Meltdown Monday! Gaga, Perez, Freaking Out and Crazy in the Wide Open
First, Lady Gaga’s just-released music video for Applause:
Alright, let’s back-step to Friday, when Gaga tweeted: “Still have the text Perez [Hilton] sent me of me in a wheelchair with the words KARMA written across + Madonna pointing a gun at me”.
Sunday:
The real battle began at 12:26PM. The weather outside was perfectly temperate until a shitstorm made landfall when someone reached out to Lady Gaga — via twitter, no less — informing her that Perez Hilton was at her apartment building. She responded less than a half hour later asking if this was true. She continued, “is he still there now? i need you to take a photograph please this is very very serious. and not a funny joke if it is one”. Minutes later, she sent security to the building (she is in LA promoting) and that’s when the crazy really began to air out.
Exactly one hour after it all begin, this: “@perezhilton STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!” Oh, and she wasn’t done: “DO I NEED TO BE SHOT IT IN THE HEAD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT HIM AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT HARASSES ME HAS GONE TOO FAR? IM A HUMAN BEING”. It was far from over: “I just want to make music+make people smile. Im sorry to all the fans who are trying to enjoy whats suppose to be a happy time. Gone too far”.
This prompted Hilton’s rebuttal statement, made on his website: “Sunday, my realtor showed us a list of possible apartments to rent. I learned only after the fact that Lady GaGa lives in one of the buildings we looked at, and she was across the country in Los Angeles when I viewed that building. After a day of innocent house-hunting, I am devastated and my heart hurts that my former very good friend, a person I used to call my “wife-y” and traveled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter. While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a “stalker”. Any allegation that I am stalking her, based on a day of house hunting with my baby boy and my mother, is utterly false, defamatory and now appears to be putting me and my family in danger. I will continue to be a critic – in a way that is not mean or involves name-calling, and I will continue to have an opinion and talk about music and songs, like GaGa’s Applause. I hope her fans stop sending me death threats, as the suggestion that I pose a danger to Lady GaGa is preposterous. If her fans want to send a message of support to Lady GaGa, they should buy her music. Notwithstanding my feelings about our personal relationship, I do wish Lady GaGa happiness and continued success and I assure you my family house hunting has nothing to do with her.”
Gaga was not impressed: “@PEREZHILTON YOU ARE A LIAR I KEPT EVERY PSYCHOTIC TEXT U SENT TO MY PHONE. I NEVER RESPONDED+NOW YOU’VE STALKED MY HOME. BOY WHO CRIED WOLF”
This prompted a response from Hilton, stating that the only boy in question is his son, who Gaga’s vocally loyal fans had begun to attack on twitter. Hilton then went on to accuse her of inciting the entire “feud” to gain promotion for her new single Applause, a song Hilton has been on the offensive about since its release with headlines like Why Katy Perry’s Roar Is A Greater Song Than Lady GaGa’s Applause!.
Gaga responded telling Hilton she would not be quiet, that she had long been silenced, and that she would not handle the matter privately. Not missing a beat, Hilton continued the volley, even adding a #cruel to the equation (cause, at this point, why not?), stating that he’s “still healing” and “removing [her] knife from [his] heart”. He then accused her of trying to sabotage other artists’ careers and, most boldly, accused her of being a drug addict. The batshit coocoo-ery has simmered for now with Hilton dramatically declaring that the truth will eventually come out.
Ball currently sits in Gaga’s court.
