Missoni Spring/Summer 2020 Brings Back French Disco

For its Spring/Summer 2020 offering, Missoni looked to the influence of French pop producer Serge Gainsbourg. This was evident in the 70s motifs that were featured throughout the collection — shirt collars and lapels were exaggerated while a variety of prints were styled together in an eclectic power clash that was delightfully retro. Tartan, stripe, and zigzag prints were some of the more frequent patterns that adorned the pieces, and subtle styling cues (like bandanas tied tightly around the neck and paired with a button-down) delivered a vintage feel that radiated French disco cool.

Reebok Updates a Classic from ’93

Reebok has updated another one of its seminal sneaker models from the ’90s, the Aztrek Double. To celebrate the nostalgic launch, the sportswear brand is rolling out a multi-platform campaign, featuring ambassadors Cardi B and Future, and inviting customers to ‘Sport the Unexpected.’ The elaborate campaign (available on all Reebok platforms) includes exclusive video footage that explores some of the label’s most popular sneakers, as well of the gear in action at a basketball game. Originally launched in 1993, the Aztrek Double remains one of Reebok’s most recognizable shoes and has been reimagined in a crisp all-white style for the modern consumer, with two more color options to be released later this year.

The Reebok Aztrek Double is available online now.

Kenzo’s La Collection Memento Nº4 is Pure Pop

For the fourth iteration of its Collection series (which dips into the archives and recreates classic pieces for today), Kenzo cast Parisian artists to celebrate the label’s heritage and relationship to the culture of the city. Kenzo – La Collection Memento N°4 revisits its most vibrant and electrifying prints (think tiger graphics, leopard print, and hyper-realistic tomatoes) in a cheeky nod to its tongue-in-cheek style, with a simple yet lively campaign shot by Campbell Addy that features the creative models posing with giant tomatoes and shopping baskets. For its show in Paris, Kenzo worked with choreographers Paul Sadot and Nqobilé Danseur to create an energetic presentation that featured dancers flaunting the retro-fantastic collection. Additionally, the pieces were made available directly after the show — now that’s something to celebrate!

Kenzo’s SS19 Sunglasses Collection Launches at Opening Ceremony

Designed in collaboration with Thélios, the LVMH-owned eyewear maker, Kenzo has released its SS19 eyewear collection at Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles. The fantastic retro assortment of sunglasses mixes the French/Japanese designer’s contemporary city edge with a mellow California vibe, perfect for riding around town or heading to the beach. The combination of vintage cues with futurism is surprisingly effective and gives you an idea of what the Beach Boys would wear if they ever were to pilot a spaceship.

Polo Ralph Lauren Brings the Heat

Combining innovative heat-tech with classic styles, Polo Ralph Lauren simultaneously feeds the demand for nostalgia while implementing new technology with the launch of two new jackets. One style, the Polo 11 Jacket, is a limited edition parka inspired by one of the label’s most iconic styles from the ’90s, which was inspired by the insulated pressure suits worn on space expeditions, emphasized with a playful arm graphic that parodies the NASA logo. The updated iteration of the jacket is equipped with new heat technology that can be controlled and altered with a downloadable app. The second coat, the Glacier Down Jacket, is a slightly more casual option (for those of us stuck on Earth) but contains the same innovative technology to get you through the winter months.

The Polo 11 Jacket and Glacier Down Jackets are available now at Ralph Lauren’s SoHo store at 109 Prince St and on the Polo App. Check out the jackets below.

Sandro x Helly Hansen Fall/Winter 2018

Sandro collaborated with Norwegian cult ski-brand Helly Hansen in their Fall/Winter 2018 collection, revisiting classic pieces from both brands’ archives and symbiotically fusing them. The collection pays homage to the 150 years history of Helly, particularly from the 90s — the label was a favorite amongst rappers and R&B artists for its bulky puffer jackets. Combined with the urban and minimalist brand of Sandro, the key pieces of the new collection including jackets, t-shirts, windbreaker, and a duffle bag pay homage to the codes of vintage 90s music scene.

The Sandro Helly Hansen collection will be available online at www.Sandro-paris.com this Saturday, and in the brand’s SoHo pop-up store in October.

Graphic Performance: Limited Edition Reebok Kamikaze II Mid

Reebok Kamikaze II Mid graphic sneakers basketball style retro trend

Mid top basketball sneakers aren’t exactly carrying models down runways…or landing athletes in the pages of fashion magazines, but the double-take this pair caused over here as we opened up the e-mail was potent enough not to be ignored. Fresh actually, the squiggle is a nice play on abstract, and chunky kicks most certainly have a place at the table. Besides, what are fashion scruples anyway if not to be sometimes flouted. Especially when they’re comfortable, limited run, “retro-bring backs” priced at just $100? They’ll drop on Friday, January 18th at Reebok.com and select retailers. More pics after the jump.
