tank top, a black printed fishtail parka, and a faded camouflage bomber. From Lang, there’s an orange leather jacket and a military-inspired utility vest, which has emerged as one of the years’ biggest trends. Better shop the collection now before it ends up on Grailed.

Concept 003: printings.jp will be open in the Nordstrom Men’s stores in New York, Downtown Seattle, Vancouver, and online until May 30th.

Kenzo’s La Collection Memento Nº4 is Pure Pop

For the fourth iteration of its Collection series (which dips into the archives and recreates classic pieces for today), Kenzo cast Parisian artists to celebrate the label’s heritage and relationship to the culture of the city. Kenzo – La Collection Memento N°4 revisits its most vibrant and electrifying prints (think tiger graphics, leopard print, and hyper-realistic tomatoes) in a cheeky nod to its tongue-in-cheek style, with a simple yet lively campaign shot by Campbell Addy that features the creative models posing with giant tomatoes and shopping baskets. For its show in Paris, Kenzo worked with choreographers Paul Sadot and Nqobilé Danseur to create an energetic presentation that featured dancers flaunting the retro-fantastic collection. Additionally, the pieces were made available directly after the show — now that’s something to celebrate!

Kenzo – La Collection Memento N°4 is available online now.
