G-Star Raw x Vitra Collection Revives Jean Prouvé Furniture Designs

Fashion brand G-Star RAW partners with Swiss furniture company Vitra for a limited-edition office collection that revives a selection of Jean Prouvé’s original 1940 designs for today’s 2015 modern offices in a ten-piece series, Prouvé RAW Office Edition Collection. Prouvé, the late French self-taught architect and designer, became famous for using manufacturing technology in architecture without losing the industrial aesthetic. With the support of the creative’s family, the new partnership updates his furnishings to meet the demands of today’s major French industrial companies. “I am convinced that my father would have very much appreciated this reinterpretation of his designs and the way this collaboration brings the collection back to its roots in the office,” says Prouvé’s daughter Catherine. “I like the fact that this edition honors my father’s original design, while complementing it with contemporary details.” The furniture series includes tables, chairs, and cabinets made of steel and solid wood. Featuring leather and heavy-duty fabric upholstery materials in industrial shades of green, all the details pay tribute to the pieces’ original use and environments.
