Supreme is Coming to San Francisco

The beloved New York skate brand is expanding on the West Coast with the opening of its first store in San Francisco. Supreme teased the news on Instagram over the weekend, by posting video footage and photos of the city’s skate scene. The brand also posted a registration link on its site, inviting guests to sign up for a place in line for the launch of its next retail experience. (The list is now closed.)

No further information about the store’s opening is available as of now, but Bay Area residents should be hyped for the opening of Supreme’s 12th store in the world.

The Palace Winter ’19 Collection is a Graphic Explosion

Color and prints dominate Palace’s upcoming Winter 2019 collection, which was revealed on Instagram yesterday. The UK-based skate brand, known for its playful and dynamic street apparel, really went into overdrive with an expansive visual-heavy range with a number of graphic embellishments ranging from editorial prints to retro-style cartoons.

A grey t-shirt bearing a National Enquirer tabloid-inspired graphic is a clear highlight, while a similar newspaper-like pattern is a more subdued interpretation of the periodical theme. A primary-color blocked coat, an all-over logo print fleece, and oversized knit hooded sweater all are perfect options for statement outerwear, while a silver lamé football jersey and selection of reflective camouflage pants are a nod to Y2K aesthetics. Additionally, tamer options are available — a pair of classic flannel shirts are best suited as layering pieces to anchor some of the flashier looks.

The Palace Winter ’19 collection launches in select stores and online on October 4.

After 25 Years, Supreme has Left Lafayette Street

Long a staple of Lafayette Street since it opened up 25 years ago, Supreme has quietly left its original flagship location. The New York skate brand announced in February that it would temporarily relocate to a spot on Bowery while its original flagship was renovated, but fans of the brand posted pictures on social media showing that its former location in SoHo is currently available for lease — unconfirmed reports claim that the Lafayette monthly rent is $70 thousand a month. Supreme later confirmed that the Bowery location will now serve as the main flagship. There goes the neighborhood.

Supreme is open now at 190 Bowery.

supreme the velvet underground

The Velvet Underground is Supreme’s Latest Muse

After announcing a capsule inspired by Morrissey, Supreme has shifted its focus to a new seminal indie rock presence. For the Fall 2019 collection, the New York-based skate brand is releasing a line inspired by The Velvet Underground. Formed in 1964 in downtown Manhattan, the band’s groundbreaking combination of rock and avant-garde earned initial praise from Andy Warhol, who later acted as their manager. Now they’re frequently praised as one of the most influential groups of the century.

The upcoming fall collection features original artwork, including photos and other designs, from the band across a collection of ringer tees and button-downs. For a brand as deeply engrained in New York culture as Supreme, it’s a wonder why these two downtown institutions didn’t meet sooner.

The Supreme x The Velvet Underground collection launches online on Thursday, September 19.

Only NY Opens New Store in Greenpoint

Long a favorite of the city’s massive skater population, Only NY has opened its second New York store in Brooklyn. Located in Greenpoint, the new outpost is aiming to be more than just your run-of-the-mill skate shop — the store wants to emerge as a cultural hub for the skate scene by hosting various events and workshops and carrying exclusive merch. The open layout of the store, which is flooded with natural light thanks to a series of floor-to-ceiling windows, is kept simple. The brand’s signature tees are displayed on racks that line the walls while hats and other accessories are displayed on a table in the center. Air ducts are left exposed, and various paintings mounted on the wall and a natural brick accent wall adds to the store’s neighborhood charm.

Only NY is open now at 49 Franklin Street, NY 11222.

The New Converse x Golf le Fleur* Shoes Have Colored Foxing

After releasing his first Billboard No. 1 album and a massively successful collection with Lacoste, Tyler, the Creator is back again with a new mini-capsule with Converse. The new Colorblock range uses his signature all-white Golf le Fleur* sneaker (complete with a flower logo detail) and enhances the clean style with a color-taping accent available in red and green. Earlier this summer Tyler released a Pride inspired shoe with Converse which featured a rainbow accent on the taping, so this is more of a stripped-back yet bold look that Golf le Fleur* has become known for.

The Converse x Golf le Fleur* Colorblock collection will be out on August 3rd at Converse and GolfWang.com.

HUF x Mark Bodé Collaborate for Capsule Collection

American skate brand HUF and American artist Mark Bodé have teamed to honor the Bodé family legacy in a graphic capsule collection. The late legendary artist Vaughn Bodé is known for influencing street art movements and pioneering underground comics, and this inspiration is clearly evident in the pieces.

Mark wants to carry on the family legacy by using classic Bodé characters in the garments. The collection includes a range of jackets, fleece, tees, hats, socks, and accessories, all incorporating the bright comic book aesthetic with vivid colors and funky illustrations. On top of the capsule, Bodé has created 12 limited-edition Painter’s Jackets, each replete with the artist’s signature work.

The HUF x Mark Bodé collection drops on June 20th at select stores and online. Check out some pieces from the collection above.

Stüssy’s Summer ’19 Collection is Heavy on Tie-Dye

For summer, Stüssy is releasing a bright and tropical collection that pays homage to its rich California heritage. The range of shirts, jackets, shorts, and button downs are perfectly fit for the sun, with pieces in a variety of light colorways elevating the gear to take any regular fit to the next level. Some of the more monochromatic pieces are enhanced by graphic prints of palm trees and logo branding, making them perfect for mixing and matching, and the collection also includes some suits and trousers for a more sophisticated look, if you’re into that. In addition to embracing pastels, tie-dye prints elevate the collection with retro fervor that wouldn’t look out of place in mid90s.

The Stüssy Summer ’19 collection will be available in select stores and online tomorrow. Check out some of the looks below.

Supreme’s Porcelain Cupid Figurine Will Steal Hearts

One of the buzziest pieces from the upcoming Supreme S/S 19 collection (dropping tomorrow) is a ceramic figurine. Designed in collaboration with European porcelain manufacturer Meissen, the fragile piece seems to be the latest novelty collector’s item from the legacy skate brand. To further fuel the hype around the latest drop, the brand shared a video that showed exactly how the statue is made, from preparing the material itself to hand-painting the ornament. The new decorative statue in correction depicts Cupid wearing a Supreme t-shirt (!!!) and piercing an arrow through a heart, possibly a metaphor for how the New York-brand continues to woo a generation of skaters, streetwear enthusiasts, fashion insiders, and all those in between. It’s rumored to cost over $3000.

Find out more in the video below.
