As everyone heads to Paris for the final stretch of a seemingly never-ending fashion month, Off-White is opening a pop-up shop at Rue Saint-Honoré. Hoping to further promote its accessories range (beyond the yellow belts and chain-purses that are regular guests in most street style photos), the temporary shop will carry the Milan-based label’s unisex jewelry line and eyewear range from the Spring/Summer 2020 collection. Some key pieces include chunky branded silver rings that feature the brand’s arrow motif and assertive logo and accompanying earrings. On the other hand, the sunglasses selection is charmingly retro, with oversized ski lenses accented by brightly colored frames.
The Off-White Paris pop-up is open now at 229 Rue Saint-Honoré. It will be open for the rest of the week until March 3.
Shoe shopping just got a lot easier. Launching earlier this week, Saks unveiled an expansive floor dedicated entirely to footwear that carries over 160 designers. The new 8000-square-foot space is a 60% increase in dedicated footwear space and is planned to be a shoe megacenter of sorts. In addition to carrying more shoes than you can wave a stick at, the store will organize and host special events, workshops, trunk shows, and other activations to build a community for shoppers. Some of the brands carried in the space include Dior, Celine, Balenciaga, Gucci, and Saint Laurent, so if you’re into fashion with a capital ‘F,’ you’re all set. Additionally, the store also carries Puma, Off-White, New Balance, Timberland, and Adidas for hypebeasts and athletes. With a whole floor of footwear, shopping for shoes might just be something to look forward to.
Virgil Abloh released a new range of “Figures of Speech” pieces inspired by his Chicago retrospective. One of the two garments has a black and white renaissance painting across the body of the shirt, with the AMO badge surrounded by ‘Office for Metropolitan Architecture’ in a circle. Underneath the badge, Abloh added his “Figures of Speech” stamp. The back features a glossary of the exhibit in Chicago, overlapped by the same AMO logo and the number 23 which pays homage to his first clothing label, Pyrex Vision. The second item is also a white t-shirt, this time decorated with overlapping street lines laying over the exhibition title and index.
The Virgil Abloh “Figures of Speech” shirts can be bought on the MCA Chicago website.
Earlier this week, Nike and Virgil Abloh opened the NikeLab Chicago Re-Creation Center, with the goal of inspiring a new generation of creative Chicagoans. The new space will host workshops led by hand-picked partners working in multiple design fields, from fabric design to architecture. Along with the workshops, an eight-week mentorship program orchestrated by Abloh and other mentors will be offered to 10 local creatives to explore and improve their craft.
Furthermore, Nike is highlighting its Reuse-a-Shoe initiative which turns old shoes into Nike Grind, an innovative material that can be used to construct footwear and incorporated into other athletic structures — this material will be used to construct an Abloh designed basketball court in Chicago in the near future.
It’s the first Monday of May, which can only mean one thing: the Met Gala. In addition to the logo redesign, the collection features hoodies, bags, t-shirts, and caps among other accessories. Further graphic motifs include screen prints of slogans like “Watch Your Back” and the semi-deep “You Actually Fell in Love with an Image.” It’s a delightful collection that brings out the essence from both fashion influences.

Byredo founder Ben Gorham and Off-White designer Virgil Abloh collaborated on Elevator Music, a unique capsule collection of fragrances, denim, T-shirts, and other accessories. Inspired by the studies of Swedish scientist Gunnar Johansson, whose work defined the framework of human movement perception, the capsule was first exhibited in Paris in a commissioned installation titled “The Elevator” by the artist Carsten Höller, who also found inspiration in the works of Johansson. Gorham and Abloh manage the impossible with Elevator Music: a balance between lofty inspiration and a practical, stylish, and accomplished aesthetic that works in any environment.

Currently one of the most talked about labels in the fashion world, Off-White — founded by newly appointed men’s creative director of Louis Vuitton Virgil Abloh — presented a pop-cultural-filled collection for Spring/Summer 2019. Complete with graphic riffs inspired by The Simpsons, the show retained the brand’s affinity for utilitarian prints and daring fits that demonstrate the designer’s knack for elevating the mundane. As part of its larger redesign, Rimowa has unveiled a new product line with cult label Off-White. The new sleek product incorporates the raw edge of Virgil Abloh’s famed streetwear, while highlighting the functional and polished aesthetic of the German luggage brand. Made from a polycarbonate material, the suitcase is transparent and complemented by black accents for the handles and wheels. Be warned — if you’re traveling this summer with a bag this fresh, someone’s bound to try and steal it. And the transparent thing probably doesn’t help. Stay safe!
The bag will launch on June 20th in Paris, and will be available at Rimowa and Off-White stores and online on the 25th.
