Jonah Hill Directed the Latest Adidas Video Campaign

For its latest campaign, Adidas tapped actor Jonah Hill to direct and star in a new video. He’s in good company — in the new campaign, titled “Change is a Team Sport,” Hill stars alongside Pharrell, Yara Shahidi, Blondey McCoy, and Jenn Soto. The visual is the first part of an ongoing brand initiative that will showcase new disruptors and rising stars across industries. In the video, Soto sports a pair of the brand’s Superstar sneakers as she maneuvers through the best first-day-of-school ever, all the while Hill shares words of encouragement over the intercom. Avoiding the general crippling awkwardness of the high school experience, the whole thing is pretty wholesome.

The Last Adidas x Alexander Wang Collection has Arrived

After a string of health goth-friendly inspired collaborations, Adidas and Alexander Wang have released Season 6, their sixth and final collection. The latest range continues the distinct urban style that the two brands managed to perfect over the last few seasons, but this time with a more cyber-rave approach — a combination of cult film Hackers and the disco vibes of ‘Club Leisure.’ The performance wear, which includes a sneaker, two duffle bags, a puffer jacket, and puffy overalls, are all printed with various graphics to further emphasize this fantasy of hackers at a club. To launch the collection, details to the release party were sent via AirDrop and those lucky enough to attend had the opportunity to get free pieces from the Seasons 1-5.

The Adidas x Alexander Wang Season 6 collection is available in select stores and online now.

The Prada & Adidas Collab is Finally Here

Earlier this month, Prada and Adidas (Pradidas, if you will) teased an upcoming collaboration on Instagram and sent the internet into a minor frenzy. Little was said about the union of these two powerhouse brands, but additional reports said that the capsule would include two drops with the first happening in December.

With December only a week away, the Prada for Adidas Limited Edition range has finally been revealed. For the first drop, the brands designed a bowling bag and updated version of the Superstar shoe in a clean monochromatic leather palette — subtle yet still absolutely prominent Prada branding decorates the exterior of the classic sneaker style and bag. The pieces will be made in the designer’s native Italy (a fact emphasized with a repeating ‘Made in Italy’ motif that’s printed alongside both label’s respective logos) in an extremely limited batch of 700 pieces.

The Prada x Adidas collection will be available on December 4. Happy hunting!

Stella McCartney Stan Smiths

Stella McCartney x Adidas Launch Vegan Stan Smiths

The latest in an ongoing collaboration with Adidas, British designer Stella McCartney is launching a second iteration of its class Stan Smith sneakers for its Spring 2020 campaign. As McCartney continues to pivot towards sustainability, the shoe is entirely vegan —  leather-free, cruelty-free, and entirely biodegradable. Paying homage to both namesake designers, the unisex footwear features Stan Smith’s face on the tongue of the right shoe with McCartney’s face on the tongue of the left shoe. The laces are replaced for a whimsical rainbow palette in addition to a gradient palette that shows through the classic three-stripe pattern — these playful colorways are inspired by the designer’s Spring 2020 ready-to-wear collection shown in Paris during Fashion Week.

What Exactly Are Adidas and Prada Up to?

In an industry that’s polluted with collabs — the likes of many which are covered right here on Essential Homme — anything is possible. Supreme can get with Baccarat. Nike can get with Carhartt WIP. Virgil Abloh can add quotation marks to an entire line of IKEA furniture. The list goes on. It takes a bit more effort these days to do anything truly shocking in terms of collabs, which is why it’s interesting that a minor internet frenzy was caused yesterday after Adidas and Prada teased and announced their partnership on both their respective Instagrams.

After each brand posted the same image — a Prada shopping bag filled with two Adidas shoeboxes — the hype was only fueled by fan speculation. But despite the cloak of mystery (however mysterious something can be once it’s posted to a combined audience of 46 million), people were quickly able to determine that the forthcoming release was likely a pair of shoes — the shoeboxes in the aforementioned image seem to confirm this. Additionally, WWD confirmed that Prada and Adidas will release two styles in December with plans for a second drop in early 2020. So if you’re not able to secure a pair of coveted Pradidas shoes (see what I did there?) for Christmas, you might be able to use some holiday money to buy them in the new year.

Discover Adidas Skateboarding X Alltimers Capsule

Adidas Skateboarding and Alltimers have come together to create a seven-piece capsule that is sure to get you in the mood to set off exploring. Based on the mutual love for adventure the Discovery collection is “inspired by people that were finding shit for the last 100 years.” It is a true treasure in of itself.

The capsule includes revamped versions of the iconic ZX 4000s and Gazelle Super sneakers.  The two styles take a remake down the nostalgia-lane with a new vintage facade accented with subtle Adidas and Alltimers branding. As well as the signature sneakers, the two brands created four ready-to-wear items and one fanny pack as the perfect additions to the explorer’s collection. The garments within the capsule include a windbreaker with matching shorts that come in bright royal blue, black, and white colorways as well as a T-shirt and crew-neck that feature a spiritual bird graphic. The entire look is tied together with a fanny pack in royal blue color-blocked with green and beige.

The pieces range from $30 – $160 USD and will be available on Alltimers and Adidas Skateboarding online stores August 3rd.

Saks Wants You to Get Lost in its Shoe Heaven

Shoe shopping just got a lot easier. Launching earlier this week, Saks unveiled an expansive floor dedicated entirely to footwear that carries over 160 designers. The new 8000-square-foot space is a 60% increase in dedicated footwear space and is planned to be a shoe megacenter of sorts. In addition to carrying more shoes than you can wave a stick at, the store will organize and host special events, workshops, trunk shows, and other activations to build a community for shoppers. Some of the brands carried in the space include Dior, Celine, Balenciaga, Gucci, and Saint Laurent, so if you’re into fashion with a capital ‘F,’ you’re all set. Additionally, the store also carries Puma, Off-White, New Balance, Timberland, and Adidas for hypebeasts and athletes. With a whole floor of footwear, shopping for shoes might just be something to look forward to.

Saks’ new shoe floor is open now.

A Look at the KITH Summer ’19 Collection

For summer, KITH is releasing an expansive 50-piece collection that upgrades some of its classics with performance materials and crazy tile print patterns.

Core pieces from the New York label — think simple branded graphic t-shirts, joggers, caps, and bucket hats — are revised for the season, with a blue tie-dye print shirt giving that gives the classic logo tee new flair. The collection also introduces the label’s new Crystal Wash technique that ensures each shirt is super soft by altering the highs and lows of the cotton. But the key standout is a range of all-over tile-like graphic prints (equally Moroccan Zellige and 70s bohemian) that encompass two shirt and short combos. Footwear included new styles from the brand’s ongoing collaboration with Adidas Originals. As striking as the gear is, the materials used — mainly satin, seersucker, and jersey — ensures that these pieces are to be lived in as well as looked at, whether you’re cruising the boardwalk or hitting the waves.

The KITH Summer ’19 collection will be available in stores and online tomorrow. Check out some pictures from the campaign below.
